Outcome is always much worse on paper :frown:
that's what practice is for buddy
or Unless you're using the wrong hand and not aware of it.
I am barely able to pick my nose with the other one.
Started on this Photostudy... I get more and more afraid of continuing on it because I'm so good at fucking up things, and I also get more and more confuzzled with the details, where it's supposed to be, how correct it is compared to the reference and blablabla. Looks good so far. The shirt is too saturated and the skin looks unnatural, but I'm sure you are aware of that.
The mask is too Fat/flat
Outcome was for me always much worse on paper. I guess I have problems with fine motor skill of the fingers and the mouse somehow works better. I know I must not quit, I keep drawing, but I feel like I am just completely missing something.
don't give me that shit my hands shake constantly and i can still draw
References are just guidelines, don't worry about getting it to be incredibly similar. Use it mainly for learning the natural curves, colours, and shapes of scenes. At least that would be I would think. Also, Darth VikingBear
Not quite 3d, and doesn't deserve a thread. meh [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/idea2.jpg[/img_thumb] go on, click it
I always come to this section to post something I draw and instantly feel like giving up and shooting myself from seeing what are other people here are accomplishing just "by the way". :frown: [img_thumb]http://www.sinus.cz/%7Emilan/xan_shaded.gif[/img_thumb] Used this as loose reference. [img_thumb]http://www.ic-gallery.com/albums/userpics/Xan-x.JPG[/img_thumb] Drawn using mouse in Gimp. Took me few fucking hours to draw this thing. I feel like I will never be able to draw anything properly.
If you're using gimp, you should consider using bigger brushes... Blob in the colors and then refine them. You look like you made it in paint because it's all very one-pixel-outlined looking.
Ya, sorry about the darkness, monitor thing on my end.

You look like you made it in paint because it's all very one-pixel-outlined looking.
Well yes, that's the problem, I don't know how to do it in better way. I basically drew the whole complete shape as 1 pixel outline, then filled all surfaces with flat colors, and then shaded them. Actually I don't have a honest idea what I am doing. Basically everything I know both about gimp and about drawing (and most from that little is probably wrong) is what I have figured out myself by trial and error. Could you recommend some foolproof procedure or tutorial?

I updated my sketchbook with noses + Kotick in his true form.

Still trying to get better. They're both a bit large, so I tag'd them. There was a bit of a problem with opacity on my last painting apparently, hope I didn't use it too much in this one. The perspective is kinda strange on this one, it was based off a drawing and it came out warped I guess. same with the shadow/shading
Small dump of stuff I made last week: This was mostly me experimenting with this kind of shading, since i never tried it before. Supposedly this was a concept for a skeleton pyro, inspired by the "Shambles" from Oblivion I'd like some CnC on the pelvic bone, since I used a reference for it.
hang this on your mother's fridge: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/1776/img0677ki.jpg text totally unrelated.
[img_thumb]http://i52.tinypic.com/2ilnexv.jpg[/img_thumb]
Hmm, i think you should try shading with a bigger brush. And also maybe you should work some on your brush quality. Do try to get long smooth lines instead of small crumpy ones. Looks like you got a good sense of form, so just keep it up!
it's done, i think. it was really something new for me, hope you guys like it.
If it was wider, I would have a new background. Looks good
That's really good

You seem to imply that the sun is behind the rock but the light comes straight down anyway. shit doesn't work that way

can clearly see a light source behind the rock.
Must be mars, more than one light source :v:

made a week or so ago when egypt was still a mess
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Terrorsquad_awesome.png[/img_thumb] Terror Squad
Terrible Squad :smug: But yeah the proportions are pretty off and the light from the eyes/gun doesn't seem to do anything glow wise. Also the muzzle flash is starting before the end of the barrel, how does that work? Not trying to be mean, just constructive critisism.
