We wouldn't even be here right now if we didn't want to save people's files. The only data exposed is game data.
That is correct. With all due respect to LethalDrive, the new company we refer to as 'yet to be announced'... is not LethalDrive. Our primary focus this weekend was to rescue data for stranded clients. We will announce the new company as soon as possible. If you've already heard the name of the company before... that is not 'us'. - Omar
Now again I'm having second thoughts about having preordered from LethalDrive so soon... but I will wait and see, either way I hope you guys are successful in your new venture and I thank you wholeheartedly for working to get your former customers (including myself) their data and payments back.
It's this or you can kiss your files goodbye. It was a decision made with thorough ethical decisions.
And probably not easy, but remember that Softlayer was the ones they had to get to agree, they had no business oriented reason to do so as payments had ceased.
And probably not easy, but remember that Softlayer was the ones they had to get to agree, they had no business oriented reason to do so as payments had ceased.
We tried to make things as secure as possible, but not until now were we able to pull panel access back up for folks.
Is there a mailing list we can get on for notice when this new company is available? I went ahead with 3 months at another server but well...this sort of dedication deserves my cash and cookies.
So wait, we ARE getting refunds then? That part was almost word for word what the ClubUptime notice said, which I assumed to have been written by Matt and be complete BS. I've already filed a paypal claim with that in mind. Can you elaborate?
A thread dedicated to the new company would be nice, once you are to that point (also, nice title amc :v:)

Like Ray I only pre-ordered for one month but I'd be very happy to give you guys a shot. Once your up and running. Put me down for beta/stress/whatever testing I can do from New Zealand (lag reports from the bottom of the world perhaps?)
Am i the only one who finds it weird that every gameserver instance is now available to the public for download?!
Am i the only one who finds it weird that every gameserver instance is now available to the public for download?!
No, I find it weird, too. Stuff like this should never happen. This is an emergency situation.
No, I find it weird, too. Stuff like this should never happen. This is an emergency situation.
That was my comment earlier in the thread that you said was "this or you can kiss your files goodbye".
Am i the only one who finds it weird that every gameserver instance is now available to the public for download?!
please refer to amc's post 36
No, I find it weird, too. Stuff like this should never happen. This is an emergency situation.
It's a lesser of two evils sort of situation but in reality there aren't many important files up on anyone's servers, other than their world files and databases, and I'm not so sure anyone who learns of this would take the time to use any of that in a malicious way.
Well thats nice of clubuptime Stuff like this renews my faith in businesses (fuck you to that dick you kicked JWJ out and ruining it all)
to make it clear this now has NOTHING to do with clubuptime or matt. this is the people listed above as well as many community members!! this is all the staff of bh baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a lesser of two evils sort of situation but in reality there aren't many important files up on anyone's servers, other than their world files and databases, and I'm not so sure anyone who learns of this would take the time to use any of that in a malicious way.
Some authorization plugins store passwords in plaintext. That and every server.log is available which contains private conversations or whispers or other things which really shouldn't be available for public download and scraping. "Lesser of two evils" isn't justification for a wrong act.
What kind of ETA would we be looking at for your host to get running? LethalDrive wouldn't be 'right' without the bros that made up Brohoster. I know that about 4000 people are looking for new hosts.
Some authorization plugins store passwords in plaintext. People possibly losing passwords that can easily be changed, is completely legitimate grounds for deleting the servers that people spent hundreds of hours in building and exploring.

Plus it's more fun working your ass off to get everyone's stuff back under pressure. You can't really (have) work(ed) for Brohoster and not been a workaholic. We spend long hours hauling tushy and like it.

thank you guys for all your hard work on this and THANK YOU SOFTLAYER!!!
Your absolutely right. To those responsible for making it possible to recover my data: You ladies/gentlemen are sugar coated, goddamned heros! Round of applause
we will post info for ti i pormise!!
Get some sleep dammit. You've done enough.

They busted their asses to get people their worlds back and you're going to come in here with this? Shut the lovely fuck up and be grateful.
This event is way better than I could have hoped for! I guess it was "Disaster Relief!! If you don't like your stuff being public, back it up and delete it :)
I don't know how many moderators have been watching over all of this, and I don't think there have been any thanks towards them besides Hexxeh for his VPN, so I'd like to extend a personal thanks, and a thanks on behalf of the staff for not bringing down any hammers or locks on our threads so we could help out our clients. Facepunch isn't a support platform. I realize this, but a lot of activity has been made since the first thread, and if we haven't kept these threads alive until now, and beyond this post, we couldn't have provided help to the degree we've wanted to. Thanks mods.
Get some sleep dammit. You've done enough.
sleep?? wtf is that?? we don't sleep we're bros!! lol
