Actually, I think he would gain a little respect if he did listen to critics and improved his work. Him trying to avoid critique and blocking people for it is the main reason why a lot of people hate him, methinks.

I think it's safe to say the comic is one the reasons why we have so many crappy OC's and recolours.
Most Sonic fans that create the shitty OCs that I've actually met, have never heard of the Archie comics, and have only touched the newer games.
It's hard to say what spawned them.
I don't like the Archie comics because they're... All weird to me, and have some of the stupidest characters I've ever heard of.
Probably depends on who you ask, if you've been asking people from the UK, they probably don't know Archie comics because they're not made over there, heck, I'd probably never know of it if they weren't for sale in Dubai.
As I recall, UK had Sonic Fleetway comics, apparently they were better than the Archie Comics, but I don't know if they are.
But yeah, I think the Archie Comics atleast bought about a good chunk of American Sonic OC's.

The Fleetway comics were much darker and relentless then the Archie comics and had some really strange twists to them.
