I keep seeing it and I don't get it. This is above and beyond slender beauty aesthetics I think. Is it really just the blind leading the blind and nobody notices?
That's how you're taught to draw figures for fashion design. Its entirely a conscious decision, something to do with making the clothes look sexier. My sister goes to fashion design school and she's one of the best artists I know. She's taught to draw noodle people for her concepts, but she's still able to draw properly proportioned people as well.
It's just the industry standard.

Y'know, considering that picture and [url="http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz94iaa4AP1r7opqqo1_500.jpg"]this[/url] from a couple of pages earlier, he actually seems to be capable of improving if he puts some effort into this. There are still flaws present polishing can't fix, but I wonder if one month of "quality over quantity" (drawing only these kinda pictures) would improve his general skills.
