Fuckin hell is there any point buying a car that you can do up at 17/18 years old because insurance is mad or do you think a classic car would still be OK to insure? Got to have that fucking black box put in my car when I've passed Are there any cheap jap cars that are good for modding I'm talking really cheap though like around £1000
classic car insurance is usually age restricted to 25 don't go with telematics, you will get fucked over, it's a guarantee, you just have to bite the bullet and pay an assload for insurance

how much is your privacy worth?
Dano I don't think I can afford not to really and if it means I have to drive sensibly for a year but its saving me 700 quid surely its worth it?
Did I just hear the argument for not having insurance being that you cant afford 700 quid a year? Insurance isnt really for you, its for others.
Did I just hear the argument for not having insurance being that you cant afford 700 quid a year?
no you didnt
Its just for future reference. I'm picking it up in a week and a half and it was just something I was thinking about. Probably not even going to install one for a few months anyways.
Lol the radio in those cars sucks regardless, I'd need one in like.. first day. You get to run wires into the trunk on that setup, but it's not every difficult (similar to an amp install, routing-wise)
I wish I couldn't afford €700 a year for insurance. My $1,700 a year is way too cheap. -_- Can I be 25 yet, please?
did I miss anything
did I miss anything
Nope. All is well continue on citizen. I stopped working for the steel guy, and started somewere else. I got a company truk. Silverado Texas Edition :>
Is Texas Edition like King Ranch for Fords?
cant afford 700 quid a year?
Lol, some people are more illiterate than a 17 year old I found a policy which might not need a black box that's cheaper than the others with one! Its still about £2000 though
I heard on those Texas Edition Silverados they removed the blinker stalk entirely because they knew the drivers wouldn't use them. BMW is considering following that idea to save weight, making it easier to set the cruise to 90 on the freeway, and using the forward facing radar to trigger the horn to remove obstructing traffic.
Here's some pics of the cheap ass parts I bought, both of these upper control arms have garbage pivot mounts and the bushings are of a non-OEM style which uses almost no rubber which means they last forever. Cheap shit came apart and bent when I removed it from the arm since it came pre-bent from factory preventing it from sliding through the shock tower. A 4 year old could have easily bent it into this shape, plastic would have probably been a better material :v: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-13%2015.22.53.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-13%2016.03.50.jpg[/t] Here's an OEM mount of which I can bounce myself on without bending and both my "right" and "left" arms. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-13%2016.04.27.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-13%2017.17.43.jpg[/t] Got one side mostly assembled, all nice fresh new parts. Everything from the radius rod bushings to the swaybar hardware are recent or brand new. Just gotta wait for the new left UCA and toss everything back in. Here's my new hubs, bearings and ball joints. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-16%2023.56.10.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-11-16%2023.57.09.jpg[/t] I should also be getting my new camera lens cover soon, if the camera module wasn't most likely super fragile I'd just tear the lens cover out of this lol. Hopefully no more garbage pictures from a now mediocre but perfectly capable phone.
Lol, some people are more illiterate than a 17 year old I found a policy which might not need a black box that's cheaper than the others with one! Its still about though
Not everywhere have black box policies, as far as I know the UK is the only country that does. Also, I feel sorry for you man, I'm paying £605/year for my 2.0turbo at 19y/o.

None at all, it's actually gone up from ~£500 because I've had to add mileage to my insurance (25 000 kms now)
None at all, it's actually gone up from ~£500 because I've had to add mileage to my insurance (25 000 kms now)
Ahh that makes sense. Its supposed to go down quite a lot when I add up the years of experience but until then it's stupid high
Is Texas Edition like King Ranch for Fords?
Kinda... But Texas edition is basicly exterior stuff. Hell this truck still has cloth. But I do have to say it does have the 6.0 LS based motor and trailer towing package with a onboard oem brake controller. Best thing ever.
So yesterday I almost got one more strut done. Had a housewarming party to go to and I was rushing and put the tophat on the wrong way :v: Tomorrow I'll finish it all up and bring it to the alignment place friday night. [editline]17th November 2015[/editline] Also might have a potential buyer for the Mitsubishi tomorrow night! Hopefully they buy it.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for a four cylinder exhaust? Something throaty and pretty quiet from 1K-2.5K RPM? Just wondering. Thanks.
I like a flowmaster 60 for a 4 cylinder
So... I was gonna change the windshield on a w210 but found a huge rust hole. [t]http://puu.sh/loZ60.jpg[/t] So I made this bit: [t]http://puu.sh/loZ6B.jpg[/t] And fix'd [t]http://puu.sh/loZ8m.jpg[/t] And that's my everyday routines at my workplace I guess.
im still confused on how you get those shapes right, after hammering and beating stuff into shape on my 86 for so long.. [editline]17th November 2015[/editline] but i guess yours arent really 100% perfect either.
I have fender rust holes where two of my fender panels meet. I don't have a welder :c
That's what bodyfiller is for. The biggest thing is getting the gapping right on the filler plate so that the welder isn't blowing through it trying to bridge a huge gap. Once it's welded in nice and ground down a coat or two of filler will make it like the repair never even happened! (@ psygo) Nice work Ldesu. Rust is the bane of all mankind. How did it go.. "That's a big rust hole." "For you." "If salt destroyed the rocker panels, would the truck die?" "It would be extremely time consuming." Fixin rust without a welder is pretty much an impossibility. Everyone talk about fiberglassing or so ish overtop of it and that's just wishful thinking. About the only 'decent' non welded repair I've seen was a little hole in my wheel well that was start, chopped it out to clean metal, sprayed shit all over inside the frame rail, then stuck a new piece of metal over it with seam sealer. When all was said and done the wheel well got bedliner'd. "Good enough" :v:
I wanna get an old VW Beetle, but all the people in my area are selling rust buckets that don't run for like $8k
I actually wouldn't mind learning to weld. But I will be woefully unemployed in January (my contract expires), is there a relatively cheap way to get into it? Call me crazy, but I hear running good wire with those Harbor freight welders works for stupid simple shit like I need it for?
im still confused on how you get those shapes right, after hammering and beating stuff into shape on my 86 for so long.. [editline]17th November 2015[/editline] but i guess yours arent really 100% perfect either.
They aren't perfect. That black piece started off as a cutoff from a new body panel for an Opel that I flattened and then later cut into size and shaped. I take simple measurements so I don't go too far off on the shaping though. For pieces that don't really matter, like that one which is underneath the windshield and dashboard, I make the pieces myself, but for more important pieces we (the company) obviously buy panels made for the specific car. A few weeks ago I made about half the spare wheel well on a BMW E36 convertible. Since that too is a place where you don't really see, making the panel myself was good enough.
Lol, some people are more illiterate than a 17 year old I found a policy which might not need a black box that's cheaper than the others with one! Its still about £2000 though
You want to buy a vehicle. Buy a vehicle. You are complaining about insurance for a new driver (if you pass) in the UK. Time and age are against you for getting any type of good rate. You either bite the bullet and pay the mad insurance, buy a vehicle and drive with no insurance, or dont buy a vehicle and save your fucking money because you're 18. I suggest sucking it up and deal with it.
I wanna get an old VW Beetle, but all the people in my area are selling rust buckets that don't run for like $8k
Well hello there Let me tempt you with mine: [t]http://puu.sh/llGa2.jpg[/t] [editline]totally edited in later[/editline] Shit, wrong pic. Here: [t]http://puu.sh/gCLp8.jpg[/t] [sp]They are both actually mine[/sp]
