Keep in mind who we're talking about here: a lot of tropers have a great deal of pride in possessing the not-so impressive ability to notice things in media, and when they see their favorite shows, comics, movies, and ESPECIALLY internet celebrities notice things in their own creations they eat that shit up.

I wrote "Depends." because it's not a good thing or bad thing by default. How Preston uses it with self-deprecation to evade critique is bad. If somebody uses it as a source of snark, it can be humorous (but in this position he's usually lampshading about something or someone different from himself or his actions, thus no self-deprecation).

Nah, I don't think you can have everything change that much when you're tracing. That background is moving a lot though.
He's trying make fun of those who copypaste without doing it himself.
I think the joke could have been pulled off better if he did copypaste. Otherwise, he just looks like he's trying to avoid assholery.

I like the way that looks sped up, reminds me a bit of Ed Edd and Eddy.
To be honest, copy-pasting the background is perfectly fine, things such as walls, desks, and other various stationary objects shouldn't be shifting if the viewing angle is the same throughout the comic.
If you overdo it though, it just looks lazy. Switching up the angle of a panel or zooming in on a character when they're talking can really make a difference.

If he redraws it all it's likes he's trying too hard to avoid flak, and he's not following the joke.
If he doesn't it makes him seem lazy and trying to criticise himself.

You know, sometimes I feel sorry for Dobson. Even if he improved a fuckton, and actually listened to critics, he'd still be as infamous as he is right now because of how stupid he's been.
