That's why i particularry said "dled".
That's still downloading.
Say an officer sees you watching a film with a watermark trailing across the bottom saying 'this is a preview copy', or a folder entitled HerosDVDRIP.RAR, or notices that you've got Terra-bytes of music, or even that you have a huge upload rate over a public network and that they see these files to be torrents and the like. This would cause a huge amount of suspicion obviously. This law would enable officers to act on this and enforce all pre-existing copyright law.
Except upload traffic can be masked, folders renamed, and files encryped. The law wont help.
The REAL problem with this is it'll be making criminals of those people who download copies/use emulators. It also makes Fair Use a huge, horrible grey area. Can we not download sections of a media program to mock it on youtube? Or use stills in a parody video that came from a magazine or videogame FMV? Technically they could all be 'suspicious'. This law is completely unenforceable, and they know it, that's why it's taken so long just to get a draft out. All they can do is fine people (And if they don't pay, they go to court. Queue thousands of people in court, with the governments paying out court expenses) or send them to prison (When there is a complete lack of prison spaces in western society) It won't come into law. If it does, it won't last long before it's watered down. Piracy culture has gone on for too long, but this is not the way to go. Especially when it makes criminals out of people like me. So I'll stand by my point, scaremongering bullshit.
Going to go on a massive pirating spree and download a whole bunch of stuff that either I can't buy anymore or is really old/not worth paying for 2 days before they release this. Then after that I'll google bomb a bunch of stuff.
When I read the title I was like :crossarms:. Then I was like :derp:.
I doubt this is going to happen though. [editline]06:24AM[/editline] Damn ye youngsters and there automerge breaking!
Solution: Move to Sweden
Solution: Move to Sweden
Sweden is in EU, dummkopf.
From Wikipedia
Both the Obama administration and the Bush administration had rejected requests to make the text of ACTA public, with the White House saying that disclosure would cause "damage to the national security."
I'm sorry, that's utter bullshit.
What's it like in North Korea?
Tunisia actually, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunisia
All who are against this treaty please join the protest at http://www.anti-acta.com and http://www.occultusterra.com
i think its just /b/ being scared that their precious CP and catgore will be gone forever
Oh god, can I still watch porn?
to be honest i'd give up warez just for the porn
I couldn't actually care less, considering all my traffic should in theory already be logged (by the Swedish police) and I don't do much illegal shit on them internets anyway.
i think its just /b/ being scared that their precious CP and catgore will be gone forever
Like, seriously, u have to think waaaay bigger than /b/. Youtube could nevar continue to exist in the way it does now. Your government has the ability to block "inappropriate" websites. That's censorship, ffs. It could harm 3rd world countries relying on cheap medicines. These would be seized the moment they are shipped through any participating country where there's a patent for a similar medicine. As i've said before, stopping piracy is a good thing. But this is not the way to go.
And this mainly sounds like they're trying to make something like a globally applicable DMCA [editline]05:42PM[/editline] Oh look, automerge breakers [editline]05:43PM[/editline] @4n0n: You really think governments are just suddenly gonna start breaking human rights even more than they currently do? Not to say this is a good thing. Intellectual Property as a concept is incredibly stupid.
This is fucking bullshit. Fuck the ACTA.
Like, seriously, u have to think waaaay bigger than /b/.
4chan is a very bad place, i wouldn't care much for it anyways.
Youtube could nevar continue to exist in the way it does now.
i hate youtube.
Your government has the ability to block "inappropriate" websites.
4chan: one less site showing CP and animal abuse, shock pictures, etc.
That's censorship, ffs.
its not always a bad thing
It could harm 3rd world countries relying on cheap medicines. These would be seized the moment they are shipped through any participating country where there's a patent for a similar medicine.
i doubt that they would do anything with legitimately obtained medicines.
As i've said before, stopping piracy is a good thing. But this is not the way to go.
better than suing limewire for 200T dollars
i hope that acta stuff isn't true if yes no moar porn :C

The moderators delete the threads as fast as they can.
This stuff has been going on for awhile. It's crazy and I don't see how they would actually make the law work and enforce it.

more like dis gun b bad
Sweden is in EU, dummkopf.
If you haven't heard, the Pirate party has settled up an ISP service with nice speeds and FTP. I doubt they'll put out their "clients".
Great..........
Wow, you're ignorant. 4chan doesn't host CP, or condone it. The moderators delete the threads as fast as they can.
i just have a dislike for 4chan. And although 4chan doesn't condone it, doesn't mean that it isn't posted. it's a hotspot for bad stuff, if you haven't noticed.
lol acta [sp]It's bullshit[/sp]
Sounds like someone has never been into any other part of 4chan but /b/
i have been to other sections of 4chan, but /b/ is horrible enough to say that it is a horrible website.
i have been to other sections of 4chan, but /b/ is horrible enough to say that it is a horrible website.
FP is a horrible website because of OIFY
FP is a horrible website because of OIFY
Although oify is technically part of FP, it is not directly linked from FP. At leas OifY is kept hidden, [editline]09:11AM[/editline] why do you seem so obligated to defend 4chan anyways?
