I tried using a square brush.

Nothing special though, and the shadow looks wrong.
nngh please for the love of art, don't use low opacity brushes for painting. Please just cut the habit right now while it's still time
Well how can I become a better artist then? I have no knowledge at all of human anatomy, and I don't know how to shade, and a lot of the time I see in my drawings that the vantage point of the drawings... eh, the whole thing just doesn't match up. It is as though everything is on the same plane, I don't quite know how to explain it, I guess I could compare it to an isometric drawing. Sometimes the eyes and nose of a face appear out of place or misshapen, and they become even more so in spite of any of my efforts to fix them.

Practice or some shit.

when you say this i think you should probably elaborate a little more because i don't think it is necessary to avoid less than 100% opacity, 100% of the time
i know you understand that but when beginners read your posts i don't think they will

Is the answear really that hard to find? If you are no good at anatomy, study and practice it same with shading. read art books on anatomy, study from real life and draw TONS of stuff. all with a realistic approach. Do this and I promise you'll get better
I hate everyone in this thread. My friends at school as well as all of my teachers always compliment any art that I create in my classes, but when I see the art posted in this thread, I realize that mine absolutely pales in comparison.
That's how life works. People don't want to hurt you and/or they're just so bad at it themselves that as long as you can do it better than them then it is really good.
It's called kindness.

Sorry for being a tard in this thread, I'm sure a lot of people run through here asking for help or asking for people to critique their shitty art and I really hate to contribute.

Sorry, I just forgot you advice. :smith:
I'm a fucking idiot. Now when I look at that piece of shit it looks horrible.
actually sir tronston just get a stick or some shit. use that shit as a sighting stick and go to town by drawing shit in real life. drawing from real life really helps u understand what the shit your doing compared to w/e you do.
Tried a portrait. It is going to take a while to get back into the swing of this. I haven't tried doing anything realistic for maybe two years. Particularly I need to spend more time doing my outline and making sure all the proportions are right before going further.

I have completed the drawing le fauteuil, but I forgot that my fucking 8 year old brother threw my $700 camera into the trash, and I don't have any other medium by which to show you the drawing aside from my cell phone camera, which frankly I am too lazy to use and connect to my laptop. Hm...
some sketches
Wait I thought I just said I did a bad job on the shading not my pencil lol.
nope, the pencil is still good
do many people use mechanical pencils for 'proper' drawing? being a graphicy person it's my pencil of choice but i can't imagine doing a lot of shading with it.
used to use it for errityhing but now i like sharpnging pencils and I like it more than mechanical.
plus all my mechanicals are borked
i dont know what i thought when drawing those lol

Clearly this piece of work doesn't deserve a thread.
Your avatar is made on that shitty drawan program
your argument is irrelevant.
