as I am painting this on a 3000x2500 canvas[/QUOTE]
I remember attempting high res painting before, I ended up doing something so ridiculous, at around 12,000x10,000 pixels. Lagged too much so I ended up splitting the painting into two halves and stitching them together later.. Lost the files in a hard drive burn out though.
holy crap guys watch this video:

somethin a bit unrelated, my dad works for the times newspaper (UK) and he has to do fast photo manips in the imaging department, like this one

[QUOTE=Rusty100;28964644](youre the only one that has anything against my posts anyway - even dgg sees the humour in it and rolls with it and i target him the most)[/QUOTE]
Wha-whaaaat?! YOU WERE JOKING THE WHOLE TIME?!?!
And are you calling me fat? I can't roll! >:C
But this conversation is really hilarious. Chill 1chains, chill. He just pointed out a fun fact, that your drawing has a very similar pose and composition that many other drawings have, commercial and non-commercial alike. It doesn't make it bad, just not as exciting. Whilst it is good that you have chosen to re-draw it differently I just hope you have done so in a way that will improve your drawing and what you want to convey with it rather than just changing it to be different. Because really, that pose and composition is standard because it is good, it does it's job, and if it does the job the best for your work then it shouldn't be changed.
I also really don't understand what Rusty being a mod has to do with anything. It doesn't make him different from a user, at all. A mod is just a user with the ability to ban.
Ok don't be to harsh about this one because it's my first "painting". I say "painting" because I just used it to get used to blending colours, I wasn't paying attention to geometry or the edges of the drawing I just wanted to blend the colours

and yeah, it's quite cliche
The ball is not shaded like it was round
Well it was, then I added another light source and it just went nuts
Or is the actual colors of the ball?
could be the colours, but I was intending to add 2 light sources as a challenge but the painting became 2 dimensional, I only spent like 10 minutes on it anyway so don't feel like you need to critique it too much. I do appreciate tips/ advice though
yeah but are those colors natural (light sources) or is it the colors of the ball
the ball is blue and the light sources are red and yellow
[editline]3rd April 2011[/editline]
I added the hand after the red light source which is why it makes no sense as it would be blocked out by the hand. All in all it's a very horribly thought out painting
then its not shaded right.
Didnt we go through this a few pages back. Look it up
yep I see it, core shadow, reflective light and all that
completely round object should shade like

No no that's not the point at all.

Should go like this
thanks, I wasn't focusing on the 3dness of it just a smooth gradient of colours (which in my opinion failed as well) I guess it's back to editing photos instead of drawing them. I probably will attempt this again later though
except better
but thats just to give u a general idea of why your shading looks so flat

yeah, it helps. Don't worry i'll spend more time on the next one. Once I ace my IGCSEs and I find a fucking work experience placement in any deign company in my country. seriously do they like to not reply to your emails or something?
Emails are easy to ignore, make yourself a pain in the ass and call them.
yep called saatchi and saatchi 3 times, apparently they failed to tell me that the creative director was out of town until I called the third time
[editline]3rd April 2011[/editline]
each time was on a different day obviously
[editline]3rd April 2011[/editline]
i'm not that big of a pain

okay, you know that saatchi and saatchi are a big prosperous and fairly prestigious design company right? myself and one or two others from my class are looking to apply there for placements for next year (as we're taking a year out to spend in the industry) and it's going to be hard work to get accepted.
also you should know that the placements are generally quite short (2 or 4 weeks) and that they don't pay you, only expenses are covered.
also what are IGCSEs? intermediate GCSEs or something? and how old are you?
in the nicest way, don't apply for saatchi and saatchi, it'll be a waste of time.
Someone drew me a muffin, can anyone add transparency around it? Just the muffin. I want to use it as an avatar.
