I want to get better at digital painting so I tried out the hard brush thing. [img_thumb]http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/4931/diglett.png[/img_thumb] Suggestions for improvement?
Don't use opacity on the brush. It just makes it grey and boring.
I think it's his choice of shading colours than using opacity( I'm pretty sure he didn't use opacity). Perhaps use a brighter background colour or just warmer tones in general. Oh wait, he did use opacity in bits, but that's not the main problem.

He also needs stronger colours, but using opacity will grey it down, no matter what. I've opacitied any work I've ever done with digital painting and it's dull and washed out every time.

I can't remember everything I did on there, and I could be wrong about where I used it, so could you please point out the places where I used it? Sorry for the mis-understanding here, I don't know some of the painting terms. And thanks for the CC.

I don't think that's a hard brush

These are some sketches I just scanned in. Let me know what you think.
Oh Dgg Why can't you see What you mean to me Wow, what a quality rape on Imgur's part. Anyone know a better file host?
Well, ever since I saw the artwork for The Social Network's soundtrack, I've been experimenting with glitch art (basically the manual corruption of an image file by editing the image in a text editor; it can create some pretty crazy shit when you do it right). It's really cool, since the outcome is completely random and also since different file types distort the image in different ways (E.G. JPG files have shifted rows with random tint changes, Photoshop files are either a jumbled mess of pixels or completely blank depending on what you do, TIFF files just break completely, ect.). I've been testing out some different methods of corruption with different file types and such, and I thought that I'd post my latest experiment (a combination of JPEG and PSD corruption; the original picture was some random photo of my cat that was sitting around on my hard drive). (the original image is a hell of a lot larger, by the way)

In Defense of Thyself I'm bored and I feel like attempting to write a Shakespearian type soliloquy. Or at least attempting, whether I can pull it off I don't know. I most certainly can't follow the syllable pattern. Hast thou so quickly forgotten thy triumphs? Were all the victorious asked not of what creed they came? Nay, I beseech thee, for thou art the greatest And perhaps thy mettle, with plight nary near Can deliver thee unto thy righteous throne And hoist thy petard high above the noblemen And countrymen of thy own citystate! Wherefore hast though become so whitehearted With condolement of thine imagined losses? For whence upon thy time is called By the almighty Gods Thine self shall ascend Mightier than the rest As a martyr for disappointment

[img_thumb]http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/4931/diglett.png[/img_thumb] Suggestions for improvement?
Needs a much wider range of values and the shading on the nose is unnatural. if there was light from above, the shade wouldn't go all the way to the top of the nose like you've done (same goes for most of the 'rocks'). The shadow dropping from the nose suggests that the light is coming straight from above, while all the lighting suggests that it's coming more from the side. Adjust the nose shadow to this. And the lighting on the forehead also looks unnatural. Don't do that unless you REALLY know what you're doing. and you clearly don't so DON'T do it...
