BMW 330xi and Audi a4 were my first choice, but every one I looked at was being sold by a Russian sleezeball, trying to sell me a $1,200 shitbox. And when I finally found a potential 330xi, even though I was buying it, my parents talked me out of it (due to potential high maintenance costs) and said they wouldn't insure it or anything. I also started searching for Subies since they also had AWD sedans, obviously. Since I was searching so hard for AWD sedans that were ideally 10 or years younger, I guess that really meant I should get a 25 year old RWD coupe!
Seriously though, out of all the cars I looked at, it was the one that was in the best condition, so I kinda just said screw it, end the search here and buy.

beeyemdoubleyuus has alwase been the trend.
Now they defently will when all the new ones will be available for less than 6,000$ and have less than 80k on them.
Going to order my first LED headlights for my Fit. In addition to finding a replacement bulb for the interior light since it apparently died.
My first ever project on a car.

The inline 6s aren't just nice, they are fucking nice. Combo that with their manual trans, and you've got one damn robust car. The rest of the system though....especially the cooling system, VANOS, and subframes that occasionally tear. And if you're really nitpicky, shitty window regulators and other small shit. Still amazing cars.
I probably will buy an e46 one day, even if it needs $5-$10k of restoring/refreshing. I just love that gen soo damn much! Although deep down I know I should really save for an M3 or M5.
I'd love to have an old BMW from the 80's
IF i went BMW itd have to be an older one without alot of the electronics and computer crap
E46s arent bad as far as electronics go, I probably wouldn't go any newer though.
Got back from a weekend trip with the Vette- all that open highway at night with the top down and 80's music blasting is truly the experience

I plan to make an aluminum plate filler on the CNC mill, along with new logos for the front and back soon

I'm confused. Is it using oil or leaking oil? Leaking oil is more concerning than if its drinking it at that mileage
Got pulled over for my Takeyari pipes today by the same state trooper that got me last time. This time I told him they were ornamental since they're not hooked up. He sat in his car for 15 minutes trying to find a law against them and then came back with a warning for 'loud exhaust' and said to me..
"I'm not sure if this is legal or not, but I'm going to do some research on this and if I find out it's not legal I'll be sending a ticket in the mail."
:v: What the christ, is that even allowed?? If he can't even figure out if it IS illegal then I doubt it is. But OK.
I took a video of it, though. I'll upload soon.
I'm confused. Is it using oil or leaking oil? Leaking oil is more concerning than if its drinking it at that mileage
leaking. I know it's nearly time to rebuild so I'm going to wait until then to replace all the seals. it's the rear main seal that's leaking which is a total pain in the ass to replace with the engine still in the truck.
Woohoo, video coverage! Enjoy.
Super Fly car video

I could see pinning the problem on obstructing brakelights, but I feel like there's a lot of accessories like bike racks that cover those as well, but i think the law is usually like a tow hitch - where if it's not being used, it can't be on the car at the time. They get people all the time here for tow hitches obstructing the license plate. It actually looks like you can't scoot it over much further before they hit you for obstructing the plate.
Maybe build a removable bracket that used a cotter pin and key to hold them on so you can take it off for your commute or something and stash them in the trunk?
I had a pipe that curled up like that on a car I had, and people told me it was "probably illegal" all the time, and when I got pulled over they would say that, but never got issued a ticket for it. It was the stock exhaust with a clamped on 90* elbow with a bracket to the bumper then about a 10" rise then a 45* off to the side.
But in all honesty I feel like if you're going to fight it, I'd at least reconnect them to the actual exhaust... I mean - why not? Or do you have that 2" past bumper law in your state?
Also Clutch, I love all your fly rides, even though the cops don't.
"Fly or whatever the hell you say" :v:
But yes, they are indeed 'covering' the tail light. I can fit them in between the tail lights and license plate, so that's the next project. They're just bolted onto the frame of the car with 3 bolts right now. Should be easy to whip up a new bracket to move them over 6" or so. That I'm willing to do, because while it's not 'unsafe' I can certainly understand that part of his argument.
WI has a 'no exposed exhaust' law. That's why the old one were indeed illegal, because they were exhaust and were exposed. Same reason side pipes are illegal, too.
I'm hoping this isn't going to become a weird fetish thing for this particular trooper. In the 3 years or so of having the takeyari pipes he's the only one who's given me trouble for them. All in the name of 'keeping people safe'. For the time being they'll probably come off for winter when the winter rims go on, both to keep the heat off and also to keep them in OK condition (stainless is expensive, I'd hate to ruin them with salt.)
I did get pulled over by a Sheriff one night (assuming he was hoping for a drug bust or something) but after I showed him they weren't connected he shrugged and said "ok, have a good one then"
I'm picturing this mook sitting around in his car all afternoon trying to find some part of the law that they break so he can send me a ticket. He already gave me a warning for 'tail light passenger side vision impeded' or whatever, so sending a REAL ticket in the mail for that specific violation wouldn't fly under the 'Double Jeopardy' laws in the US, correct?

