also that's like the fourth time in the past two pages someone's dropped in to say "LOL I read pornography"
Yeah it's starting to piss me off.
Yeah, mostly girls do it
I ranted about girls who post thousands of trivial pictures of themselves on Deviantart.
It was a poorly constructed thread and I got banned for it.
But those girls do suck massive cock when it comes to photography. All they do is take pictures of themselves being cute and innocent (but not help to society). Then they edit the photos a little bit with their Apple computers. They think adding a sepia color tone to the photos makes them artistic.
The worst part the titles they give their shit photos. They give their photos titles that try to be deep, but really aren't. Those girls are just shallow nitwits.
They are a very real stereotype and they are all of Deviantart.

all i read was male hormonal rage
Mostly has to do with the proliferation of cheap camera technology. Makes it more affordable to get a decent camera.
I like to shoot photos of cars and aircraft :)

Just finished processing this one of a friend for class. He brought a gas mask for some raisin but it looked cool anyway.
Car photo is great and gas mask photo is pretty nifty.
We need some of Ferrosso's car photos, hold up-

Man old cars are fucking boss, this thread requires more old cars.
That top picture is really cool, I wonder how much those things go for.
i don't understand why it's not okay to take pictures of things with faded colours and "artsy" angles like what the op complains about
Because not holding the camera steady or level is not artsy, just like filter raping it on Imageshack isnt creative.
i don't understand why it's not okay to take pictures of things with faded colours and "artsy" angles like what the op complains about
I'm guessing it's because it's the general angle that most Myspace/Facebook camwhores use for their photos and occasionally it drifts into photos of other subject matter.
But I don't see what's so horrible about it. If the photo is good and the angle makes it work, then it'd be good regardless.

Well taking pictures doesn't necessarily mean being "artsy".
Sometimes I take pictures just to take pictures.
old cars, sure. Here's something I did for my friend/client (whom some golds and photoshop section members might recognize)

you can say that about anything
that's just a shite argument
it just sounds like nerdy male rage against what they perceive to be a female invasion of their interest
there's no artistic criticism in any case
Oh man that is one awesome vehicle, do want.

it's nice when it's by itself and fits the picture... but when your entire gallery is the same crappy split-tone color fades it's really annoying and unoriginal.

i'm pretty sure when you first started not every picture was beautiful or original
my point is this, what these people are complaining about has nothing to do with photography or art

No one starts out good at something. You could be better than others at the start, but everyone progresses. I think (or at least would like to say that my own version of this whole rant) that what is really up for debate right now isn't necessarily the styles, but the people who aren't good but think they are just because they have a camera, or can filter rape the hell out of stuff.
aka "Photography illiterate people who think they're artists v1"
also tinfoil is so out. Duct tape lenses are where it's at because that was out last year. Rebel against the trends duuude

So I take it you see a lot of over the top lens flaring?
Natural lens flares exist too

Nothing sexist about it. I see douchebag guys doing it just as much as their ditzy girlfriends. It just cheapens the hobby as a whole, and exposes the world to a tidal wave of shitty photography.

True but you can usually tell fake lens flare.

Psh. I'm extreme against the trends. I don't have anything on my lens except a UV filter to protect the lens. :D
----
I frankly hate the myspace/facebook camera whore pictures. Especially the stupid camera tilt, peace sign, and kissy face. I'm extremely picky with my photography. It's not uncommon for me to take 50 or so pictures and delete all but 30 of them. Then go back and delete some as I upload.
I rarely use filters unless I'm trying to bring out the color of something, which is rare.
