the big problem with the honda element is that it's a civic that weighs an extra half a ton
It might share a parts bin with the RSX/Civic but it shares more with the CRV, I wasn't aware it was that damn heavy though. Always figured with was around 3100-3200 but it actually weighs 3550ish which is more than the CRV at 3400.. Somehow it's smaller and heavier lol, I think that most results like to count the FWD CRV though.
It's really not just 800lbs+ added to a Civic, most Civics are D17/R18 FWD econo slushboxes. You have the K24A4 which makes 160/160 because base model lazy 2.4L and a 5 speed optional with AWD. The interior is "robust" and the B-pillarless doors open away from each other providing full access through the passenger area. Ride height is sufficient for the average person. I always thought it was really neat with the whole seats that remove and can hang from the walls, rubberized flooring and flat folding seats. Do they even make anything remotely like this anymore that has "special features" which are more practical than luxury/upscale/tech bullshit?

It is really just too damn heavy though, building a similarly capable vehicle out of a proper Civic platform or even Fit platform seems like it would have been a far better idea. Which is literally what the HR-V is now.
I'm guessing when it was first devised the 1st gen CRV was selling like crazy, everything was transferring over to the new K series platforms and the R series didn't exist yet with the D17 being far too underpowered for a CRV based fat car. So they just built a car and didn't worry about the weight.
Had the rare honor of parking next to an incredibly rare piece of Mopar history, a 1978 Dodge Colt. The raw primal energy radiating from that sleeping beast nearly bowled me over.
Or maybe it was the smell of the dead squirrel caught in the grille...
don't get me wrong, the element is my favorite crossover bar none. it's just slow as balls. I would buy the hell out of one if I had the cash
I really want a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT vr4 now. I seen one today, the long ass sloped hood, the wing that will rival a 2006 sti. It looks so pretty in person, bright red. I really wish I got a picture, guy seemed really friendly though. I had no idea that they had all wheel steering and there were less then 300 of them imported into the US
I almost bought one that had been rice up with lambo doors and ugly orange paint for $800 not long ago but backed off the deal when I saw it in person and saw how many empty cans of bondo and no other cars were in that shop. god knows what sort of atrocities were under that paint

Little did you know, they had an excess of bondo because none went on the car. :v:
Yea man.. that 3000GT Vr4 is a piece of art. Expensive and horrible to fix and maintain when things break, but when working properly they're sick.
Also one of the few cars that looks weird wearing anything but red.
they had no bondo, just empty cans

I always thought an Element SC with a Type-S head and a CT Engineering supercharger would be pretty neat.

You can import a 91 GTO next year, the non VR4's are dirt cheap in wonderful condition for about what our piece of shit ones are worth.

This is so damn cool, I had no idea that element's did all that shit, I was always under the impression that they were just boxes that went, not like, EMPTY boxes that went. Really want to pick up one of the awd ones and camp out of it, looks like it'd be a blast.
Yeah slayer I saw the motors on that site. Some places want about $6k for em. Id naturally want one with a manual transmission. I have 2.76 gears in the rear. But I may be able to source. 3.23. I like honda stuff, and im familliar with it. Ive had a 2002 crv, 1995 accord ex with jdm swap, and 1998 civic ex with chrome/msd/ skunk2 intake. Skunk2 cam gear, megan ebay headers and a bunch of other stuff that came with it when I bought it. Id prefer a k20 or k24. It makes me wish I kept the old cr-v around after the ex destroyed it. It had a nice k-24 with only about 120k miles on it...

They also had water-resistant material so you could just clean off the floors (and seats too IIRC) with a hose.

I prefer the wheels on the base model, the SC is a little too tokyo drift for me

They said that but the members on the e.o.c. stated that that was catastrophic to those that tried
Theres a lot of electronics and stuff that get wet in the process. And then the seats mildew. But it does fit a queen size inflatable bed with the jump seats up.

The F20C/K series motors are pretty similar, InlinePro jams a K24 crank into a F20C block and makes a stroker 2.4L out of it. The only big thing different about the F20C is that it's sort of "old tech" with less VCT angles. I don't see any commercially available ways to mount a K series to a RWD trans other than KMiata currently so trying to work a K series in seems to not be worth it budget wise. You'd definitely want shorter than 3.23's lol, most people think the 4.10's are too long on them for anything but strictly daily use. I don't think you could even drive it normally with 2.76's lol, you could literally do like 350mph in 6th.
They also had water-resistant material so you could just clean off the floors (and seats too IIRC) with a hose.
I thought that too but that's a misconception from the original concept car that was built with drains, it ended up being far too expensive to create a proper floor that could be rinsed out. Doesn't mean you couldn't bring out a mop or something silly in there.
Reminds me of the tent for the 2nd gen Xterra (similar to the '05 Off-Road edition with a 6-speed that I almost bought but was nabbed from under me)

I thought AWD was standard put apparently it seems like FWD was an option and seemed to be standard on SC models..
I prefer the wheels on the base model, the SC is a little too tokyo drift for me
Oh, hmm seems like there was a facelift of the SC. I've only seen the 07 model which I liked aside from the headlights. I'd put like HFP wheels on it anyways or something.
can you just go get a job in marketing at Honda already
Serj do a 2.0L EcoBoost. At least keep it American puhleeze.

But that's a Pilot. :v:
You can tell because the trunk is competing with 1990s Ford for "best plastic trim"
So I've been talking to the owner and I got some more pictures of the Corolla's interior. It's pretty ok. The carpet was removed and it has seats from a 1985 gts. All the door cards and panels are in the back seat and the dash cap is missing.
Yum, free twix bar.

The engine bay looks pretty much original, but what's the deal with that large hose that doesn't seem to be connected to anything? Right there between the distributor and the carb.

It all seems affordable. An ebay plastic dash cap runs $70 a new cat is about a hundo, and a custom fit carpet kit is about $150. (Btw, anyone ever buy anything from stockinteriors.com?)
[sp]If anyone wants to claim it, it's smack in the middle of Huntington Park, Watts, Compton, and Inglewood on Compton Ave. and Century Blvd. Good luck. :v: I still need to think about it.[/sp]

Well it's sold as an accessory for the element, I thought it looked like a Pilot but I just ripped the image lol.
Does anyone here know why a temperature gauge will spike before the thermostat will have time to open?
I swear my gauge goes up to 210*F and goes back down to were it sits at the 160*F mark were the thermostat SHOULD be opening up fully at. And its only in the mornings when I first get in the truck....
Im almost tempted to put this gates racing thermostat in it and see if it will open faster or be more responsive at opening up quicker....
Are you sure it's a 160* thermostat? That sounds kinda low anyway, though I only drive two identical cooling system jeeps.

Don't forget the rear facing rumble seats that come out of the trunk floor!
Picked up that duster!! Its so quiet I cant tell if its on sometimes!!

That hose likely went to the old air cleaner and is some kind of oil vapor recycler. I doubt that Weber 38/38 is the stock carburetor. It likely had some small 1bbl or 2bbl carb with a big air cleaner that had a port for that hose.
Just buy the damn Corolla already, it's exactly what you want. The 2TC is super reliable and is basically the passenger car 22R. The worst you could do is buy it, drive it around for a little and clean it up then flip it. You won't lose money on it and any money you put into it like carpet and maintenance will pretty much be earned back in resale. Show up with $2500 and drive it away dammit. You aren't going to find better classics which you could DD like a 15 year old car all the time.
