Not being in art school is no excuse for lack of skill
Hey Autumn, did you go do an art foundation course?
I did not! I basically had the choice of doing the art foundation (don't know if you're British?) or just taking a year out and doing my own thing - so i took a year out, earned some money then went volunteering in borneo for 3 months. Going on what people that i knew who'd studied art foundation it sounded like it was very Fine Arts based, which isn't what i wanted to go into, and whilst I'm sure it would have helped some of my technical skills (which i don't really need) i felt that i learnt much more about myself and my life in general by taking the time out and travelling.
i'm currently about to finish up my 2nd year of BA Graphic Design (Hons) and i'll be going down to London for a year in september to work on placements for a year. very exciting! also stressful P:
Yeah I am British. I was just wondering what they're like (although I have a vague idea)
and which ones are good.
I'm so lazy, I need to look stuff up...

Why do you go assume so much shit that I've already gone flat down on and explained?
And how did I even imply that not being in art school had anything to do with my skills? i've already explained very well why my skills are as bad as they are.
I've NEVER implied, hinted at nor thought that there is anything but me that is the cause of my low skills.
Why are you all so mad at each other? Seriously chill.

Mad?
Well I can't speak for the others but I'm not mad.

Usually when you incorporate fucking into a sentence you're feeling a little butthurt.
Sorry, I don't know where I read the word fucking, should prolly sleep.
But ya'll sound mad and annoyed though.

the general jist i got was that they cover a lot of bases, like you'll do a sculpture module, watercolour, oil painting, drawing, modelling etc. but you're also in class a lot more than college/sixth form, like 10-4 all week, but i think it depends on where you go.
brighton's always had a great rep as a good art place, and i am 97% sure they do a foundation course, which is very popular and hard to get on to - but very worth it if you get a place!
then again, if you're planning to carry on in art and get a degree then you might want to consider finding a university that offers the foundation and full bachelors degree that you want to do, as the transition from foundation degree to first year of BA will be easier if you're taught by the same establishment.
but that's just my 2 cents!
Ugh I cannot be fucked with going to uni. Allow it.

I have a small vocabulary where 50% of the words are "fuck", so I just tend to slap it in because it puts more precision and sound on what I'm trying to say.
I removed it from the post, that's why you don't see it.
I go to school form 9-4 anyway...
Thanks for the advice! My parents want me to go to Oxford lol
In other news I decided to put a lamb under my glass table and make a new version of an older piece of mine, I'm quite proud of the hands that I've managed to rework and other general details, constructive criticism is very welcome for once

I was not accepted into uni :eng99:
ahaha, yeah mine did too. they met there getting their degrees and wanted me to follow in their academic footsteps. i could have gone down the forensic science route (did AS maths and biology in year 11, one of only 10 people in our 250+ year doing it) but then i decided i would be much happier (in the long term) doing something creative, so i took my art, photography and graphics at a-level then headed up north to get my graphic design degree :P
and i'm not regretting a second of it!

You sure you're not just a movie put in a human vessel?

Her right arm seems extremely thin, the shoulder doesn't really give off the depth of it being raised and thus it just looks really small as well.
Just noticed that the boobs are being held in by the bra, but the jacket bulges as if they weren't in a bra. It's not really all that much off but the bulge is a tad bit too big.

This looks better the smaller it is.
[sp]I realise the perspective on most of the left side is supremely fucked up[/sp][/QUOTE]
Overall really cool, I wuv shit like that but the panelling teture or lines on the buildings behind the signpost along with their perspective is incredebly off and irritating.
also you could use air perspective to a much, much greater effect.

Other fingers are nice indeed but thumbs are missing some important anatomical stuff.
Also I'd change the shading on the boobs to make them more boobish rather than half-spheres on a flat surface and the right tight that's expanding outside is weird.
Only 10 people in your year did AS Maths and Biology? In my year, I'd say a good 1/3 of the year does biology (of almost 300 students) and a good 120 do maths.
I was thinking of doing that whole medicine thing, I take Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Art at the moment and I'm still not sure if I'm making the right choice flinging it to the wind.
I hope I don't have horrible regrets later or you know.. starve :v:

no no, haha. this was in year 11, which is normally just your GCSEs. there were 18 of us doing AS biology on top of Double Award GCSE, and 21 of us doing AS Maths (we did GCSE maths in 1 year instead of 2) and 10 of us who were doing both.
[editline]31st March 2011[/editline]
you do AS levels at college/sixth form :P
Oh right, didn't read the year 11 bit, haha mybad.
You must be one smart cookie to do it early.