It sounds like you need to find a different route. He seems like hes got too much damn time on his hands if he keeps pulling over the same guy over and over.

passed inspection with no faults! yay
I was worried there was some problem I didn't know about but apparently not. Replaced handbrake cables, rear pads&rotors and exhaust before taking it in.

Remind me again why you sold the Subaru?
Pretty sick car/van thing
I dont think double jeapordy applies to the situation since that is for being tried for the same thing twice. A ticket is the start of a trial basically. An "investigation" took place, they found something in violation of the law, tool photos and would present the photos with some kind of dated time stamp to a judge if they have a real hardon for you. Im not sure on the idea of turning a warning into a citation. I believe it may fall under statute of limitations where you have 4 years and one day to try someone for something. I also feel like obstructing a tail light would probably be a fix it ticket no? Where you just pay $10 and show the court clerk that its not a problem anymore.
I feel like this particular cop dude just dislikes it and feels like your trying to skirt around the law at him and its making him frustrated. Maybe offer to buy him a pizza or something and you two can sit down and talk out your differences and maybe come to a mutual understanding.

Red rtv silicone sealant. Or clear packing tape.

So I take it trucks get an exception to this? Even here in Europe they protrude to the side quite a bit, I reckon some big rigs over in the US get some really flashy vertical stacks.
That's a rather bizarre law besides.

What a tool. I'm not half as respectful and polite to cops around here, and I've only gotten one ticket out of 5 times being pulled over, and even then it was just a speeding ticket while he easily could have given me one for swerving out of the lane too.
And to clarify, im not disrespectful to them, I'm more chill and friendly than polite. I don't think I've ever used the word "sir".
I just treat police officers like humans, I don't try to be overly polite. Don't know why anyone expects that to come across as anything but ass kissing when it's obviously not the way you normally talk to people.
clutch2 the entire time I was watching your video I laughed at your tone. Like a "IDGAF" tone.
Eh, since I deal with the public on a daily basis (and stupid public since it's BestBuy) I'm used to shifting into my 'kill them with kindness' tone. Sir just kinda comes naturally at that point. The local cops in my town get called 'man' when I'm talking to them if they stop by to chit chat when I'm out working on cars at home (Hey man, what's new on the beat? etc). But state boys get the customer service routine. If I don't do that I would fly into a rage quick.
Something like.. "You're REALLY pulling me over for two shiny stupid pipes??? What about the people not using their turn signal? Cutting across lanes? Cruising at 85? You think IM the dangerous one?!?! Get a clue!"
So this helps.
Plus like with all the homies getting blasted lately you better damn well believe I'm going to ask permission to go into the glovebox before I get my insurance card. It keeps the cop safe and keeps me from getting a bunch of hot lead in my skull because he thinks I'm about to pull a gun. To open my glovebox you have to open the door because there's a tweeter pod in the way, so once again, asking permission. Like I respect that they have to deal with some scum that might try something funny, so I'd like to do what I can to take the unpredictability out of it if I'm stopped.
Glad you guys got a kick out of it. Also, hope everyone enjoyed that racy anime upskirt for the first little bit :v:

I'm pretty nice until they pull some condescending bullshit or are rude about it. I had one cop pull me over in a school after hours, I was literally driving around getting fresh air after cleaning my car, and when he asked me what I was doing I told him just that, to which he responded "It doesn't look clean at all" like lmao ok dude give me a ticket or fuck off I don't need your commentary.

I used to work customer service at best buy and i was never polite there either.
I wrote out a entire cops are people just doing their job of being noisey and my phone derped.
Befriend a state trooper that likes guns, likes military trucks and has a smoking hot daughter that drives a Chevy.
