i just realised the strap looks like a face
i should totally run with that and make the strap rutger hauer's face
[editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
until then please pretend it makes rutger hauer's face
[editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
nope i've now decided im not going to do that because its too difficult and looks weird
pretend like you never saw a weird shaped face in the strap.

Now I don't know the seriousness of this poster, but that gun design is set to fail.
The way you hit someone with the butt of a gun is a stabbing motion with the stock:

The reason they do this instead of swinging it is that the connection between the stock and the main body of the gun is very weak, especially when most of the balance of a gun is placed forward to help control recoil.
The axe would simply beak at the handle after one, maybe two swings.
Also with the way you shoulder a weapon, the top nub of wood sticking out above the blade would make firing extremely uncomfortable, maybe even impossible.
My advice would be to attach the axe via the pump, with a hole in the blade to allow the hand to grab the grip to obviously set the shotgun.
This would be better since the hobo would not have to switch his gun around to use the axe, it is more in the center of gravity with no weak points on either side and the position allows good grip to actually get a nice swing.
The advice is a little late, but its good information for next projects.
i copied it exactly from how it is in the movie
you just wasted a lot of time writing that
Wow rusty, just trying to give some friendly advice, I felt the time wasnt wasted because its true and if you decide to pursue something else it may help you or anyone else in the future.
Sorry that I wasn't aware that the movie was like that, it is still a bad design. Please chill out.
edit- also that took me 5 minutes to write, not a lot of time "wasted"
It's a fucking poster god damn it.

oh wat is tis swans wings are made of hands this is so not practical you dont see ladies going aroind with a swan for chest and hands for wings it's silly
Everbody you seem like youre on a mission to try and prove me wrong in every thread, I know youre butthurt or something, but youre just coming off as a retard.
I was obviously commenting on the design of the gun not the poster, please sir, go fuck yourself.
since ur all making observations its my observation that 1chains1 comes in thinking hes got the best ideas and knows better than everybody else and makes a lot of long winded posts i can only attribute to artistic ego only to get shot down for acting like a bit of an overzealous dick at which point he flips out in his calm little fashion and gets overly defensive of his posts or artwork because of bad experiences in the past on different internet forums even though the irony is lost on him that he's only making the situation worse for himself by acting the way he does
btw dont tell me to chill out again because i am always as chilled as its humanly possible to be i do what i do and say what i say because i get a kick out of it, if only you could see my perpetual grin
[editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
basically i think u should mellow out and stop caring so much and above all stop being so defensive
man you like the shining

can we not start this again, and this happens to me all the time when I argue online, people think that i'm super pissed but i'm just laughing at them for not knowing that I don't take it seriously, good to know I'm not the only one
To be honest I think everyone here has some sort of ego problem and therefore likes to bitch about anything.
I'm getting kind of sick of the way everyone is trying to get 'one-up' on everyone else; whether that's through sarcastic comments or dickish criticism.

well chains has started to bring his superior ego into the 3D thread and it's not cool.
anywhoo does anybody have an after effects plugin that flows from text to text in 3D I know of the video copilot one but I'm wondering if anyone has anything else, animating by hand is way too time consuming

well I was not talking about facepunch but rather facebook, and I was telling you not to restart the thing you had with chains about his painting because i've seen this happen before, mainly in the minecraft thread and it's not something that should be repeated
idk what ur talking about
hmm me neither, I was just trying to say: get along
hmm me neither, I was just trying to say: get along
or just don't cry about a fictional weapon on a movie poster

Don't stop man. Keep at it. Just try understanding the shape of the human head.
Stop over rendering photo studies. They're meant to give you an idea of how it's supposed to look. Not exactly the same.
And also, to echo what many people in this thread has said, be confident with you strokes. Instead of short cramped ones make long beautiful ones.
yeah the most important thing about a photostudy is that the values and shapes are good. If these things are not intact it doesn't matter how much you render details, it's still gonna look like shit. so keep it loose and big shapes
Anyone got any examples?
I think humans are a bit too difficult for me at this point
Also I can see that you work with your brush on low opacity >:( stop it
it's a nice looking logo, but you seem to keep these messy lines in, and i think you lose a lot of "professionalism" in doing that. keep the lines neat and i think it'll look even better.
Yeah, I might try that. I wanted it to come off as rough or earthy and I love subtle texture. I suppose good use of colors can achieve the same effect, I'll try a rougher looking version and a non-rougher one once I colorize.
Thanks :) Everyone's critques and ideas in this thread has been very helpful.

It honestly looks really good in my eyes, bar the suggestions from above to make it even better and improve it. You should keep at it :)
