How do you mix your colours if you have your brush at 100% opacity all the time?
I think you meant blend colors. Most artists set their brush opacity to pen pressure then.
Chesty u know I'm right This aint something i say because I do it. But it's something I've picked up from pro painters. LIKE FENG ZHU HE SAYS SO
Depends what sort of a painting you're doing surely? I don't understand how I could have achieved the results of my last two paintings using only 100% opacity, brush dynamics or not... especially the band painting thing.
well obviously you can go with lower opacity for details, but using it without basecolours is a bad idea
You can't label an art style as Anime because the definition of the word is Japanese Animation. How is this not getting through. To the Japanese Disney may be Anime, to the Western World Anime is Japanese animation. In Italy a flick of your fingers under your chin is a gesture for "I don't give a shit", in America people wouldn't know what the hell you're trying to show. See what I'm getting at here? The stereotype of anime is a misunderstanding. There is no such thing as an Anime art style, and therefore art drawn by an outsider of Japan is not Anime, no matter how much it may resemble their animation. Again, for the last fucking time, the definition of Anime is animation that has originated in Japan. That's it, nothing else. There is no Anime art style. Most Japanese animation features people with pointy chins and large eyes, that doesn't mean the style can be labeled Anime. Just like we don't label cartoons to one specific style, you shouldn't do that with Anime. A lot of Western animation has talking animals, that doesn't mean you're going to label a drawing of a talking animal as a cartoon.
You can label an art style as anime because they have a stereotypical way of drawing their cartoons. How is this not getting through? Yes, I have never misunderstood you. And it doesn't change jack shit of what I've said. Ahahahahaha, misunderstanding my ass. Some 75-80% of anime is drawn in the same style, they have made a common setup for how to draw their characters so it's easier to animate and clean up so that you don't have to rely on specific people to maintain the correct style throughout the whole damn show. It's seriously low budget products most of them. Again, for the last fucking time, the definition of anime is indeed animation and we use it to specify Japanese animation. I'm being picky about this because you are being picky about it. It can, because we don't have a stereotypical way of drawing cartoons whereas they do. That's why you can label a specific way of drawing as anime and not just a cartoon drawing. Obviously not because we have chosen to call those antromorphic drawings.
can you guys just stop arguing this is getting really boring.
Mwahahahaha.
I'm drawing a zombie lady: [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/R5yoke.png[/img_thumb]
I like it, but you should clean it up with some harder brushes. And keep working on it overall of course. As for colour blending you either do as Detlef, chose basecolours and highlits and shadows for them and use only those colours. Or you use the eyedropper after drawing with one colour over another with opacity and take that result (and without having tried it and came up with it at the spot now) increase it's saturation and use that as the in-between blend. Repeat if you want it smoother. Can remove a lot of life and shape in the drawing though. Or rather. It will.
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5270753/clinteastwood.jpg[/img_thumb] Felt like painting a Clint Eastwood aswell because he is badass. JPG quality cba to fix it.
Sweet, kind late to post but you should fix his lips, in the original you can see how they part and in yours it seems like he just has a hole in his mouth.
idk where to go from here i suck [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/PyVEo.png[/img_thumb] I also can't pick the right colors to save my life
Mouth isn't wide enough and the lips aren't parted enough either.
Drawing me some shoes as one of those tasks to get in at that one school. Hard as fuck when you can't really draw. Reference: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655193/ShoesReference.jpg[/img_thumb] As you can see I've gone over parts of it to pure brush from bad brush pressure sensitivity shit.
Think I'm gonna get drawing more from now on, almost forgot how fun it is :)

Think that belongs in the music section [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] can't believe how people mess that up I mean I wouldn't go posting drawings in the music section
I figured this section was for general stuff, my bad
but it's creative and not threadworthy
There is a thread for that here http://www.facepunch.com/threads/955481-Creative-Music-In-Progress-V1-lt-Country-Edition-gt [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] Maybe add that to the OP?
NO NO NO NO NO The way you're going about creating/drawing explosions is as time consuming as taking a constipated dump. If you are using PHOTOSHOP, Right click on your LAYER, Select 'Blending Options' then select OUTER GLOW and adjust and select the the color fitting for the splosion (orange is usually the safest one), select another color (preferably a brighter orange, or yellow, if you're feeling really ballsy you can even use white) and see how it looks (also adjust the spread and size of the glow to better suit what you need it for). Try this. [editline]12th March 2011[/editline] Infact having an entire layers dedicated to flames and splosions and all that jazz is perfectly fine.
this guy's advice + 15 minutes = also first photoshop painting!
can you guys just stop arguing this is getting really boring.
but seriously who actually likes or values dgg? [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] all he does is be overly critical of everything (and is often just wrong) and then goes and posts pretty terrible artwork himself harsh but true
I like him but you are right, he does do that.
I value dgg for his viking beard
enough on the toitle for today, my hand hurts. still needs some touching up and changes but overall it's pretty much there i reckon. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19936378/mantanani_turtle3.png[/img_thumb]
Does it say... mantanani? Oh shit lol i just noticed the image name.
I'd prefer overcritical to undercritical any day. I'd hate to go around thinking I'm the best when I'm really just a piss pot. I like the way Dgg crits, even though it sometimes makes me sad.
