Did you choose your topic? I always choose something that I'm interested in, which is normally just something that will provoke an arguement or outrage from my fellow classmates (Like my karl marx paper, which I assume will have me paraded by "YOU FUCKING NAZI" In which i could just start bantering on about how karl marx called religion the opiate of the people and that communism is the next step in social evolution and how their small minds are too small to comprehend the subject.
It would piss them off and probably cause an arguement between the liberals of my class, the conservatives of my class, and have my teacher be the mediator, even though every fight that's broken out in class my teacher would lean towards the liberals side until we cross the line or get too loud.

I am in AP US history 10th grade. I am in the process of writing a 16 page term paper.
I too am a great procrastinator but coming from writing a 16 pager first semester I learned to not put it off. What I do is think of having to have 2 more pages every two days as a homework assignment. Too late for you I fear. Get tons of sources. Just spill everything out onto the page. Start reading and remember any information you get, cite. If your gonna use chicago style citation it might be easier if you use in-text citations, atleast its how I like to write my papers, follow each citation with a parenthetical mention of the author and the page you found the information.
(Author, Year, p. X) this would be in the actual text and at the end of your paper include a bibliographic reference page with full information on the source.
alternatively you can use footnotes in which case you can do it in this form.
Author's Name, Name of Text Cited(City:Publisher, Year), page(s)
include a footnote in the text and this ^ would be located at the bottom of your paper.
