It doesn't show well on a screenshot but both the album and artist part scroll very nicely allowing one to scroll through and view artists and albums much like someone would do with LPs back in the day, that's the point.
if i want to scroll through LPs ill scroll through my LPs. my mediaplayer should just be easy to use.

Does foobar have a good equalizer?
I think so. it has this auto-leveler to prevent brick walling.
if i want to scroll through LPs ill scroll through my LPs. my mediaplayer should just be easy to use.
You're no audiophile I can tell. [editline]25th March 2013[/editline]
Does foobar have a good equalizer?
It has a equalizer, yes.
You're no audiophile I can tell.
so because i like my mediaplayer easy to use i cannot enjoy high quality audio? what are you smoking bro it sounds like ur hitting some pretty dank kush
You're no audiophile I can tell.
Yeah if being an sperg means being an audiophile, I'd rather not be an audiophile.
Yeah if being an sperg means being an audiophile, I'd rather not be an audiophile.
Yeah, it's not for everyone ; )
Apparently having a pointless bio of the artist and massive album covers wasting a bunch of space makes you an audiophile That's some fucking rock solid logic
Apparently having a pointless bio of the artist and massive album covers wasting a bunch of space makes you an audiophile That's some fucking rock solid logic
Didn't say it does. But are you saying it's pointless to have a bio of the artist you are listening to? And are you also implying that album art is a waste of space? Wow, that's harsh. I for one appreciate album art and want to give it what it deserves, I want it to be shown and I want to see the art of the albums I listen to. Don't really understand all the hate I get just because I have a foobar with heaps of information packed in it. I spend a great deal of time listening to music and in my music library, so naturally I want access to lots of information at a seconds notice, you find this confusing? Some people just want to get the music playing and pay little attention to the music player or information about what they are listening to, I understand that, but I'm not like that. At least not most of the time, some days I just want to listen, then I'll just get something good on shuffle. But most of the time I spend a great deal of time digging in my library looking for the perfect album to listen to. I'll go through for example Zappa's live albums until I see one I feel like listening too. The artist windows with pictures of the artist I feel is important, I have huge respect for the artist I listen to and therefore want to know how they look and think visualizing them in a prominent way in my library is a great way to do so. That also goes for the artist mixer (the elongated picture in the right corner). It shuffles though a library of pictures of the artist I'm listening too. And I can't agree that a bio is pointless, it's great to have when I'm trying out new artists or when I want to check out facts about the album I'm listening too (when double-clicked it shows info on the album instead of the artist). I don't know but some listeners are album listeners and some are track listeners. Track listeners tend to care less about albums, if you're a track listener I can see why you think album covers are a waste of space. But I'm an album listener and pay great detail to albums and view them as pieces of art and almost only listen albums from beginning to start, so for me a album is a whole much like a movie or book would be. Therefore showing the album arts become important in personifying the work.
Very pretentious. I've met a bunch of people like you in my life and they almost always have some sort of psychological issue so I'd rather not get into an argument with you because I know it will never end. However, I will say that you don't seem to understand that people just think your foobar looks awful and a lot of it is unnecessary because you can save space on foobar by just googling the band or whatever.

It's all there to be available with ease. And I have tons and tons of psychological issues, I'm not denying it. Well I think it looks minimalistic and stylish, taste can be different.
You're getting hate because of how pretentious you were
Yeah, I'm starting to figure that out. Wasn't aware I was being pretentious. I should be less passionate about things and don't waste time with grammar and being elaborate? Was I pretentious again? I really can't tell. But you've noticed that I think.
cant you just google for an artist bio and album art instead of having it take up 50% of your screen?
cant you just google for an artist bio and album art instead of having it take up 50% of your screen?
It doesn't take up very much space on my monitor. It's 27" and fits nicely the way it is. I also don't care too much if it does take up a lot of space, when I enter foobar I'm concentrated on the music and artist, so I don't need space for other things. I like being able to read that information that it gives, I could google it, but I value having to change to my browser, open a new tab, typing the artist, going to Wikipedia, then reading as being more troublesome than having that text box take up 5-10% of my foobar. And wouldn't googling for album art be very cumbersome and miss the point? Let's say I have a text list of my albums without the art, it would save space, but I wouldn't be able to see the cover unless I go and google it. I would have to explore my library only by the name of the album, not having any visuals clues of the albums unless I pick a album from the list and then go and google it. You might not prefer having album covers but you have to agree, for someone who does care about it googling it is a really bad option. It takes space to have the albums like that, but I value being able to see them with a simple glance like that. I can scroll through the view with artist, see a artist I want. If I click that artist the album art view changes so I now only see albums with that artist, I can now scroll through that artist collected works, if I see a album I like I can click it to view the songs in it or double-click it to start listening to it instantly. I think it's a rather nice work flow when choosing what I want to listen to, even if it takes up a lot of space : )
Or just have it in a handy little tab...
Or just have it in a handy little tab...
That's one click extra! ; )
please post your fedora collection
Not getting that reference I'm afraid.
Well I think it looks minimalistic and stylish, taste can be different.
...that is some of the farthest from minimal you could be.
...that is some of the farthest from minimal you could be.
There is literally no design element, everything is straight lines and cubism centered in cubic selections. It might not be minimalistic in information but the design follows minimalism. Things can be minimalistic in different ways. The foobar has a right and a left side if you split it by the middle, I can agree that the left side is a little cluttered, but that's just because I can't do without a playlist viewer and artist tree.
so essentially you look at your music player as it plays music.
Not necessarily, but I spend a great deal of time carefully choosing what I listen too.
Not necessarily, but I spend a great deal of time carefully choosing what I listen too.
And why can't you carefully choose what you listen to from just the names of the band, the name of the album and the name of the track? The band themselves shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the music
And why can't you carefully choose what you listen to from just the names of the band, the name of the album and the name of the track? The band themselves shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the music
When I pick up a new album (especially one from a new artist) I don't always remember the names of shit So I kind of need to have the album art viewable within my media player at first. That said, the way he has his thing set up is silly - just sticking the album art next to the album in his library list should be just fine for his needs.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5606926/facepunch/f2k.jpg[/t] i like visualizations
you can import Milkdrop 2 into foobar if you want, it will eat a bit of your rams but not much
this is the part of my foobar i usually see the rest is covered up with skype most of the time, since my entire second screen is dedicated to only skype and foobar.
also idk if anyone has a solution for this, but lately my foobar has been stuttering every so often. is there a way to fix this?
also idk if anyone has a solution for this, but lately my foobar has been stuttering every so often. is there a way to fix this?
pls respond
