Funny thing is that this will probably attract way more attention to Onlive than just leaving the coupons in the box would have, the way I found out about Onlive was from reading the article and I bought Just Cause 2 from it about 2 hours later.
They gave me a 50 dollar gift card for this debacle. It's funny because the coupon was still in the case.
It's not just OnLive. It's the principle that they'll monkey around with the publisher's publication without announcing it, announcing their plans to the publisher, and behind everyone else's back to assure people remain ignorant of a competitor's experience.
How about the publisher's principle of including such promotions without announcing it, announcing their plans to the distributor, and behind everyone else's back to assure distributors remain ignorant of the fact that they're selling a product promoting a direct competitor?
Gamestop is hardly the only party at fault. They're under no obligation to promote their competitors, and if the inclusion of the promotion wasn't explicitly stated by the publisher, then the publisher screwed them over.
I don't like Gamestop, I don't buy my games there, but they're getting dogpiled over something that only occurred because the publisher decided to be a bag of dicks and not tell them exactly what they were selling.
Heh, wow. This is gonna cut Gamestops sales by a tonne, just a small thing like this saying that they've tampered with a game to remove content that should be given by default for the customers will impact on their sales from people not wanting to shop there every again.
Or not very much, considering every videogame related "boycott" ends the day they start. Gamestop being a shit company and screwing over their customers in some way isn't new, the fact that people still go and continue to preorder and spend their money there after the said screwing proves that
