Just picked up this 1986 MR2! Needs a bit of work since the PO caught the engine harness on fire over by the alternator and the brake master is rusty af. Not a big deal though, I'm planning on prepping it through this next semester for HPDE with NASA so I can move on to Time Trial by 2017. Congratulations on the buy. Don't forget to let us know when you do cool stuff to it.

I bought it with a few issues, the alternator caught fire and melted part of the engine harness so I need to find a new one, the master cylinder works but looks awful so I don't really trust that either. I'm hoping to have it streetable by February and at least have decent tires by March. I'll be sure to frequent this thread more often.
All I want in life is to build a rally car based on an old european compact like an alfetta or a saab 96 for under $2000 including the cost of the car

I drive a '93 Miata that I very well could toss a roll bar and some track pads onto—and it's awfully tempting—but I know what motorsport exposes a car to and I don't wish that upon the old Miata. It's a little too clean and shall remain a DD. I would however would love to get another Miata or some other good platform and build up a tidy little track car.

Now I gotta you know.... make more money to fund this somehow.
Hey guys, for my public speaking class I did an informative speech on alternative fuels, and now am working on a persuasive one on the same topic. I specifically talked about E-Benzin/E-Gasoline and E-Diesel/"Blue Crude", and also included a smaller bit on Hydrogen [fuel cell] cars, although I didn't get in to as much detail with those. I already know to highlight the reduced/zero emissions aspect, and that the fuels would not be finite like oil. I would love to strike some comparisons against electric cars, and maybe even play a video of a LMP1 or F1 car to make an enthusiasts point as to why the hell would you wanna let the combustion engine die. But I also need some solid points as to why these synthetic fuels would work for us consumers and I'm kinda blanking. They are such new developments that I'm having some issues with comparing them to other alternatives. Again, I'd really like to strike some blows to electrics, but I guess just shooting down conventional fossil fuel will do, as it will bring purpose to the speech. I risk making the audience want to not continue using combustion engines or gas though :v:. Speech only needs to be 10mins, so I don't need to go on and on. My informative went pretty well, and all I really talked about in detail was the basic premise of E-fuels, and the basics of how they were made. Can anybody share some sources on this topic?
Same! Planning on doing autocross and trackdays galore when the warm weather rolls around again.
Yes yes yes! New Project Binky episode just came out! The way they rebuilt the shifter linkage was amazing.
Good thought. I figured valve and the store were similar entities as it allows you to log on using a steam account ID. I just got off the phone with paypal so they could work with my bank to give me my money back. Still irritating. I was kinda hoping they were in the U.S. so I could sick the cops on them.
Its most likely a Fake adress as Google maps puts it as some random intersection in Lithuania most likely Someone out of China or Russia,or some script kiddie out of the US. [editline]5th December 2015[/editline] I think the end result of the engine I am rebuilding wil to transplant it into something later down the road Charger,Barracuda or a Dodge Lancer. In the meantime why waste a perfectly good chassis?
It's on the ebay receipt for paypal, which he somehow confirmed the adress for using my account. Likely he has ordered stuff before using my shit. I was pretty sure they only confirm it if they shipped at least one thing to your house before, or if the billing adress on the card matches. The problem for the adress is I actually found out what they did order through the receipts. The $120.00 charge was for a SINGLE item in CSGO, a STAT TRAK (used) butterfly knife. $39.99 was spent on a Chinese gaming mouse, which I assume they would want shipped to them so they can actually have it, which is where I procured the adress. $89.99 was spent on gold for the game, I don't play CS, but I'm assuming that is the cash currency for skipping getting in game curency. The rest were various $80 or $90 charges all through the same website. I have a feeling I'll get my money back, at least from the bank, and then they'll seek restitution from whoever used it. I'm just kind of glad I caught it before it set my account in the negative or something. It does set my engine build way back now...

I accidentally money pit: [t]http://i.imgur.com/H3wpj6j.jpg[/t] [editline]6th December 2015[/editline] I bought it for $130, all I know about it is it's 15-17', it's got a Mariner/Mercury engine with an unknown amount of horsepower that doesn't start. The starter clicks and nothing happens. Propeller is broken. PO said it floated good last time he saw it on water.

Anyway, if anyone happens to come across a Mercedes heavy duty truck (not an Unimog) in the USA or Canada that is over 25 years old, let me know.

I hope you like tearing engines apart because theres a long list of things to test if that outboard isnt running.
Took some shots of my friends Terminator swapped Bullit today. Trying to get some supplemental income by shooting cars in my area. Maybe I can make enough money to pay for some of these MR2 parts haha. Anyone here have a know-how of car stereos? I want to have a set of subs to make EDM sound good, I know that I need speakers, a simple enclosure box, a control box and common sense wiring skills so my car won't catch fire. Any brands to look to first?
What's the budget and the car?
What's the budget and the car?
'07 Fit. is 100-150$ a good investment? Fit is temporary so I plan on keeping this set of speakers for the long-term.
$100-$150 is pretty low. This is about the cheapest system you can get 'brand new' on the market these days that isn't built with piece of shit Boss/Pyle/Lanzar/PlanetAudio/etc equipment. 300w Kicker amp; http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2062CX3001/Kicker-12CX300-1.html?tp=35834 300w Kicker sub; http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_64233_Kicker-40CWS122-CompS122.html 12" ported box; http://www.amazon.com/Power-Single-12-Inch-Vented-Unloaded/dp/B00BIFWHN4/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1449463964&sr=1-13&keywords=12+sub+box Or this MTX package; http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003E35XGQ/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new Wiring kit for either one; http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-09DCK8-Amplifier-2-Channel-Interconnects/dp/B001RNNY9S/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1449463883&sr=1-2&keywords=kicker+amp+kit Both options are pretty solid for the price, just depends on how much trunk you'd like to give up. Similar output from both.
I see, I'll be browsing a bit more before I go on making my final choice, but these give me a solid reference point to go on. Thanks.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/W6NOa4S.jpg[/t] yay gauges! installed them myself, my first ever electrical work and it went pretty smoothly. fishing/feeding wires through dashboards is a pain though. thank god for coat hangers and add-a-circuit
Ohh yours is the k5 blazer one? Cool. Do thoes have the winch plate built in? Does it still have the blackout light still on it?
Mines from a CUCV pickup. No winch plate. The seller wanted much more with blackout lights, they're hard to get from what I hear. I opted to mount the guard itself to my OEM chrome bumper, and eventually paint the guard. There are many options offered for these bumpers from the military. Antenna mounts, cold weather blankets, etcetera. It's about the best you can get for an 81-87(91) rig, without spending big bucks.
