I am a man, because that
Thanks Otsegolation, you've summed up exactly what things are. Maybe some people won't understand it, but I do.
Except at very small levels particles of matter zip in and out of existence with no seeming ebb or flow. At this level things are very unpredictable and thus gives the allowance of consciousness.
Perhaps such happenings are only unpredictable because of our current inability to understand them?
This planet will end up worse than when we found it, I assure you.
Worse? Well, yeah. Africa used to be in 3 pieces some time ago.
I think that, out of all the philosophers throughout humanity, lil jon has it right. The greatest understanding comes through asking the most basic of questions and tackling them on that level to reveal the bigger picture. Like the individual flakes of a scratch off lottery ticket. This is the heart of knowledge and scientific inquiry.
Sorry dude... but something tells me that Lil' Jon's catch phrase isn't meant to be a philosophical inquiry...
OP, what happens at the most recent part of the equation? The part where you discover the equation's existence. Did you just accidentally cause an infinite loop and/or paradox? [editline]07:12PM[/editline] I used to eat cheese and apple as a kid. It's a strange combo, but it works well. Need to try it with ham some time. Also, another thing I haven't had since I was a kid is banana sandwiches. Did you guys ever eat those? I reckon they'd go down well while high.
Well seeing as time hasn't stopped, OP is wrong. :/
what
what
I think you might be on to something

This thread is blowing my fucking mind I've had wayyy too many philosophical thoughts, but most of them are out of my grasp as of the moment. I've come to the conclusion that every single fuckin thing is a huge chemical reaction. What is this "life" thing? How did it start? well I know how it started. People and little single celled plant things didn't just magically appear out of nowhere. Aaall the different materials, chemicals, etc eventually react with one another, and creates cells, and all the shit in the cells like DNA. This chemical reacton creature is then blasted with hundreds of different variables, and these variables make subtle changes to this thing and allow it to morph into a different organism. For instance, a little plankton is swimming along and he gets some mutaty shit and he is able to split into 2 cells, and so on and so forth. This is happening all around the globe, and different things are made everywhere. This is how some people are black and some people are not. All our thoughts are one big, GIANT, HUGE reaction. But we have a conscious. What the fuck is a conscious? How do we know what we're thinking? What sets us apart from other creatures living for the sole fact of finding food and water so they can live some more? I like to imagine our conscious as a wave. A giant wave, full of millions of thoughts that may or may not be relevant. Our mind has this little "reader" that reads what exactly is going through this wave in a small area, and hence, that is our conscious. Weed has been called a "mind expanding" drug, and that's what it is. This "mind expanding" is allowing our conscious to read more and more thoughts at once and that's how we think of the most random of shit. I wish I could explain it better, but it's very difficult
What sets us apart from other creatures living for the sole fact of finding food and water so they can live some more?
Nothing does. We're just more intelligent, not more alive. [editline]03:11PM[/editline] On this note, if I kill a retarded person will I get the same punishment as someone who killed an equally intelligent entity (ie: ants, dogs)?
Here's a thought, humans don't need to evolve; our technology makes evolution invalid.
It's too bad that alot of our technology is used only for death and destruction...
life blooms after fire :h:
life blooms after fire :h:
I highly doubt it will be us though...
I highly doubt it will be us though...
Of course. We deserve it. We are corrupt people destroying our own home
Here's a thought, humans don't need to evolve; our technology makes evolution invalid.
This is false, you think this is true however because we're in a period of history where technology is growing fast thus resulting in people having a longer lifespan. However, if technology ceases to grow, the natural lifespan (about 30-35 years) will come back because the people who have a weak genetic and the ones who have a strong genetic will equally be able to reproduce thus making the global genetic code weaker by lack of natural selection (almost no one will die before having children). If there's something to worry about it is this genetic weakening that is currently happening (We have proofs of it happening right now. For example, for the first time in the history of modern ages, the estimated lifespan of my generation is lower than the previous generation!) will make us weaker but weaker to a certain point where without technology (let's say a big war happens and we don't have easy health care anymore) every single human will be too weak to survive. It's no surprise they stock sperm in case we would need some of that good ol' genetic. Anyway, this will not happen in our lives but it is easy to understand and maybe your grand-grand-children will see it happening. [editline]11:35PM[/editline] tl;dr : Technology (health care) causes everyone to be able to reproduce thus making weak genetics. Once there will be no more technology, we will die.
I honestly think that the missing link in the theory of evolution to me is hallucinogenics. The thing that stands out to me, that I find unacceptable about the theory is the way a mindless, inanimate object/not self-aware animal made the transition into sentience and self-awareness. I honestly think that this was achieved through the use of hallucinogens. As if our simian ancestors guided our transition into cognizance through the trip. Maybe?
tl;dr : Technology (health care) causes everyone to be able to reproduce thus making weak genetics. Once there will be no more technology, we will die.
yes when there is no more technology the weak will die out and natural selection will be put back into play, making us evolve. how does this disprove my statement.
yes when there is no more technology the weak will die out and natural selection will be put back into play, making us evolve. how does this disprove my statement.
No he's saying we will all be weak because technology will keep us alive and let our retards breed like rabbits
that's already happening. the weak will survive, but are they so weak if they are surviving?
yes when there is no more technology the weak will die out and natural selection will be put back into play, making us evolve. how does this disprove my statement.
Of course there would be no problems if natural selection goes back on, however, in let's say 10 generations, the genetics will already be altered in a dangerous matter and humans minus technology might not compete anymore against bacteria/viruses without the use of antibiotics, antiseptics, etc. Of course, the human race will not be extinct even if that happens and we will still have some people who were aware of this and who would survive by any means. [editline]12:13AM[/editline] [editline]12:14AM[/editline]
that's already happening. the weak will survive, but are they so weak if they are surviving?
Strong + Technology = Healthy Weak + Technology = Alive Weak = ...
yes, technology makes it invalid still then. I seriously doubt one day all technology and knowledge is going to be knocked off the face and minds of the earth, unless some type of crazy disaster happens.
