quad rotor?
For 3k should I just turn my accord into a huge project that I wont be able to manage or just get literally anything else (miata, prelude, etc.)
For 3k should I just turn my accord into a huge project that I wont be able to manage or just get literally anything else (miata, prelude, etc.)
Depends on what you want and how good of condition your Accord is. You can get a F20B to your door with 40k miles for under $1000 and for a little more you could get a H23A bluetop. http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30013 http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30031 All of this would "bolt directly into your CB" without any modification other than finding all the right parts to make it work. I think that if you found a local tuner you should be able to walk in with 3k, get a bluetop motor along with a nice JDM low mile LSD transmission swapped into your car along with a manual conversion. Usually when you start going larger you can get them to cut deals to round numbers too. The less important parts like distributors, ecus, clutches and basic maintenance though adds up very fast. This is the part though that you need to start pricing things out, finding a reputable shop in your area if there even is one and talking to the owner and asking opinions. If you went that route you would have a car with a brand new drivetrain which makes roughly 180-210whp depending on setup that would be just as reliable as any stock vehicle. You won't get that with a $3000 used car. The real question is if you can get a $3000 used car which is better than your current car and if you'd rather do that really.
Shot base and clear on the parts today. The finish was nice.. Absolutely godawful. It was bad because we were looking at it and said "Boy.. that sure looks blue compared to the car." And sure as shit we put em together and they're not even close. You know it's bad when they don't even have to be side by side to tell. In fact, they're SO far off that although the interior pieces look great, they're so blue that those will have to get re-done, too. Now.. here's the question. How is Napa going to reimburse us? $150 worth of clear coat.. $300 worth of base coat. 2 full days of our time. I'm expecting a big "too bad, that's the paint you told us you needed." Problem with THAT is that he also has DuPont touchup paint, and THAT matched perfectly where he filled some rock chips. Come on... touchup paint was a perfect match but this expensive junk isn't?! Time to break out the sandpaper to fix this cock up.
You sure it wouldn't be easier to just repaint the whole car since you have the color? What if the next match turns out a different shade but still wrong?
So there's this nice '73 Celica on craigslist for an okay price. The problem is that it has around a thousand bucks in unpaid parking tickets tied to it. Is there anything that can be done about that aside from knocking said amount off of the selling price?

I don't think it can or should be sold especially in California. The registration will not be able to be transferred if it has unpaid fines. He should pay them, then consider selling the car.

Went and picked up some sweet automotive supplies yesterday. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/2015-08-03%2014.53.46.jpg[/t] I felt like I was buying the wrong tools but by the time I drilled a hole in one, JB Welded a screw into it and jammed it in a drill to go to town on a sludgy intake manifold I was sure they were definitely the right tools. Really wish they were about 6" longer though. I love the dollar store, it's like ruining things from Harbor Freight but they hardly survive one total misuse.
Bay Area Ca? Also Valon, when are you rolling through here? Also, mandatory "I have a Dodge Dart/S" post. Well I'm incredibly late, but I want to attest to the quality of 80's and 90's civics from the whole last page discussion. My first two cars were Civics, a '82 sedan and '87 Hatchback GT. I let them down sadly, not the other way around. Real cheap and reliable cars. I've got a 94 Accord right now I'm trying to get rid of, buut that's because it's a Auto. It's a real smooth, comfy car otherwise, and pulls fantasticly.

Doesnt look faded at all
Holy shit the paint looks good. Doesnt look faded at all
yeah, my phone doesn't quite do the paint justice either, it's RED in real life, not orangeish. paint looks brand new, even though it's original.

I need to know something: Is the Pontiac Aztek hated just because it looks ugly? Or does it drive like shit, or something.
Anyone want a 2jzgte 1973 mercedes project for 3k? :v: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/5140811948.html
Massive shoutout to the previous owner of my Z for putting spacers on for the giant wheels. The spacers have 21mm nuts on them but you can't get a socket around the nut (the opening isn't wide enough for the socket to fit) so that probably explains why when I pulled the wheel off one of the retaining nuts on the spacer shot off with it. God dammit.
Wait if you're flying to La/San Diego how you gonna drive here?
Ahh shit, maybe ill rent a turd and putter on over one day. I gotta give you that $13.50 somehow! On another note I'm pretty certain im grabbing a rust free 72 duster for $9000 today. New tires, new interior, slant 6 auto, just a fun summer cruiser. Everythings been redone on it, all I gotta do is turn the key and go. Of course I do have a built slant 6 sitting in my other car...! [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsja09j1qr.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf4n0ulfp.jpg[/thumb] Original paint car too, we both think the front clip has had a respray of clear or something.
You sure it wouldn't be easier to just repaint the whole car since you have the color? What if the next match turns out a different shade but still wrong?
It is a nice color, lol but this stuff is so expensive we'd have the whole car down for a few weeks doing the paint plus the probably another $1000 in materials alone. Napa sounds like they're gonna work with us. Gonna shoot some test swatches with the next mixture they give us and make 1000% sure it's correct before we waste the time again. Honestly should have done that this time, too... but I've never run into the issue before. Fair enough, lesson learned.

I know its one of the best camping vehicles ever designed. It has radio controls I. The trunk for a trunk tent and other camping gear. The problem with the look is the front and back halves of the car seem to have been done by two different designing teams who clearly didnt speak with eachother. Also seriously considering an srt4 swap, or a honda (a41? I think it is) from a s2000 for my '68. Just something small and turnochargable. I think the honda would be easier as its already a rwd and the shifter for the manual is right on top of the tailshaft. Id just cut the driveshaft, attach, and go... but the new slant is still cheaper than both. I also may just find another cheap mopar to swap one of those into.
I need to know something: Is the Pontiac Aztek hated just because it looks ugly? Or does it drive like shit, or something.
It looks ugly. It's otherwise not too different from other Pontiacs in build quality, reliability, and driving quality (read: mediocre to low). Like the Honda Element, it's great for camping. But unlike the Element, it's hideous, whereas the Element is just a beveled box on wheels.
http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/5154426227.html Might go look at this one since it's relatively close. Talk me out of it! Still keeping my eyes open for other cars though. I guess the P/S leak is a common thing with these so the fix isn't too expensive and there's a ton of info on how to fix it. Could ****maybe*** be a decent buy because the price is right and if there's nothing else wrong other than what's posted. I'm fairly certain I could afford to fix the heater and the AC if I had to take it to the shop for that.

Call up and talk to Steve at HMotorsOnline in Burbank, he's super helpful and will do anything he can to make you a happy customer even if it costs him money in the end. http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30012 Your best bet with the F20C would be going AEM Infinity but pretty much the only tuners worth their shit who know it are local to me. If you plan for doing anything other than going for stock which superchargers are really popular and great with them the stock ECU is basically junk. The stock S2000 has 4.10 gears in the rear as well so you'd want something at least similar. Also be aware that anything S2000 is worth it's weight in gold.
It looks ugly. Okay. I was really hoping to not have to go to New Jersey but Ill definitely look into that one Instead.
