Buy a 35mm camera, I can buy a decent one for nothing nowadays!
I use to do photography just for fun. Mostly took pictures of birds, and deer. I stopped cause everyone would get anal when you took pictures of animals cause, "ANIMALS ARE TOO EASY TO STAGE" annoying as fuck.

So true, watermarks often ruin the pictures.

I fucking wish. I had a photo shoot a couple of weeks ago where we used to Irish wolf/deer hounds (can't remember which breed) and the fuckers wouldn't stay put..
However snakes are pretty easy to photograph :D
It makes me rage how 16 year old teengirls buy themselves 1000€ Cameras and use it to take pictures of themselves for facebook and such. :argh:
Wheres that guide that dude did to hipster photography? It's around the forums somewhere...
It's becoming a fad because it's the easiest way to be "artistic".
Photography can rarely look bad. Usually it's either average or good.
And it doesn't require effort(talking about people who shoot to be "artsy" not pro shooters)
I can't fucking stand how shitty some people are at taking pictures. They take a picture of themselves in a mirror and put on some shitty filter and call it art.

Don't forget text added in MSPaint.

No, it can be bad. I had a "hipster" in my course every single picture he took was.. bad.

I love taking pictures of snakes. The only problem here though is their not garden snakes... Were talking diamond backs. You piss them off, and don't know what you're doing expect a trip to the hospital.

I never said it can't.
Anyone can be a photographer.

I've worked with constrictors, they were beautiful snakes. Especially draped around a good looking semi naked model.
I know 6 or 7 people who do this. My entire multimedia design class is these kind of people.
Anyone can be a photographer.
I've heard that before. Trust me, it's not. Unless you are extremely talented, even then it's hard!
what do hipsters have to do with photography?
You don't hang around hipsters, do you?
If you go anywhere with a hipster, be prepared to either pose for 100 shots, or wait for them to take pictures of every piece of graffiti or street sign. They also like to buy ancient cameras that barely work and consider the fact that the film they use is bleeding into the next picture and causing the pictures to be half red and half non-existent the epitome of cool. Although it can look nice if done right.
Honestly, it's just annoying because these people just follow whatever trend pops up, instead of finding their own thing. If you live in Philly, everyone's either taking bad photographs of their rooms close up, or doing stickers and getting in trouble with the police because they think they're invisible.
so deep. Is the glass 3/4s full? Or 1/4th empty?

The only question is did the liquid start at 3/4 or was 1/4 of it drunk

That made me laugh enough to make a facebook group about it. Hope you don't mind. I stole the picture ;D
There are fads within photography, yes, but photography itself is age-old. It's just that better equipment is becoming easily accessible and even easier to work, so obviously college and high school students have picked up more on the technology as of the past decade.
On the plus side, this allows creative people with little means to still pick up and get somewhere, but at the same time you have hundreds of thousands of retarded kids who get their parents to dump upwards of a thousand dollars on a 12 megapixel Canon Rebel and some lenses and crap and all they do is:
• take pictures at drunk parties with it
• me in the bathroom mirror in black and white I'm artistic lololol
• look at my awesome dog standing at my feet he's cute
• dump all of the above at a crappily compressed 600 pixel wide (1 megapixel-ish equivalent) into their facebook picture.
I'm a photography student, as well as engineering, a lot of people get into photography because they think having an nice camera and using badly done digital b&w makes them some sort of creative genius.
I'm happy most of the class dropped out last year, more time in the studio for me and other people passionate about the art.
I used to use my sister's Nikon, but shit broke during a trip we were on. I don't exactly remember which model it was, but it was damn good.

y' got my vote.
Don't forget to greyscale the shit out of your photos. Nothing says artist like a blurry back and white photo of your dog.
I'm trying to use an old film SLR, my mom's old one, it's over 40 years old. They require more skill because you have to focus it yourself (not that hard, but still) and you can't just edit on the computer, you have to use different filters. But I guess you could just scan them and then edit it.
