god damn people it's five bucks you can make more that in an hour with a minimum wage job and still have enough left over to buy yourself a nice drink from the local market
Remarkably decent. Give the free trial a shot once it's available.

The rock-bottom pricing of the app store works because people can sell volume.
It doesn't work for a very niche app like this, where you have a super limited audience. We only have 25k active users on here, not all of which have an iOS device.
Therefore, we can't price with volume in mind. That's why the price is relatively high.
You do have a good point. But at least lower the price a little. 2,40 I think is the midprice for apps.
I have no complaints over the price. From what I've seen, Hexxeh has worked very hard on it, and is very talented.

This could really be sold for more.
I have like 10 bucks on my iTunes store account that I got from a gift card, so techincally it will be free for me.

If you take a look at more niche apps on iTunes, the average is considerably higher. If you want an example, I saw an app that was a flight logbook, let pilots replace paper with their iPad. Super niche, but still a very simple app: £45. There are lots of apps that fall into this category, and yet consumers are stuck with the mentality that every app should cost $0.99. It's a mentality that produces very low quality apps, sadly.
what if someone wants to make a free app? will they have to pay a fee? will users have to pay for a fee? this whole model is a restrictive mess.
I have API access, and I didn't have to pay a fee of any sorts.
Also, I have $5.50 sitting on my iTunes account just sitting there waiting for this.

Probably because compwhizii set one up for you.
It's essentially up to garry what happens with them, I don't have any control over that. Happy to deal with it if he gives me access though.
Not sure if this has been answered before but: is there an option to disable avatars (and images if they get implemented) from loading? It's crucial for me since I have a very limited data plan.
And ratings/thread icons are part of the app, right (as opposed they need to load from online)?
I will purchase it. However, the tab bar icons look like shit as well as the way you've chosen to display the ratings buttons. Take a look at: http://glyphish.com/ for some quality tab bar icons. You're free to use them if you credit them.

Ratings icons are in the app bundle, yup. Threads icons aren't used yet, so they're nowhere.
I can add an option to non display avatars.
Wait, you have to buy this? fuck it I'll use the mobile web browser

The retina versions aren't free, we need retina icons.
I'm not sure, the price seems a bit high.
I know its up to comp- wait shit, compwhizii is gone? What about pictures?
Also, do us, beta testers, get a discount or something?
The retina versions aren't free, we need retina icons.
Would you want to modify these?

There's a nice settings icon and speech bubble.
The problem with it being steep isn't that it's only a few cups of coffee, it's that you can get it for free if you use any free browser out there.

I've taken over writing the API from compwhizii.
Beta testers who provided excellent feedback will receive a complimentary copy. I'll contact these once we're in the store and provide them with promo codes. I only have two users in mind for this.

And use 10x the mobile data, and take much more time to navigate.
As some of you may know, I was among the group of testers. The app is extremely well made and smooth. It's way worth $5, trust me.
I think a good chunk of the users who don't understand why it's worth $5 and would rather use a browser will be converted by the trial, but we'll see.
oh yeah, is my loadscreen image still there?
oh yeah, is my loadscreen image still there?
Nah, on checking the guidelines, you can't use it as a splash screen.
Now the default image is just the background, since it has to be something that looks like the first view the users sees.

Aw man, that loading screen looked pretty nice.

Apple rules, blame them. :(
What's up with the review process, consumable vs non- , any news?
I'll get it once it has a native iPad version, I'd rather use the normal website than a scaled up iPhone app. Is that too much work for what it is right now?
What's up with the review process, consumable vs non- , any news?
Appealing to App Review Board, awaiting response. I don't see them having a problem with that part once they understand my implementation, but they might flag up something else.

I don't see why you are so bothered with profit? I know it's took you a long time to develop this but like you said, it's an extremely limited market so why limit your self even more with the price? It's not like the app is ground breaking..

Recession/age.

Uh, because I've spent a long time on it and I want to make some money on that time spent? If you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. Would you want some money for something you'd spent hundreds of hours on writing? I think so.
If we wanted API access, who would we have to contact?
I'm interested in playing around with it.
