I failed to emulate Joe Shuster's style
I wrote a poem around 15 minutes ago and I want to hear your opinions. Not the first one I write, plus it doesn't rhyme. I wrote it because I'm a bit depressed, girl problems and such.
Today at dusk, my dreams will be shattered
Yet I will dream of your celestial features
In this unfair world, some people still have hope
That you won’t give up when the time comes
C&C on it?
don't like poems, they are pretty much useless
This is odd. When ever I show my stuff to my friends they always got something to say, usually bad to.
Oh and thank you
Here is my tablet stuff which still sucks for the most part. Some constructive criticism if you will.

That haunter looks pretty horrible.
I hope it's alright to throw in a (fairly, I guess) simple request here, didn't feel neccesary to create a thread about it.
Could someone rotate, crop (if needed) and resize this to width: 360px and height: 640px (16:9 aspect ratio). I want to use it as a background for my mobile phone (in landscape mode it's 16:9). Choose the resolution on the site I linked to that works best for you to work on. But I guess you should use one of the 16:9 ones so the image doesn't get stretched.
Thanks, I'd do it myself but I'm hopeless with image editing. But I reckon it can't be that hard for you guys.

And I'm sure your webcomic expresses views that affect the global zeitgeist of the public opinion.

[editline]18th February 2011[/editline]
also: got a decent photo of medieval buildings to use as colour reference. looks like a mismatch at the moment but it should all come together at the end. Red/black lines are for construction, If anyone asks why they are there I'll flip.

yes, yes they are but let's not discuss that anymore
That haunter looks pretty horrible.
Thats not exactly constructive criticism or helpful in the slightest way but thanks I guess.

about the haunter, your coloring seem to imply that you wanted to add some dept into the piece but it just looks like flat shapes with some useless shadows.
I also see that you colored with a brush that has a low opacity. This is bad you have no control over your values. the harsh edges of the haunter makes it looks like you used lasso tool and just licked the layer and scribbled the shadown in. plus I see overlapping of colors etch etch.
and add some basecoulors before painting.

Unfortunately I really have now clue on the correct way to use all the tools presented to me. Something I really need to figure out.
The right way is to experiment, but if you wanna be serious you should look up some tutorials on photoshop painting.
DeviantART has thousands of them, and they show alot of different techniques too.
I will look some up. Any good ones you would like to recommend?
Most of their tutorials is for people who have mastered photoshop but I think this one can help

Yeah sorry about that. I should have taken time to write something more constructive, but I was kinda in a hurry. Also I didn't get much of an idea of what you actually tried to do with that haunter. Or what kinda of style you were aiming for. It all looks so random. Other then the obvious, I would point that the way you outlined the fingers looks really bad, but mostly when I point out things like that, people tell me it was just their "stylistic choice" so I guess that's just my opinion.
Anyhow, listen to Detlef. Look at tutorials and experiment. Try to keep it simple. (bro tip: hold the Alt key when you have the brush tool selected to access the eyedropper tool quicker.)
[editline]18th February 2011[/editline]
Also Detlef, are you sure you want to refer to that tutorial? It says to use dodge and burn tool for adding highlights and shading...
I'm really not sure what i'm doing with Photoshop. I have a lot of work to do. Also the thing about the hands is true I didn't like the way they came out.

A less destructive way to do dodge/burn is to make a new layer with 50% grey and set the overlay mode to "Multiply" if I remember right; do your dodge/burn on that layer and it'll apply below.

I didn't read the tutorial though. It's not a good tutorial for beginners then.

It looks very odd when you paint one part but use a gradient on the other
