I had to do community service for a speeding ticket once. I met this one guy that was an ex-speed (or current speed) addict. He had been doing community service for 2 years after jail and had 6 months left, so we chatted for a bit. On the topic of religion I told him, "Yea I'm a Christian." and he told me he didn't believe in God or anything like that. I asked him "Do you believe in anything?" and he replies, "If I do, I believe in myself." I'm not saying believing in yourself is wrong, but if thats the only thing you've got going for your life and you don't want to believe in anything else, then at least make your life mean something. Otherwise believing in just yourself will get you where this guy was. I guess its all about choice.
I'm a christian, but I have great respect for athiests, much more than some stupid ignorant religious people because at least Athiests are looking for the truth not basing everything on faith alone.
I don't mind religion. As long as they don't try to push their beliefs on me I can be completely accept them as well as anyone else. Also I think the whole "I don't say 'under god' because I'm atheist. :downs:" is stupid. Why be that anal? It's a tradition and under god could mean alot of things. It could be a metaphor for a higher good rather then the literal sense of a divine being. I'm an Atheist and I don't mind it.
Nobody should be required by the state to swear allegiance to a belief system that isn't theirs. As for the "tradition" part, it wasn't even a part of the pledge until a little over fifty years ago, when the fundamentalists got it signed into law while riding a wave of communist fears.

I believe in myself and my interests. Unless it's harming someone else, I do what I like. And I don't need a god to be a good or bad person.
Once you'll start addressing your "god" as "the christian god", you'll start realizing how narrow minded you are towards "the christian god" and not accepting the 10000 other "gods" out there and see how dumb you are.

why can't we all just get along I <3 all religious/athiests.
Only if you act like one of the retarded Atheists who go around screaming shit in your face and denouncing my religion, then i hate you. most of my friends are atheists and im catholic fucking hate them. wait who the hell bumped this? i thought this was dead
What is up with people nowdays. I mean, fine, someone doesn't trust in god or whatever, but what's wrong with it? Does it de-power god or something? Of course not. I honestly don't see why this is SUCH a big deal. It's like if you hacked Barack Obama's password or something and posted it on the internet or whatever, not something you would be seeing related to religion. I can just imagine that happening in games sometime soon. "I'm a atheist!" "lawl fux off11" *permabanned for being gay*
In Britain nobody really gives a fuck about religion.
I'm an athiest, and i still loled at the athiest convention XD
At the end of the day religion in general in my opinion play's too big a role in society, its welcome that you believe in your chosen faith and it should be welcome anywhere but it should not take priority over things people do everyday id like to see religion be more of a recreational thing than that of a core thing in my opinion i mean it works both ways in such that religion can be a good and bad thing but in a lot of cases the pro's do not outweigh the con's. Yes i am atheist because i choose logic and understanding over belief? does that make a bad person? well if you think it does then shame on you for being discriminatory, i have no problem with anyone's belief and i treat everyone i meet IRL with the utmost dignity and kindness they deserve and so should anyone else regardless of they're beliefs. But its everyone's human right to believe what they want to believe, and that should never change no one religion is above another yet history have taught us that people from various religions, believed that they're chosen religion was greater than that of anyone else's and war's have ensued because of it. The sooner people realise we are just here to live and enjoy the life we are given as equals and to get along with each other the sooner the wrong's of the world will be righted. And id like to see how arguments over ones superiority of faith can solve that!! ( i have no problem with any religion this paragraph is not there to criticize or flame anyone or any religion it is merely my view's and opinion's any supportive or constructive criticism is welcome thanks for reading )
If being an atheist makes your life horrible, and being delusional makes your life amazing, I say go ahead and be delusional because refusing to be delusional to prove a point isn't worth it.
What a defeatist attitude you have. Goddamn pussy. [editline]02:50AM[/editline]
Agnostic is the term you're refering to. I find it funny how most people don't realise that atheists believe they'll become part of a tree.
Well, yeah if you want to be meta about it. Technically there is a chance that the atoms comprising your body will be used in the creation of a tree at some point in time. Maybe. Though that wouldn't be you, it'd just be some atoms that were, at one time, in your body. Not that this means anything because it's a fucking Dane Cook segment and he's full of shit anyway. So that story kind of falls flat? It means under God. :downs: Religion deserves no respect at all and is only a tool used to control people.
I'm not saying your life sucks if you don't believe in God, my point is if you only believe in yourself, don't waste your life on something stupid like speed. Like he did.
... Shouldn't that apply to everyone? That really has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.
The only type of religous person I can't stand is one that hates athiests because we feel differently. I have never once in my life said I hated (or ever disliked) someone for their beliefs, go ahead, believe anything you want I don't care, just leave me out of it and we will be fine.
fuck Christians.
:frown: me bein a christian, i obviously don't give a fuck if your athiest or from another religion or whatever. If you are cool with me ill be cool with you. Love Everyone no matter what happens <3 (it's in da bible look it up)
I have been discriminated by Christians towards my lack in faith. During P.E. I was talking to this group of girls when suddenly the topic of Jesus came to surface... I said I didn't beilive, and they all said "Oh really? I hate you." You are not required to believe me, that is what they said word to word.
That was exciting, I'm glad only half my school is like that

Even I, a Christian, think that those people are douchebags. All of the people I go to church with (mostly kids and old people lol) are some of the nicest people on Earth, and would never do anything like this. But then, the world is filled with hate and intolerance. And come on Atheists, why do you have to be so aggressive towards religion? "We know we're right and your wrong" "God isn't real" "Fuck Christians" You're no better than the people in that video.
As far as I'm concerned, at best religion is harmless, at worst it leads to the justification of murder and other crazy things. Not only is it harmful for society as a whole, but it's also illogical, since there is no proof of the existence of god/spirits, therefore the logical conclusion is that they don't exist, if you disagree with this notion, then by the same logic you would have to accept everything you heard as the truth. Why is it still around? [editline]11:43PM[/editline]
Even I, a Christian, think that those people are douchebags. Besides the fact that it is harmful, it's simply not fucking true/logical.
I fucking hate Religious debates. There is always going to be arguing and in the end somebody is going to be butthurt.
we should all just believe in hypnotoad

Well, whether she's just doing this for attention, or not. They should respect her beliefs, she's there to learn, not pray. If there is school/town that has mostly atheism, then that's for her. Christians(people in the town, students in the schools) can be cunts, they don't just understand, that's all.
