It all depends on what you are going for
Yeh I'm always trying to get no texture, depth, atmosphere, emotion... it's just my style.

Surprise surprise. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655193/noitisnt.jpg[/img_thumb] But I can try that out tomorrow. Really need to slap myself into bed now.
VS
Still learning [img_thumb]http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/8253/gourd.png[/img_thumb] Suggestions?

It all depends on what you are going for
No, no texture, no atmosphere and no depth is something you never go for. Even the silliest doodles and simplest cartoon drawings (where possible) have those attributes because they make a drawing. [editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
VS
Excuse me? My work is a graphical design, not a drawing. Anax has a lot of work ahead of him as well. It's far from well executed to get the style he's aiming for right.
My real point was about doing it with a small brush instead of a big one like chesty said.
Yeah, and you HAVE to use a big brush to get anything right. Small brushes are for details and sharp highlights/shadows. Big brushes are for actually drawing.
My real point was about doing it with a small brush instead of a big one like chesty said.
I never go smaller than 3px in any of my pictures. It's totally unnecessary. Look at that tiger picture and this weird cyborg picture thing and you realise why 1px brushes are completely shitty and make your picture look like an aliased mess of wannabe over-detail.
what have i done. no but really thanks Chesty, i actually didnt know that
pff You drew something, and that's good just keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it
Some more sketch stuff: EPIC FACIAL HAIR!!!!

I wanted to practice drawing faces but then i got bored and drew armor
I was bored in school and decided to doodle a picture of Graystripe. When I got home I decided that it was fairly good and added a few details to it here and there. It's sloppy, I know, but it's pretty good for an in-school doodle. Forgive the pencil scratches and eraser marks.
Wow, I'm not even sure if I should post this now looking at this thread. I did this in Paint.net. I'm not very artistic so it's probably shit. If it's really bad/doesn't deserve to be here just tell me and I'll snip it. I would appreciate some feedback either way. Anyways here is this house thing, and a chubby fellow with a deflated tire on his head.
looks like a shoddy minecraft style copy, primarily because of the grass falloff and then your avatar
I actually made my avatar after this but I would by lying if I said it wasn't Minecraft inspired. This was probably a mistake, I'm not very artistic or talented however much I wish I was.
So I like to draw on index cards during class, because I stumbled upon an abundance of them. The only problem is how terrible I am at drawing by hand. This drawing has everything wrong with it, I just wanted to try drawing it because I got random inspiration during class. Some sort of skeletal mage in a robe. My favorite thing to draw is medieval weapons, but they're still not that good. This one is my first attempt ever at seriously drawing anything with a human figure. I'm surprised at how it turned out, because I didn't think I could get anything close to this. It's supposed to be a dwarf, but his legs are short, and I can't draw faces or hands, so I gave him a stein and a crappy axe. He's also wearing what's supposed to be a helmet, but, well, you see how that turned out. Sorry for the quality, took these in a car with an iPhone. Also, I'm very anata-bad. Also, sorry for eraser marks, especially on the big axe. I couldn't find a good way to decorate it. I make mistakes. :<
Im in love with these brushes <3
cool. you should actually use them!
cool. you should actually use them!
Well, I painted someone using a halfassed method using the colors from the layer below?
Hot damn, thefrog, haven't seen you in forever. I remember playing the original Gmod with you with an XFire call up, making terrible poses and posting them here. That's a neat picture there.
Hot damn, thefrog, haven't seen you in forever. I remember playing the original Gmod with you with an XFire call up, making terrible poses and posting them here. That's a neat picture there.
look who it is! wow its been years now hasnt it?
there we go
Yeah, quite a few.
there we go
In all good honesty there wasnt much skill involved, it automatically took the colors from the layer below
The backgrounds is very cheezy, you should go for something simple. And no words :/
Oh the words will be gone come actual background time. And the background will be simple, I don't want to detract from the tiger. I won't be able to start for a few days though.
In all good honesty there wasnt much skill involved, it automatically took the colors from the layer below
welp nevermind uninstall photoshop and go shop around for a pencil or something.
welp nevermind uninstall photoshop and go shop around for a pencil or something.
Whoa whoa, now i didn't say i didn't have any skill, but the only show for the brushes took little skill, just really repetitive and tedious to actually color that in and have it look right.
yeah I notice now that its cs5 brushes stop doing that
Excuse me for the shit Quality, I didnt have my scanner at the moment. This one was during a College class, took me around 15 mins. (I was bored as fuck) This one... Heh.. Im not really that much proud of this one, another drawing made of boredom, made this while I was at the student's lounge. took about 15 min too. I have so much better to give you, but its not on picture. So .... Anyways, Next time I post, I'll try to post better content I swear!
Well, I painted someone using a halfassed method using the colors from the layer below? [img_thumb]http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/4261/forhaley.png[/img_thumb]
I'm incredebly suspicious of that due to the fact that it is not downsized and that your gallery is completely made out of gmod poses on da. And never let photoshop or even don't use the ink droplet to get colours from the image, mix all them yourself. I'm seriously suspecting a trace or filterrape or some stuff. Show some work you've done without reference.
