powerpoint?? *shudder* what size book are you working on? if you're working for print you should be working in InDesign.
Well the DT teacher in my school is using powerpoint to hold the pages for the A4 yearbook and I checked the dimensions and a powerpoint slide isn't the right ratio for a A3 page (assuming it's two pages per slide) [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] really indesign? i have it here I just never used it because it looked a lot like illustrator (I came to this conclusion when I was 13) [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] ooh cool, you can make an actual books with pages. That is fantastic! All he needs to do is import all the pages into here and arrange them in the right order.
uhm, an A3 page has the same ratio as an A4 page...
yeah either way it doesn't fit, do you have an explanation to how he's doing this?
i can only assume he's not using an A4 size setup? also if you're meant to be working at A3, work at A3. do not scale, it doesn't work like that.
what I meant was that if he was putting 2 pages on a slide (to make it look like a book) then he would have white bars on the sides because an A3 page doesn't fit perfectly on a powerpoint slide [editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
i can only assume he's not using an A4 size setup? also if you're meant to be working at A3, work at A3. do not scale, it doesn't work like that.
Wait you can change the powerpoint slide dimensions in office 03? [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] I agree with you on the not scaling, I made my png A3 sized and I don't want it to be scaled
i'm afraid i have no idea, i don't use powerpoint. anyway, use InDesign
indesign is finnicky it necessary and i have no choice but to use it but i dont like it
what's so finnicky about it? once you've used it for a few projects it's easy peasy! and it handles type SO much better than illustrator... which makes sense but meh.
all the like image boxes how one is for whats visible and the other is to change the size and selecting hte right one with the right tool idk im sure ill get used to it and better with it
I loathe inDesign. There are so many annoyances like how much time it takes to resize a image and the color selection. It handles type well and that's it, in my opinion. So my workflow consists of doing as much as possible inside photoshop so all I have to do in inDesign is add text. Here's a feature article I did on a local band a few months ago. The only things I did in inDesign was any text (not the title though) and those white boxes. (I hate journalism)
I just create new snapshot in photoshop for different designs. More useful than indesign in my opinion, and isnt' that all you need? lol

[editline]6th April 2011[/editline] i used to do everything in Photoshop, but now i work mostly in Illustrator and InDesign... it's just a natural progression
I finally got my dad to take the graphite portrait I did into work and get a proper hi-res scan:
Sketched up two fishies, planning to do a larger piece of one of them but I don't know which to chose, cuddly fish or mean looking fish? :saddowns:
Now to be a lil more serious. I haven't been continuing the digital art I was working on earlier. I've taken Detlef's suggestion of drawing stuff and since I have plenty of spare time at school and home, I've bought myself a "doodle kit", consisting of two light pencils, one darker pencil, an eraser, a sharpener and two blank notebooks (absolutely blank, it's like a mini-art pad). Just as a note, I'm not aiming to create wonderful pieces of work, like making an excellent portrait of a cherry blossom orchid, I'm just to trying to get to a level where it would be considered "decent" I've used up to 6 pages so far in one book, 2 being used up by a friend showing off his exemplary art skills. And in the other book, 1 page for that cheesy comic. I'm just going to post a scan of the 2nd and 3rd page and a not so accurate, unintentional self-portrait. This was taken a few days ago, I'll post more recent scans tomorrow. Page 2 and 3. Reason for censor box: You don't want to see it, trust me. Unintentional self portrait I've just got two questions. How can I improve and how do I draw a face from a 45 degree horizontal angle.
The problem with your picture is that you're using the established cartoon shape of a nose rather than thinking three dimensionally. It'll take a lot of practice
I did a quick sketch of me. My hair is a mess and I'm naked because I just got from shower and I got beard as I haven't shaved for days. I also got lots of nose hair.

I fixed it to be more realistic. That's the last time I swear. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] So basically added a M40a1 gasmask and ACU

I feel the same way about Indesign as Autumn. I did everything and passed off my photoshop creations as my indesign projects for my Interactive Multimedia class. I am still used to using photoshop but I'm slowly transitioning to Indesign although its slightly annoying having to go back and forth between programs in order to make and place graphics. I have hope that my Imaging Software class next year will improve my ability with Illustrator.
So my workflow consists of doing as much as possible inside photoshop so all I have to do in inDesign is add text.
That's EXACTLY the point of Indesign. Adding finishing touches for print. Congrats.
I like your style, Sedford.
