Ghost in the shell (movie) and Cowboy bebop were the only anime I could watch the whole way through without shouting 'what the hell is this shit' and turning it off.
Haha. More difference than that sir. Anime= real anatomy on the body with exaggerated gender treats. Head is shaped like a guitar pick. There is usually no nose, but a line of it from side-view, even when not in side-view. Huge eyes on girls, squinted rectangle eyes on boys. ^ normally. Cartoons: Anything that is a deformed being. Usually human. Can be anime as well, but classified as anime since it looks too different.
Just wanted to clear up your horribly misinformed definition of Anime here. Anime = Japanese animation. It can have any style. That is anime because it originated in Japan. It does not have a single exaggerated gender trait.
There is. The long ass faces does not look good. But it would be silly to suddenly draw them more properly (yet stylized) now when it is a continuous webcomic with a story that has started off with that style..
Maybe they step into a zombie portal and come out the other end looking like rankin-bass characters
what anime is that?
Use bigger brushes and don't scribble in shading with black.
I was going for texture but it went wrong so I experimented. Also I should stick to my own subjects for drawing. My pyro is awful.
I converted a sketch of a lizard-robot hybrid I did yesterday into a digital piece, I think I may end up finishing it, colors are weird but I'm trying to work in a different style. Paper overlay included for kicks because I thought it produced a really cool effect. Excuse the lame comments, my friends made me [/derp]
I like the scratches in the metal, but the outlines are messy

If you're going to be that picky about it nobody can draw anime here because they aren't Japanese. You also failed to give an example of it also being able to be 3D CGI movies, stop-motion sketches like clay animations and so on. And even more nitpicky it isn't even Japanese anime because it's just the Japanese word used for animation. Any Disney movie is anime, and as it goes without saying, any American cartoon as well. So... You're fighting with a definition of anime that isn't the definition of anime to argue against the definition of anime I used. I only recognise gurren flaggan, nekojiro sou and rucky starrro
Have ye not seen Mind Game? Shame on ye. And now let's shut up about this. Except for Heroms. I want to fight with him, he seems fun.

Try studying some color theory. [editline]12th March 2011[/editline] I would recommend going thru some photos you like and go over them with the eyedropper tool and see how the colors interact with eachother, and where they are located in the color picker.
We're talking about the artstyle labeled as anime.
You're just arguing semantics now. In North America, the proper usage for the word anime would be when referring to Japanese animation. Japanese animation has been stereotyped into guitar pick heads and large eyes, when that is not the case. There is no such this as "the art-style labeled as anime" as that is a false labeling. People can attempt to copy that stereotype, thus "drawing anime", but again, it won't really be considered anime. Saying that Disney is anime is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. To the Japanese maybe, but you live in America pal, it's cartoons to you, not anime. Just like every country has it's own unique hand signal interpretations, our word definitions are different than theirs. Now let's all stop derailing the thread.

I live in Norway so why would I give a fuck about America? And yes there is such a thing as "art style labeled as anime". It won't be considered anime because it resembles the stereotype of anime too much? That makes no fucking sense. Disney is anime because anime is animation. We use anime to refer to Japanese animation but since you want to be so goddamn specific and nitpicky about it, yes, Disney movies are anime. No. Basically you are arguing about there only being one correct definition to use, the one you use, even though there are several out there and the one you use is the one that is mainly used by westerners like us but not the actual proper one. Anime has it's own artstyle and that is the stereotypical looking anime character with the huge shiny eyes, thick sharp pointy eyelashes, a short line for a nose, a line or a circular shape for a mouth and a pointy as fuck cheek. Anime itself is not restricted to any artsyle. But the artstyle labeled as anime is restricted to some 2-4 different ways of drawing.
