Kak literally means "shit" in Dutch.

Photoshop. The art itself isn't mine, I just made it into box-art.
You missed the correct era by about 38,000 years.

I instantly hate you now just for saying that. Don't post shit and expect everyone to praise it as something holy.

It's too clear that you're just raping images with a brush.
Try draw something for a change.

Exactly.
Its tough at first... I still feel a sting when somebody says something I make looks bad but it does better you in the long run.
Just deal with it. The CC is good. Thats WHY you are posting in the first place!

Here lies the Deviant Art poster mentality.
In my opinion, there shouldn't be a sting there in the first place. I've realised people here give their criticism as neutral as possible, even if it's 3v3rybodys extremely long and precise walls of text. Unless it's genuinely bad, you will only get advice on improvement and shouldn't question it.
Meh I dunno.

proud of this one.
So I got a new Photoshop magazine on Sunday. As usual I couldn't follow the steps very well because most Photoshop users seem to use macs and mainly base tutorials off the Mac. Somewhere along the line I got lost in making some kind of cosmic hummingbird that really looked good. I gave up eventually because it was going nowhere and I even tried winging it but to not avail...
So I checked their website and saw a competition. They were offering a prize of a subscription to a website for a year that has tons of videos on how to use programs. I figured, "eh, why not" even though I probably wont use them I could pass it on to somebody else. I used their Stock Photos they released for the competition and made this in a nights work.

My first attempt at surreal photo manipulation. I think I did good seeing this is my first time doing something like this although it doesn't feel "fantastical" enough.
It looks flat, like the 'whateveritis' has just been slapped on top. Work it out from behind the arches.

I agree, it does look flat. That was also a concern I had. I think the half tone magnifies that problem. I might take it out if I don't find a way to nicely incorporate it.
I was going for a portal to... somewhere... space? I got all the effects and the background of the portal from the pictures off NASA's website.
Am I thinking too simple?

No, it's perfect.

With that avatar and nickname I don't know if I should trust you.

I don't think the orange goes well with the other colours. In fact I'm not too fond of any of the colours.

Anyone got any C&C for my piece? Or just wanna say what you think of it?

shouldn't be too difficult to find the windows equivalent of things like shortcuts. it's still the same program, whether it's on a PC or a Mac.

i think it's great! regrettably i don't have much more to comment on since i'm not entirely sure the meaning behind it, but you've got a good style and i am very fond of it. also did you do it in photoshop or illustrator or something else?

Thank yooou  It's a style I've been experimenting with recently and I really like it, it's a fun style. The meaning behind it is kinda just... meaning something else than what it says. It was originally just a sketch for part of my typography unit I'm doing in school, but it's evolved past that. To put it simply I just wanted to draw something colourful and wacky and completely opposite to the word "boring".
And in terms of methods, I sketched it by hand, then inked it with some nice pens, scanned it, traced in illustrator and coloured in photoshop.
Could use a fuck ton of help drawing humans here.

I've just come to realize it kinda looks like a book.
And man, I've been dicking around with the colours on MOT so much it sickens me. Orange seems to be the best match, because it needs to fit with blue as well.
But I'll do what Funnycat told me over steam. Use Adobes "Kuler" and see if that helps.

Bring it down just a little bit. It looks slightly above the lower third.
Kuler gave shit results and the only one that fit was some slightly more orange colour.

Surprise surprise.

But I can try that out tomorrow. Really need to slap myself into bed now.
Aha, I was right. I like the colors you have going on.
Friend wants to write a sci-fi comic so I quickly mocked up a uniform colour scheme. 5 mins.

Epic Space Crotch!
If I don't have a scanner, how do I at least take good pictures with a camera of any work? I'm guessing flourescent lighting?
I'm still working on this shitty thing.
