Last night I finished the other light on the Daytona. I also took off the TBI on my known good engine. I noticed that a lot of the vacuum lines on the red (the one I'm currently working on) Daytona are in the wrong spots. So I'll be looking at vacuum hose diagrams for a while... There's 7 vacuum lines and 3-4 electric connectors, and two throttle linkages. FML.

are skyline GTSTs any good? I know theyre not GTRs but would you still say they're good old jap cars? i was thinking of getting one and doing a visual conversion to a GTR (not an engine swap, just a body kit and badges and maybe a better turbo???)
Thank you! would a full engine conversion be possible then? or would it be too hard?
an rb26dett is mostly a drop in replacement, the only thing is you have to get a hold of one.

Thought I might as well post my KA here, its not finished by any means but I'm saving for another car so it will do for now, this is my first car so I've probably done everything wrong lol Anyway: Sorry for the terrible image quality, and yes those are ST badges because I am sad.
So I got my shocks, lcas and all the new parts I'd need. Turns out that despite what Tirerack and Bilstein themselves said, along with every picture and image on the internet. ITR application B8 shocks come with bumpstops! Probably found the cause of the popping and clicking, the dust boot had fused to the metal of the top hat bushing. You can also see the remnants of the bumpstops that are no longer.... Thanks Tirerack! Only assembled and installed the rears so far. These shocks though just absolutely ooze quality in every way possible. Everything is precisely machined and designed. The lower perch is even designed to rotate to prevent spring bind since springs actually rotate when they compress/decompress. Unlike a the OEM design which locks the spring into a rubber insulator and welded metal perch these have a free floating perch which can twist with the spring. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-27%2017.32.58.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-27%2017.34.47.jpg[/t] I meant to take pictures of all the OEM Honda bags but disassembly of the struts without a spring compressor while on the car is stressful. I also got all new OEM hardware for the struts. Stripped out my upper ball joint on the front with a fucking rubber mallet though, progress will be made tomorrow at some point.
So yesterday was spent locating a metric thread file, learning to use it for two hours and finally getting a nut on the balljoint. I highly recommend buying one of these as you never know when you're gonna need it and almost everyone has no idea what a thread file is. I finally got the struts together, got the car on the ground and realized that You need the stock bumpstop plate still. So everything would have to come off again. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-28%2017.07.44.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-28%2017.10.01.jpg[/t] So I'm an idiot and ignored the diagrams on the instructions since there was no instructions really and the diagrams are pretty generic. I pulled them back out of the car, dropped some oem washers back in then cranked them all back together and back into the car in about 2-3 hours. Welp, at least I get a picture of all of them.. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-29%2014.19.33.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-29%2014.19.44.jpg[/t] Nurburgring! Took it out for a test drive finally and god damn was it worth it. Car corners very flat now and combined with all the fresh swaybar hardware which are also the same as an Integra Type-R to match these springs and shocks for an ITR it's just absolutely phenomenal. The car rotates even more in fast corners but it's entirely different now as it almost just feels like the rear is steering with you. It feels far more like it's rotating rather than sliding behind you. However, I've found that it's INCREDIBLY EASY to find understeer in tight corners since the suspension feels so much more predictable and capable. It's very very obvious that the weakest link of my car is now definitely the tires :v: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-10-29%2016.21.05.jpg[/t] Oh and the rear suspension still fucking pops but it's back to the more original less frequent quiet pop which I assume is the swaybar.
Swapped out the ECU, didn't do anything. Hope the fan works now, I'll have to check that. Spray pattern: Rolling... Coal?
Snip
Bad day at work, went and washed the work truck, got bored so I was driving like an asshole, got pulled over doing 120 in a 60 i think, or they said they caught me doing 120 in a 60 and when they pulled me over it was a 80 zone. They were following me for a while and they were going 150 to catch up. If I had taken a turn somewhere I may have lost them, but I had no idea nor intention. So here I am pulled over, knew I was fucked so I just came clean, couldn't find registration (found it shortly and gave it), no drivers license on me since i was just using the work truck for a day. Told them how I usually dont speed (just backroads at home, never in/around a city), and that I wanted to be an RCMP officer which I wasnt thinking of as I was speeding. They were feeling sympathetic I guess and only gave me a failure to produce a drivers lisence ($234) instead of towing the truck and arresting me AND likely losing my license. What a wake up call. Been on this job for 3 weeks now with 3 weeks to go and I guess its getting to me. Possibly going to BC to grab a truck in a few days and this would've shut that all down. ... like, works been good for the most part, just today my best friend got on my nerves. Hes being dangerous on the job, putting his hand in between the auger and the pipe when it can easily chop his fingers off, putting his feet in the track, just being a gungho moron. Its just, stressful as I stand on the job seeing my best friend put himself in danger and not wanting to listen. I've told him numerous times and its one of those things you really dont want someone to find out the hard way.. Last time I said that I shouldnt have to say it again, and today I snapped after I told him again and he blew it off like it wasnt a big deal

Two-strokes have a distinctive smell since their mixture includes oil. That smoke appears to be a little blue to me, I'd be curious to see the results of a compression test. It looks similar to worn rings or valve seals. I've seen very worn out engines with broken rings or scarred cylinder walls produce the same results. Could also be something simple such as the PCV, you could try blocking it off to see if the smoke goes away as a quick test. Your injector spray pattern looks fine to me, it's not dumping fuel nor is it dribbling. Very similar to most high mileage Chevy TBI patterns I've worked on. If that really is just white smoke, I can't imagine where all that coolant is coming from, and at that rate I'd say you'd notice either a dwindling coolant level or extremely black and discolored coolant from a bad head-gasket.

Hey guys, I'm going to look at a '98 BMW 323IS with 123k miles on it tomorrow and I was wondering if there is anything specific I should be looking for tomorrow. I got completely shafted last time I bought a car and I don't want to make the same mistake again.
Didn't you mention that your car smells like a lawnmower previously? Two-strokes have a distinctive smell since their mixture includes oil.
It's hard to tell what color it is, but to me it's a grayish-white. But it smells exactly what my 4-stroke CRAFTSMAN lawnmower smells like when I mow my yard for an hour with the throttle all the way open and the blade on. I do need to do a compression check though. I wish it was a head gasket or something, I really don't want to put new rings on it.

Biggest thing to look for is cooling system service, as the car is just after its second major scheduled maintenance interval; has the water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing been replaced? Also take a look under the car and see if you can locate any leaks (coolant or oil). Chances are the suspension needs a refresh but aside from that they're good cars.

The fact the back just ends where the rear wheels are make it look even weirder.
I think it's adorable. I wouldn't mind having those in America. Probably has the HP of a hamster wheel though.

I dont see what the problem is with the car, I absolutely love the thing and I think its stripes and everything else makes it look better by a long way than stock, all the things I did to it didn't cost loads at all so wouldn't have taken away from a new car fund that much. Its not fast, it's not good in any way but I love it.
Ok so you bought a car like that because you can't maintain a older car, that's fine. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices. But it's 100 times better to drive around a small wife car and just accept that it's a wife car and not make a deal out of it, than to pimp it up with racing stripes, a drift tow hook and a badge. You live in germany though. Should've just bought a cheap bmw, they are like the volvos of scandinavia.
You live in germany though.
