I'm a Deist, but I go to an all-boys Catholic academy. People don't look at me any differently, except for the hardcore Christians. I've even seen people become agnostic because they think Christianity is too odd for them to accept.
But, I have nothing against those that do believe, because it's, well, a belief. I can't change that. Saying "well you can't prove he exists" is an entirely inane argument in itself, because it's one personal belief, and to say you have to prove something you believe in is like telling someone to prove that the universe is curved and infinite, or to count the number of miles in the universe. It's impossible.
That which can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without it.
I still have difficulty understanding exactly why people are still religious in our modern times.
I've always wondered why you have to >be< an atheist. For me it's enough just to not believe in anything.
Learn the definition of atheism..
Atheism : Absense of belief in any gods.
Therefore if you don't believe in anything then you're an atheist.
Yes, I fucking realize that religion does a lot of bad things. It also gives some people hope when they need it. It also keeps a good amount of people from being worthless emo pieces of shit over the fact that they believe they have nothing to work for.
I mean... Come on. We have a ton of idiots in christianity, but can't you people think of a different solution than HURF DURF ABOLISH RELIGION FOREVER HURF DURF.
If religion is all that can give you hope and give you motivation to live, then you are pitiful and mentally weak.
And no. That's because there is no other solution that will solve the problem.
Sending an atheist to a Christan school... brilliant!

The majority of the population is pitiful and mentally weak. Look around.
I was raised as a christian and went through the christian traditions and stuff
Even though the belief in god has been rooted into my mind since birth I still find it fucking rediculous believeing in god.
I'm an athiest. My friends know but my parents don't know.
Athiests seem to be pretty intolerant. All the Christians here said they don't care what someone's religion is, while all the Athiests are saying "lol chishtans r stoopid". That's probably why they're the most hated minority.
Been an atheist all my life, glad that my parents didn't force religion on me (They're christian)
I moved to British Columbia about 7 years back now from Scotland, and a majority of the people here are atheist as well. I think it's because of the giant mixing bowl that is Canada, there's so many different types of people from all over the world that religion never really had a chance in Canada.
So glad I live in the Northeast, faith isn't a huge deal here, and most of my friends are athiest, and me and my religious friends get along fine.
Sort of sucks though, my whole family is pretty religious, especially my aunt and uncle, who work as de-facto missionaries in developing countries, which would piss me off a little, but they also help the community a lot, my aunt teaches and my uncle does carpenter work (which I find a little ironic), so I can at least see a half-decent reason for it.

This is exactly my point. I don't consider myself an atheist. Still, I do not believe in gods.

Well no shit they say that on the internet, in real life they're the most hated minority in America. Of coruse they're pissed off.
That's like saying all the gamers in Australia must be violent, hateful people because they threaten Atkinson so much.
There's no logical reason to be an Atheist. It only means you're saying there's DEFINITELY no God.
There is actually a good chance that somehow God exists. But go on, believe whatever you damn well please, it in no way affects me.
This is exactly my point. I don't consider myself an atheist. Still, I do not believe in gods.
But that means you are an atheist by definition.
That's like saying, "Now I'm not a vegetarian, but I only eat vegetables."

No it doesn't. Shut the fuck up with that shit.
Please, elaborate for us.

Wtf... did she go to a freaking catholic school or something? I've never seen any schools actually pray publicly during a sporting event.
But please, don't hate Catholics because of all the stupid people you see on the internet. There are many people who are christian that actually have some common sense... the people in this video however don't.
I mean I knew some who were atheists but I wasn't all up in their face saying "REPENT BITCH!!!" :v:
I thought the whole idea of America's first ammendment was supposed to be that you let people believe whatever they want to as long as it doesn't threaten the safety of others. Lately though, people have been taking these concepts to a level in which it may become ridiculous. Now people are becoming so stupid as to start suing people for practicing their religion. (aka Christmas songs and banners are not PC)
The point is, I agree that you shouldn't force your religious beliefs on anyone, but conversely, they shouldn't try to impede the practice of other people's religious beliefs.
/rant
But seriously, common sense is something that many people seem to lack these days.
actually atheists are the most welcomed.

One could argue that accepting that there's an invisible force that created humans with special intent and wants you to do certain things sort of negates common sense.
Common sense doesn't even mean anything anyway. What matters is evidence based reasoning.
Wow, I mean I'm a Christian and that is just crazy....my state too!
I am disappoint.
But the Dad is retarded, violating the Constitution? Please.
So what, you find it crazy that the faculty was conspiring against her yet you don't think that violates the constitution?
Bitch pleeeeeeease.
So shes saying that she doesnt want people praying around her, I bet if it was a school of atheists and a catholic they wouldn't let that student pray.
I'm Christian. I got nothing against atheists. If they don't believe, okay. I got no problem.
I'm the atheist version of that. I'm an atheist, but I've got nothing against Christians. Let them believe what they want, I'm not gonna be a dick about it.
I'm a Christian and I have nothing against atheists, but I do hate atheists when they go around ranting that others are stupid, saying they are more logical, or doing it for attention.
Girl in video is doing it for attention, I can tell cause only attention-whores push board regulations to be on a male football team (Locker room regulations, gear regulations, sexual stature amongst peers). Her dad is a prick and is trying to look macho and cool.
The Host is too fucking Biased. >.<
i'm concerned only because people try to put a start to time even though time is only a concept and just like there is no end it has no beginning
i'm concerned only because people try to put a start to time even though time is only a concept and just like there is no end it has no beginning
Who's even talking about that?
I'm willing to bet this shit goes on in a hundred schools for every one that makes it onto the evening news. What else do you expect when the local government is made up of fundamentalist Christians, the school faculty is made up of fundamentalist Christians, and the school is populated by their collective children? You think the Constitution holds any sway over a whole town's worth of religious fervor, fueled by their pastor's weekly insistence that the framers of said Constitution were all Christians who believed in a Christian nation?
With the degree to which Christianity permeates government from small townships to Washington, one could say we live in a mild theocracy already.
If being an atheist makes your life horrible, and being delusional makes your life amazing, I say go ahead and be delusional because refusing to be delusional to prove a point isn't worth it.
If being an atheist makes your life horrible, and being delusional makes your life amazing, I say go ahead and be delusional because refusing to be delusional to prove a point isn't worth it.
Apathy is childish.

Excuse me for being a bit melodramatic, but yeah, Rosa Parks totally should have sat in the back and kept her mouth shut, it would have saved her a lot of pain and suffering.
I don't mind religion. As long as they don't try to push their beliefs on me I can be completely accept them as well as anyone else.
Also I think the whole "I don't say 'under god' because I'm atheist. :downs:" is stupid. Why be that anal? It's a tradition and under god could mean alot of things. It could be a metaphor for a higher good rather then the literal sense of a divine being. I'm an Atheist and I don't mind it.
I've always wondered why you have to >be< an atheist. For me it's enough just to not believe in anything.
Agnostic is the term you're refering to.
I find it funny how most people don't realise that atheists believe they'll become part of a tree.

Isn't agnostic more like "you can't tell if there are any gods"
