Yet another reason to hate Gamestop (Like we didn't already)

EB Games in Canada is even worse for selling games, though.
I had a brand new copy of Kingdom Hearts 2 that was mailed to me when I already had the game. I went to sell it to EB Games.
"Well, we can give you 4 cents for it."
Are you fucking kidding me? It's still in the plastic.
This, EB Games in Canada (Really Game Stop wearing a corpse) is total bullshit. I currently have a game pre-ordered at my local EB Games, that will be the last time I buy anything from EB Games.
No, it is however illegal to sell to people who do not match the age requirement.
Wrong. There was a California law that sought to make it illegal to sell M rated games to minors but it was struck down in the Supreme Court. Gamestop, as with most stores, won't sell M rated video games to minors because of company policy, however.
No. your the minority. In 06 they wanted 20$ for my xbox and the 30 games that came with it. The most you will ever get is 15$ and thats if the game is brand new. Gamestop is famous for giving really bad deals with used games because thats where they get most of there money.
Why would they give me 71 dollars for a bunch of old games nobody really wants anymore? I personally think that was a good deal.
Yeah it's terribly laggy to anyone who doesn't live within a mile of their data centres.
Actually, I probably live further than that away from a data center. F.E.A.R 3 lags up the ass in mouse latency, but Homefront performs just fine.
To people saying "Who cares, OnLive sucks."
It's the principle of the matter, not the object itself.
And the only reason I like Gamestop is because they sell used games. As long as it works, and I can get it for a cheaper, and sometimes what I consider reasonable, price, I'll get it.
Their prices for when you sell a game? Complete rip-off.
Oh, and I remember one time an employee mentioned that they had PC games in the back. I just said "Thanks, but I know that Steam exists." :v:

I'm not joking when in 06 they said they would give me 75 cents for knights of the old republic.

I don't think it's different. I like my local gamestop. They sell used games for like, 30 bucks cheaper than the new game. And since they bought those games for 71 bucks, I'll be selling stuff there more often.
I don't know why you would really want to use OnLive anyway.
I really don't get why people pound on OnLive. It's free, for fuck's sake. If you want to see for yourself if it's any good or not just download the damn thing.
Honestly, OnLive is a fucking wonderful thing when you look at it. I've got this dinky little netbook that I use while I'm at my mum's house, and with OnLive, I can actually play games that I want to play, and it all runs smoothly.

/gamestop fails.
I offered about 10 games that were in good condition and they offered $12, I said I would rather go home and throw them away.
I started using Goozex for my trade in games. You get a ton of value for them, but the downside is you're stuck waiting for games you want to get, until someone trades it to you. I wanted FIFA 11, but Goozex didn't have any available (I was at the end of a stagnant 25+ person waiting list...), so i went to check the game stops around town.
They offered me about 5 for trading in FIFA World Cup 2010, and the used game was about 45. So, while not terrible, a game that is almost a year old was only about 10 less than the new copy. Wasn't too pleased, but oh well, i got my game.

My point exactly.
I wasn't aware people still bought PC games at GameStop
Diablo 2 battle chest.
But that one I only got because I had the money on me and it was closer than the bank.
Why would you care unless you actually like Onlive/play games on Onlive. This $50 they're taking away from you isn't actually worth $50 as most of you wouldn't buy these games for Onlive anyway. If you hate gamestop then just buy your stuff from Walmart or amazon.com. Seriously, if you don't like gamestop then just stop using it completely and drop their sales - that's how capitalism works.
Gamestop sucks. I once pre-ordered a PS3 from them, and when the time came around to pick it up, I went to the store. I enter just as another person leaves with a PS3 box under their arm. I walk up to the counter, show them my recipt for the PS3, and they say, "Oh, sorry, we're all out." I had to wait a whole extra week later for my PS3 than they guaranteed it.

I'm possibly remembering this wrong, but wasn't the PS3 supply unable to meet demand, just like the Xbox and Wii?
The fact remains that they weren't able to fufill their guarantee that I would have a PS3 when they said. Besides, I pre-ordered it. Supply has nothing to do with it, my order was placed.

Did you expect them to pull a PS3 out of their ass for you? If anything it was probably sony/some logistics company's fault for not delivering the quoted PS3 supply that was given to them from that store's preorder list...
Isn't it illegal to refuse to sell games to people regardless of age?
No. It's called the ESRB rating system.

It's not just OnLive. It's the principle that they'll monkey around with the publisher's publication without announcing it, announcing their plans to the publisher, and behind everyone else's back to assure people remain ignorant of a competitor's experience.
And it's not enough to just "stop using it completely," it's important that people are actually AWARE of what's going on. If I stop voting with my wallet, I'm only accomplishing a fraction of what I could do if I then posted about what upset me online, or displayed my experiences to others. That way boycotting a store spreads and gains support.
my experiences to others. When you by a used game the developers get non of that money and it all goes to gamestop. Sure it will be 5$ more but now your supporting the people who make the games instead of gamestop.

Well, you're still supporting Gamestop, you're just supporting them a bit less. Buy online if it's that big a deal.
For L4D2 preorder I almost didn't get my Bill Beret cuz of them... I asked them if they had the preorder bonus for early demo and preorder exclusive... for the rest of the 2 months I had no early demo. I asked them on the day of release then they found the code. Fucking blind assholes i say.
[editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
Then for Portal 2, I actually got the preorder bonus... the robo cage but not the pin. FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

They can take our OnLive coupons, they can rip us off on trade-ins, but nobody takes... OUR ACCESSORIES!

I don't order online because the people in my apartment steal a lot.
I still have one outstanding game that I have to wait and pick up from them... Diablo 3. They so called promise to give me the early beta this time around.

The Pin was a Steam pre-order bonus, only.
Heh, wow. This is gonna cut Gamestops sales by a tonne, just a small thing like this saying that they've tampered with a game to remove content that should be given by default for the customers will impact on their sales from people not wanting to shop there every again.
i like my local gamestop
nice and knowledgeable guys work there
and it smells like plywood
[editline]26th August 2011[/editline]
