It's finished.
The light in the photo makes it look pale..
Started working on it somewhere in the begining of the school..October/November?
Yeah...umm, there is one little detail missing. I couldn't bother to do it..small green triangles in the bottom exterior corners of the covers..
I hope I'll be able to make another one in my lifetime to come..
I feel hungry for waffles
We should have an Artist of the Week award.
It could entail a lot of things like, whomever has most improved, or is generally liked by everybody. and stuff. I think it'd be fun for the community. But i'm just thinking out loud here.
this will be my latest update on her for a while, really need to work on my class project now...

(Main fix: her gigantic upper incisors were trimmed...)
Damn it! I want to work on this instead of coding on my coding project for my class.
Need to come up with a beta version on April 1st,
and I need to meet with my adviser tomorrow to show him my progress.
Why everything turns boring and tedious when it becomes 'work?'
I love coding, but I had coding because I have to :(
C&C welcome, I'll make the changes when I get back to it again, probably this weekend, I hope...
any ideas for a background yet?
her lips look like a separate entity from her face, they poke out and theyre so pointy!!!
Thinking about a reef next to the shore with bunch of tropical fish and marine organisms.

Will note it down for next revision.
Her mouth been nagging me for along time :x
who the hell plans a background after the object is done.
That will turn out compleatly wrong
Well, I do it most of the time lol.
I didn't even know I was painting a mermaid when I started to be honest.
I just add stuff when I think of something and go with the flow.
Gotta admit it's not the best work flow, but I hate being locked onto something from the start.
It'll be hard to change the secondary lighting if it's painted into the object.
I only have primary lighting in the scene, so I just need to add secondary lighting when I add the lighting.
The blue secondary lighting can be easily removed as it is on a different layer.
Tonal change is easy with photoshop too to change the brightness of the sun.
im not a fan of the mermaid thing
im not a fan of the mermaid thing
I never made a none-human humanoid ;
that is, human, organism, and monsters were all I did.
I thought it would be a nice attempt in doing something int he middle.
I hate furry, so mermaid was the first thing that came to my mind.
(Opposite of fur/feather is scale lol)
she should be half SHARK
So here's my first serious attempt at drawing a realistic human being.

Problems that I've found, but don't know how to fix:
*Long face
*Small eyes
*Oddly proportioned shoulders
*Weird mouth
Anybody have any tips?
Okay here you go baby

Just a link because its an A3 sized painting in full res: (3,6 mb in .jpeg)

My first real attempt at using my tablet, I think it turned out pretty awesome. It took a long time though but that's probably because of my shitty methods (low opacity brushes stacked till I get the required shade, but I was going for that rough style.) And as you might have noticed, I did trace the outlines of all the guys to get them to look a bit human, instead of mutated potatoe people. The rest is fully hand drawn though (Exept for the background clouds, which are from a different source)
It looks a lot better on the shiny paper though, but that's probably because its scaled down a lot too.
I liked drawing this and I might do stuff like this again in the future, so can I have some kind c&c on this?

I really like where this is going, but it really needs some darker values. You could try messing with the contrast and levels for a quick and dirty fix
If it's a drawing of an actual pile of shit I will not be impressed.

You got a lot to learn before you can start doing tutorials

Cool but use larger, harder brushes with 75-100% opacity and never, ever use white or black in your paintings. It's a matter of values.

Like I said, I'm no expert, it was just a tutorial on basic perspective
How do you guys start to draw a head?
