[QUOTE=dgg;29022855]That's EXACTLY the point of Indesign. Adding finishing touches for print.[/QUOTE]
i wouldn't really say editorial work is "adding finishing touches". once you've collected your images and copy then you go to InDesign to arrange it and finalise it, but there's a significant amount more to it than just "adding finishing touches".

That's adding finishing touches if you ask me.
Fine tune the composition. Add text and text blocks. Maybe isolate images inside symbols, etc etc.
have you ever done any editorial work? a heck of a lot more goes into it than that.

Hardly.
It all depends on the project of course. But InDesign is still not a program to do photo editing, illustrative works or anything like that. Play with typography and layout.
which you're playing down as being "finishing touches".
good luck for a career in graphic design if that's what you think.

Really? At least up the contrast on the brown character... it's so flat.

Well it is. Unless your task is heavily text based then it is the final touches, the icing on the cake. What makes your product go from "good enough" to "best".

I tried to mess with the contrast settings but then it didn't look good at all

[QUOTE=Detlef;29021300]Lines are too scribbly/short try using long strokes, you should probably look up some head anatomy, what's up with the hugeass signature stretching the space

bah just a sketch, trying to draw straighter lines, only reason there's a sig is because im paranoid of credit being stolen, even though no one would probably steal it.
[release]The sea and the sky don't separate;
ever colliding, they drown in the warmth of each other's embrace.
The impersonal star flies by, surrounded but completely alone.
Maybe gravity was an attempt at making friends that went wrong.
We gaze through the telescope lens, and come to the realization
that we're so lucky to love,
when even the brightest of forces travels in silence.
What we have makes up for our microscopic size.
Look up and the night is a history book,
unaltered by winners of wars.
The most brilliant stars that we see now
have already gone eternally dark,
and we come to the realization-
life exists way beyond the concept of living.
Maybe the past matters,
maybe that's all there is,
in this sea of light.
Open the skin and the roots spill out,
connecting seamlessly to every bird's call, every string ray tail, every blade of grass.
For I am just a part of the all existing, the all re-existing, the all of everything renewing and changing,
being born and dying with the rising and falling of the sun,
the tides leading my soul along, in and out of the blue.
It is the extension of the imagination,
the ever longing connections between you and I and the person walking,
but because we feel with our eyes,
all we can think to call it is platonic love.
Consumed, engulfed by the never ending everything,
swimming in circles in search for a new realization,
the conflicts of interest, day to day worries,
the dead weight melts off of me,
and I am young again,
free to catapult from the water,
free to fly,
free to land.[/release]

for the record, the question was :
If, and only if there were twenty monkies in a bar arguing over the social context of fred astaire while eating fried chicken on top of an elephant riding through the middle of Washington DC singing britney spears's chart topping hit from the 90's "Toxic", and at the same time you had a bowl of cookies in your lap and you ate all of them but one and you looked up and realize that the bowl of cookies wasn't actually cookies but they were actually the number of times you had to go to the restroom in the past 2 days, how many kings and queens does it take to revolutionize the entire society of Japan?
Her answer was :
Well, taking into consideration the import of tabasco sauce to Japan and the monkeys inability to tolerate spicy foods, I would have to say the answer is forty two. It’s obvious that my consistent need to use the restroom ties into the toxicity of Britney Spears and the environment in which she has chosen to raise her children. I firmly believe that baby lemurs have large eyes and that is why their adorable factor is 9.
derp eye
she's actually looking straight at the camera with hair covering her eye but i dunno

I love her little smirk, makes her look more life like
S-S-SMIRK! So REALLLL...!
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
JK paintings good.
Her smirk I'm pretty convinced is one of the cutest things ever if you saw it in real life.
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
JUST sayin
Man, I'm inking in some sketches I've done in a western Comic book heavy shading style. One cock up and the drawings ruined...

Nice, reminds me of an NCR Ranger from Fallout: NV. The perspective on the filter looks off, it doesn't match the angle of his head.
God damn it is wonky.
And yer the idea was a kind of futuristic NCR Ranger!
as said the perspective is a bit off but I love the shading style.
I like the style too, tho I think it would look better digital
It would look pretty much the same digital since it's just hard blocks of colour.
Yeah but it would have that digital look and feel which I think fits pictures like that.
crisp looking and stuff
I'll have a go at making it digital. Thanks for the advice people.
