An idea I've been toying around with for a while is some kind of nasty-ass mean-looking rat rod with flat black and copper plated bumpers/trim instead of chromed. Now I'm thinking that might work even better with bare metal. I'd want to make it out of something a bit different from the usual chopped and channeled look(which I dislike) and stay away from the traditional deuce coupe and '32 Ford body styles. Something a bit out there, like a Packard or Studebaker.
How hard is it to keep bare metal looking pretty? Is it practical on a daily? I think it'd look dope on any of these 50s cars I'm looking at.
It's hardly practical locked away in a garage, stuff starts rusting up within a week or so depending on your climate. Someone actually did exactly what I had in mind already ;-; [t]http://www.speedhunters.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Speedhunters_Charvonia_SEMA_Studebaker-7.jpg[/t]
Cleaned up the garage today to prep for the new parts coming tomorrow. Vacuumed the floor and everything! Gonna be extremely pissed if my parts are still stranded an hour away from me tomorrow since they haven't moved in 36 hours. I'll have to pray to the UPS gods tonight. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-26%2018.01.26.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-26%2018.09.33.jpg[/t] It's quite nice to be able to walk around my entire car and be able to access tools and cabinets. I always forget before pictures but just imagine parts and shit lining the floor along the back wall/side wall.
Would it be ok to ziptie/cabletie two rubber fuel hoses together losely. Otherwise one rubs on a differential. Or would I be in for a huge catastrophe?
Would it be ok to ziptie/cabletie two rubber fuel hoses together losely. Otherwise one rubs on a differential. And if it does get near anything double it up with bigger peice of fuel line and hope to God it never wears into it.

Thanks guys for the bare metal tips. A low gloss clear coat will probably work if I go that route.
Lerlth, have you pulled the injector for the throttle body and inspected it to make sure it's not constantly dripping??
If it's not raining when I get home I'm going to swap the throttle body off of my known good engine.
Side fed injectors are the devil!! If you ever removed the injector, I'd bet money on the seals being bad. I'd also suggest tossing a new o2 sensor in it and checking the timing. Otherwise, cleaning the MAF sensor and testing your engine coolant temp sensor which your ECU actually uses would be the next two things I'd check. You should also really check them at the ECU side instead of the sensor side since any broken or cracked wires within the harness won't show issues at the sensor.
I don't think any one has messed with the injector, atleast I hope not. I'll check into it like clutch2 suggested. I swapped the engine coolant sensor off of my good block because it wasn't working (checked the resistance) and I need to figure out why the raditor fan wont turn on. I'll look at the o2 sensors also, not sure where they are on this engine, but I'll look into it. I hope the timing isn't fucked up, because I don't want to deal with that. I'm going to swap the ECU maybe, as it takes less than 5 mins to do it. Remove battery and one 10mm bolt.
Thanks guys for the bare metal tips. A low gloss clear coat will probably work if I go that route.
you'll have to do a fucking good job and cover absolutely everywhere, as soon as theres a slight unprotected spot it'll just get under the clear coat and then rip

So, if you had bodywork done at a shop less then two years ago in Washington State and have rust issues due to shoddy work and said shop sold out to service king, what legal options do you have available to you? Service king refuses to honor the warranty at that location and won't provide any contact details for the previous owner. Insurance refuses to help because it was outside of networked shops. I'll probably have to hire a lawyer, but if anyone here knows..
Nice congratulations, Now put a bunch of extra lights on it, raise it, and some decent mud tires on it
I'm Norwegian, of course I need extra lights :v: Seriously though, having 6 hours of daylight and pitch black nights with a million moose going around, I'm gonna put on some extra lights. Not huge bulky ones, but probably LEDs if I can find affordable ones.

So.. now Toyota and Mazda are in bed. News to me. Time for more unimaginative and ugly cars! http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2016-scion-ia-photos-and-info-news
