I like the flat top and don't like it at the same time. If you added texture to that design, it would be totally eighties.

I don't like the colors. Can't really offer any advice as to what to do with them but they look pretty bad to me. Might be that the blue bg is too saturated and dark for the black text, same for the bottom bg.

saturation gradient would be a better choice I think.

It's such an easy way out and super gayneric. As well as making it gloomy and serious, which is the complete opposite of what she and her work is. It also ruins the point of the poster. The design is inspired by her work (which would be odd if it wasn't since it's a poster for her gallery). Nah don't texture it. I like the original, the colours are really retro (maybe lighten the blue a bit). But it just needs something to finish it... maybe a simple border, or something to make the title stand out a bit more.

They do share the same height. Find something to measure with and you'll see it's the exact same height all the way.

I would suggest toning down that vignette as well as making it a bit bigger. Right now it's tucked up tight in the corners and strong as fuck. Like a chihuahua, aggressive but harmless.
