But does this game have the redeemer?
Or DM_Phobos?
But does this game have the redeemer?

It has the redeemer atm, but no phobos remake (yet).
Its a pre-alpha, so keep in mind they could add any map they feel is necessary/would be nice to have when they have the resources.
I'm going to honest, I didn't really like the male human voice that was in UT2004 all that much. It just sounded way too gruffy and it makes me wish that it wasn't the only voice set for male human playermodels. I would prefer one that was more normal sounding kinda like the male voice sets for UT99 (Although, the Male Commando voice has kinda bad acting, so I have more of a preference for the Soldier voice).
Can I get an option to change team colors and have the map reflect that? I've always been more a fan of Green versus Yellow as opposed to Red versus Blue for some reason.
There are more than a handful of maps in game right now, however only a select few maps in game are finished at the moment. They usually update the game with new content/fixes every month too, so thats also really cool.
Sounds good, how's the playerbase lately? More active than it was months ago? I imagine this new trailer ought to convince people to play it so now would be a good time for me to return.
Oh shit i didn't realize this was playable. Welp, time to be thrown back to my childhood.
I didn't even realise this was a thing. Where have I been?
Deck16 DM and Facing worlds CTF is all that is needed.
I've been following the progress of both this and UE4 for about a year and a half now. The progress the team at Epic and the community have made together is astounding.
In a way, it's almost like Epic got its soul back. The Epic before UT3, Gears, and Cliffy B. was very open and encouraged things like modding and essentially creating games with their engine. Up until recently though, they were very closed. Now, they're extremely open again, to the point where they want the community directly working with them on almost every aspect of their games and even their engine. It's ingenious really, and pretty much everyone wins because of this much of an open cooperation.
I'm a bit wary because a majority of the shares of Epic are owned by Tencent, but if that means Epic can afford things like making their massively impressive engine free for everyone with practically no restrictions, and getting quality content developed for their games at a breakneck pace, then I'm all for it.
As for the game in question, for the love of god go play it. If you liked how UT '99 played, chances are, you'll like how this one plays.
The reason why UE4 is "free" is because honestly indies are way more profitable than big companies now if you are an engine liscenser
You can still get a royalty free version of UE4 for a lot of money, but the money just isn't there anymore. Big AAA studios more and more are relying on in-house engines again, which wasn't something that happened last generation - middleware engines basically had a monopoly on AAA game development during the 360/PS3 era.
These in-house engines took a lot of money and time to make, but in the very long term pay off big time after several projects under the publisher. This is because they allow your developers to have intimate knowledge of their own engine, which helps efficiency in production and helps them squeeze out more. Not to mention the obvious benefit of not needing to pay royalties or big upfront royalty-free costs every 6-8 years when the next refresh of Unreal/CryEngine/Etc happens. That is why MGSV, Witcher 3, every game under EA, every game under Rockstar, etc are all running off of in-house engines.
Suddenly, if you are Epic, you don't have a market anymore. CryEngine 3 was last to enter the engine middleware market near the end of the last generation and was hit hard by the lack of desire from AAA's first hand. Everyone started noticing how HUGE unity was getting because it was an "affordable" engine for indies and non-AAA development. Because that market is getting so big now, it makes way more financial sense to get your engine in as many hands as possible and just ask for royalties, so you can get a slice of the burgeoning indie/hobby market.
I see they remade Facing Worlds. It better have a remix of the original theme.

Making same theme just in higher quality would be enough
m-m-m-m-MMMONSTER KILL
Oh my god Facing Worlds is back.
I'm so fucking happy.

It sounds like they're using the UT3 remaster of Forgone Destruction.
And to be fair, I wouldn't mind if they used the music from UT3 since the soundtrack was pretty good. Especially the UT3 remixes of the UT99 songs and the remix of ONS01 for when Onslaught makes a return.
The one in the game is literally the original track, probably recorded in the highest quality they could get out of the original file
Sooo they redid the "original" UT?
YESSSS
Sooo they redid the "original" UT?
YESSSS
This isn't a remake, its a new game. Its just going by the same weird naming scheme alot of modern games and films have been doing lately.
Also, something to note for anyone who might be a 3d artist/programmer/other out there:
Epic is developing this game openly, alongside the game's community and other (potential) unreal engine developers. There will also be a chance to make some money off of your stuff being inside the game as well, mainly through cosmetics. So if any of you want to find a way to help get your name out there professionally/Want to help make a cool game, there is a good opportunity to do so with this game.
At the moment, UT4 is basically just a better-looking UT99 in terms of the amount of content it has. There is plans for expansion outside the UT99 mold, but they're working around it as a start. Eventually, there will be vehicular combat much like UT2003/4 and UT3, but they're using the UT99 base to begin with, as they recognize that game was most peoples' favorite Unreal Tournament for pure ground combat. When all is said and done though, there will be more than just the UT99 base.
I believe when they get out of pre-alpha they'll start adding in more new gamemodes outside of the core CTF/DM gamemodes that UT relies off of. Lets hope Assault ends up being a good cross between UT99's assault and UT2k4s, as both had some good things inside of them (though i didnt like the linearity of 2k4's assault).
this game is more optimised than most finished AAA titles
They still have a long way to go. My laptop has no problems with UT3 maxed out, while in UT4 I have to use some weird ass tweaks to achieve stable 50+ fps.
But even in spite of that problem the game is still fun. I love the feature of tutorials with tokens.

jesus my 10 year old laptop can run UT4 at 60fps (on the lowest settings, but still!!!)
I hope they remake Convoy.
I hope they remake Convoy.
I hope they remake HiSpeed as well, tbh.
UT4 is cool but I really want to play the Assault mode so badly.
this game is so fuzzy in game, nothing is clear like in CSGO. How do I change that?
Is the lore, whenever someone is killed a clone of them is spawned?
If unreal 2 is anything to go by, they're holographic projections.
I hope they remake Convoy.
I hope they just include Assault maps in general.
