How is it possible to fuck up a chair....
... Whilst tracing.
You need to study some head anatomy mate, I don't think you have any clue of what you're actually drawing
Yeah, I'm doing quite a bad job. I used the reference picture below. Just need a lot more practice to get back into it. For some reason it is taking my a while to realize a certain part is way off, and I'm guessing it is just because I haven't drawn anything attempting to be realistic in about two years. If you're trying to do a perfect portrait, and you aren't that worried about the long-term lessons of learning proper head proportions and anatomy for later work without reference, then I'd recommend just drawing a grid over your reference and then using the same grid on your page from which to draw the portrait.
Yeah if you don't want to learn you can do that

Hey that's pretty awesome
I'm not too great at computer art, but I do alright with normal stuff. I painted my first landscape earlier, it turned out pretty well.
do many people use mechanical pencils for 'proper' drawing? being a graphicy person it's my pencil of choice but i can't imagine doing a lot of shading with it.
Mechanical pencils are useful for hatching and crosshatching. Did this with mechanical pencil.
Isn't that old?
Made a shitty little mix and yeah http://rdll.net/2011/04/a-little-mix-i-made/
Made a shitty little mix and yeah http://www.mixcloud.com/zchr/zchr_mix_01-electro-whatever/
I think that one'll fit best in this thread http://www.facepunch.com/threads/955481-Creative-Music-In-Progress-V1-lt-Country-Edition-gt
Isn't that old?
Really really old, I don't work with mechanical pencil often.
are there supposed to be outlines in pictures you draw? because whenever i draw pictures, i always have stupid outlines that seem to take away from the picture
are there supposed to be outlines in pictures you draw? because whenever i draw pictures, i always have stupid outlines that seem to take away from the picture
Really depends on what youre trying to accomplish, but if you do include outlines in a picture you should learn about line weights and pencil pressure or they will always come out ugly.
are there supposed to be outlines in pictures you draw? because whenever i draw pictures, i always have stupid outlines that seem to take away from the picture
look at shapes and shit. dont be a nerd by just drawing a single outline around the object u are drawing lmao.
i don't purposely outline it, the Lazy Lion's drawing a few posts up appears to have outlines and its fucking amazing, i just dont want it to look like crap while drawing as realistically as i can
ya and u can break down his figure into like shapes and shit [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] also do any of you guys ever have attractive models to draw? never took a life what ever the fuck its called class, but it seems like its just old people and dicks.
and i dont understand how people can draw a face with a circle and two crossed lines in it, when and how do you erase the goddamn lines
ya and u can break down his figure into like shapes and shit [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] also do any of you guys ever have attractive models to draw? never took a life what ever the fuck its called class, but it seems like its just old people and dicks.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1010239-Life-drawings-n-stuff?highlight= These are pretty much the types of models i get, judge for yourself. Normally art schools provide more advanced students with more creative looking and attractive models. Still most are ugly and unattractive though. Getting your own models is still better.
and i dont understand how people can draw a face with a circle and two crossed lines in it, when and how do you erase the goddamn lines
You draw the guidelines so lightly that its almost invisible, and slightly nudging it with an eraser will obliterate it from existence. I don't really use guidelines for the face though.
i don't purposely outline it, the Lazy Lion's drawing a few posts up appears to have outlines and its fucking amazing, i just dont want it to look like crap while drawing as realistically as i can
Start your outlines out very thing and lightly, and when you're done shading/rendering, erase out areas that you need for lineart to be lighter and thicken areas you want the outline to be harsher. Thick outlines represent the shape you are outlining as far away from the shape behind it, while the thinner the line, the closer it is to the shape behind it. And things in the front are often thicker than things in the back.
Too many people don't know about line weight.
i don't purposely outline it, the Lazy Lion's drawing a few posts up appears to have outlines and its fucking amazing, i just dont want it to look like crap while drawing as realistically as i can
Inspect the outlines. Notice that it's not one consistent thick line but rather a varying line that changes all the time.
i have two things i've made, please critique. im pretty ashamed of them, especially the face, which is disproportionate and crooked, it looks stupid. [editline]17th April 2011[/editline] i hate how neither drawing has any depth, all of the sketches i've seen in this subforum are almost photo-realistic in their depth
lol
