So throughout my summer classes I've been getting down and dirty with the materials I had at the time, which consisted of various amounts of paper and a mechanical pencil I brought along for the ride. I began sketching out my thoughts and imaginings, then I realized, It's been awhile since I've posted any of my "hand-created" work on these forums. So without further ado...
(and yes I edited some of them but only the gradient)
Let's start off with my favourite piece I did from my classes,

Bonus points if you can read everything i put on there. Yeah, I do graffiti, off the streets though. I've been working on my IRL spraycanning skills and they really haven't gotten me anywhere yet. So alas, paper.
This is a work I did with a pen (gasp) but it's a traditional work none the less. mmm don't you just love pens. I think I was using a Bic...or a Uniball. Not sure, either way here you go.

: D i rove it. Those are the Kanji Characters for (left to right) ART and PASSION. But by putting them together I probably insulted someone's mother. My apologies.

Here begins my practice with busts and statues that I conveniently and secretly brought up with my G1 during class time (i am such a naughty boy). This bust... I'm pretty sure it's Homer. (the Illiad homer not the yellow one)

This one is a statue of two Greek wrestlers. I'm almost certain they are greek mostly because the word Barbarian comes from a latin word meaning "bearded one" and when the Romans went to the Greeks they called them "Barbarians". Not to mention wrestling originated in Greece so there's that too. (yes i am smart, be ware!)

Bronze statue of Mars/Ares. 'Nuff said. (Though technically it's Mars, note the roman style skirt armour, the pilum (spear), and helm. (helmet)

This one came out of my head, I know, I know the proportions on his crossed legs are off but oh well.
I might be updating this thread with more Pencil work, thanks for looking.
As always, CandC
hope you enjoyed.

-snip-
tis indeed. but I ain't got no munnies to fund my artistic endeavors.
So I probably won't be able to get as fancy as that ^ in a while.
you must be really broke then, cause that probably costs 25 bucks all together, just a guess though.

At the moment i'm saving for something. Other than that I'm funded by nothing until I finish school.
These are amazing K00l. I've seen the second and third one before but the other ones are pretty sweet.
Amazing work, i'm loving it.
Amazing indeed, I love the very first one!
e-mazing
Wheres the strings on the last one...
I interpreted he playing some kind of string instroment?

I never bothered myself to finish it. I was about to do that part and then classes ended so I jolted out of there in a huff.
Only 3 problems. :)
The wrestling one, the pectorals from what I can see are way too low, and the head is not sitting on the neck right...I think its too bent and close to the shoulders...Either way it would be broke, and then the nose on the final piece with the string instrument, it is off in perspective.
Great works!!
Crap.
That's freaking amazing.

Actually each of those markers is about $6, and the set of Faber Castel pens are $12. So he's right, they are expensive. But they are really nice to work with.

yeah... a six dollar marker and a set of 12 dollar pens are out of my league unfortunately.
what exactly are they for anyway? nothing a little skilled pencil work and a dab of water could do! .... right?
i've never worked with them.
I love your art! The only thing I was gonna say is that I wish the statue of Mars looked less stone-like. But it's a statue, that's what it's supposed to look like. lol

It's actually a bronze statue.

Actually it's as close as digital painting as you can get with real paper. The markers are fantastic, they have a different, much different feel than any of the other classic mediums, they have their own style. You have to try them to find that out, give them a try when you can.
amazing!
