also i think im doing it the really noob way, i put the reference picture in Ps and draw grid on it then try draw the same next to it.

Because that way I don't have to make the transition and learn to paint digitally. May as well learn how to draw right on the computer.

I have a feeling that you started drawing this and adding details along the way rather than drawing the head's basic shape, since it's a bit off

I'll just keep re-drawing it till it looks nice. Yet another one of those tasks to get into one of those schools. One person and a random subject of your wish placed in a room in a situation.

I'll have a huge rat chained to a wall whilst the person is touching it's arms in the dark. I'll probably do it digital by tracing my traditional drawings. Or make it into a digital cut-out composition using scanned drawings.

Your understanding of 3D is still a bit off, but you're getting there. Your drawing would work better as a caricature, unfortunately, but while they are a bit exaggerated, you're getting the shapes of faces and face parts a bit better.

Well. I did a better job with the fucked up looking feet and arms of a rat as well as the tail on the first try. But other than that this turned out way better.

Stuck more to the first rat, because, well it's self explained isn't it? They don't mix well together.

The rat in the photo has a weird thick cheek and that doesn't translate well into the drawing. Looks like he's got a cartoony mouth now.
