That beard
Could anyone put a hat on my avatar please? and fix the avatar so that it's the right size? I'm not so good at making avatars.
Would be cool if you put a hat on the baby in the crotch
Can I have a christmas hat?
I'm going to be as rude as always and ask if anyone would kindly plop a santa hat on my dorf.
Might need to scale him down a bit. Or fit the hat on the beard...

I can remove the border, but the hat'll still be cut off.
Here's a gif of the snow I used.

You gotta figure out how to use it yourself tho´

word, that looks quite nice in application (albeit the framerate is a bit annoying)

Might as well post the source which I greyscaled, made everything black transparent and then cut to size:

Are you guys merging the actual gif with the avatar? I'm yet to find out how to do that and maintain all the frames.

Yep, I use GIMP for it, it's tedious and repetitive my way, but the result speaks for itself.

It would work best over a static avatar rather an animated, but you would want to import the snow gif to photoshop, then paste the avatar you're editing under all the frame layers. Set them all to the right layer style and it should work.

When you import the avatar though, assuming the snow is a functioning gif, the avatar only uses the first frame of the avatar.

save the .gif rather than copy/pasting?
or do you mean when you try to put the snow over the already gif avatar

Which is why I said it works best for previously static avatars that you're adding snow to. It's going to be a lot more work to essentially merge the two gifs with the snow screened on top, because you're going to have to manually copy frame by frame, and if they don't match in frames (the snow gif is 19 frames), then you'll have to do even more work...
[editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
I used my current avatar as an example real quick (lost the shine though).
Import the gif into photoshop as normal (File > Import > Video Frames to Layers), paste the static avatar in a new layer at the very bottom of all the frame layers. It should automatically be visible on all frames.

After this, it's just a time consuming process of selecting each frame, then setting the associated snow layer to Screen mode. It's 19 frames, so it's not too bad. And voila! Animated snow avatar.

(I should also note I set the frame delay from .15s to .1s, I think it looks smoother)

Yes that I understood fine, It's the merging of two complete gifs together that I am completely lost on.
Yes that I understood fine, It's the merging of two complete gifs together that I am completely lost on.
ok so my circle avatar was 118 frames
the snow gif i used (which i actually can't post, its a bigass mov i converted to gif in photoshop, but my photoshop only supports video import on 32bit, and it's too big (200 frames at 1080p) for 4 gigs of ram to save) has 239 frames.
so i had to cut half the frames first, then i had to remove the alternating 7th and 8th frame
then it was 118, then i selected all frames and layers in the snow, hit copy frames in the animation menu, then i selected all frames in the circle gif, hit paste frames using paste over selection and link pasted frames
group all those layers it just made and you can move the snow around and set it to screen

Yeah, that's going to be a lot more work. You'd have to manually copy every frame over from one file to the other. The most you can hope for is a gif that works nicely in 19 (round to 18) frames. Basically anything 2, 3, 6, 9, or 18 frames. The snow is 9, but I think you could drop one frame and still have a decent animation....
