[QUOTE=Greeneyes;28994778]How are we supposed to know that you were referring to a tutorial? Also you do know that just because a tutorial is about drawing bunnies it doesn't mean that that's the only thing the program can do?
If I write a Microsoft word tutorial and suggest slapping your dick against the keyboard to type it doesn't mean that's the only way to do it.[/QUOTE]
it was just a joke in case anyone did actually get it, I realise now my stupidity
if this is a joke, it isn't funny

Small question for ya rusty, how do you achieve that 'painted' look. For example how the border of the blue part looks like it's painted on the white background.

The mountains are actually just the back layer, in the foreground is gonna be a crashed spaceship overgrown with vines and shit, like so:

Wait what, jungle infront of a snowy mountainscape feels so out of place. And I was expecting you'd have some sort of vehicle flying towards the mountainscape itself, imo that would look a let better. Especially if you had a light blizzard going on too.

That bit also had me a little confused. It looks like it should be the foreground almost.
You won't even be able to see that in the final painting
well yes but i can see what he means, generally mountains aren't that prominent if the foreground is a jungle.

I don't like the composition, the spaceship should be more to the right
I just threw that together to show you what I meant
Also they are very high mountains

This is kinda what I was going for
[editline]5th April 2011[/editline]
except a big crashed ship instead of houses
Even in extremely detailed paintings, you have to learn where to properly place that detail or the eye becomes distracted and the drawing becomes overloaded.
The mountains being that large and that far away would be masked by atmosphere which would make it fade to almost the color of the sky and in some places actually disappear in the sky.
Also they naturally should have less detail and the shadows should follow the example of the colors and be very faded.
Having that much detail and sharpness on some mountains that are not the central focus will create both a very flat painting and bad composition.

So yeah, I'm fairly new to photoshop. Anything could I do to improve this picture?
Lighting on the leg/bottom area seems off.
I recently made this. Any tips?

That's cool too, I was thinking that you would do a Hoth like landscape due to the amount of detail that you put in the mountain. The ship is a 3D render right?

I guess use lots references, if you're looking at a face at a 45 degree angle then you could probably wrap your mind around drawing it better

I saw what you did there.
Anyways, thanks.
Guys to make a book is it normal to collate the images in a powerpoint because that's what they're doing for my school yearbook and I feel sad knowing that my 5820x7016 24mb png file has been resized
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
those are the dimensions of an A3 page by the way (double spread)
