are you sure your mum just cant drive stick well i mean its easy to blame bmw
Nah, it seems to be common knowledge among mini owners on the internet that the 2011 countryman clutch fails around 50k miles. This one has survived until 90k, and didnt melt or grenade or split in half like some of them do, its just worn out. I guess its something about how the countryman is the largest mini and awd but they used the same clutch as the lighter 2wd ones. They gave the 2012 a meatier clutch and changed the throttle control to "fix" the issue, but theres still no good option for the 2011.

Was tons of fun blasting past priuses and tahoes driving on bare asphalt with chains on. Wheels are definitely bent and it sucked to go 60, let alone the 85 I got it upto once in some passing lanes. Snow level dropped to 1300ft so there was a good bit of snow up at 5000ft on the pass but there was only a good 8 miles of snow or so where it was actually packed to the road. These pictures were around 3900ft so the snow wasn't more than a couple inches. Gonna just list the wheels/tires up on craigslist or something, they disappointed me immensely.
Okay these snowy car pics are greatly enhanced by the Facepunch snow thing
gah fuck. My moms 2011 mini countryman started slipping the clutch. fuckin bee ehm dubbers
eeeh my 2000 3 series has 183k, first clutch still. Started slipping the other day but still has life left and I beat the shit out of this car.
If my Miata's shocks feel perfectly fine and the car has 108k, does that mean a PO replaced them? Had the car since 63k.
Okay these snowy car pics are greatly enhanced by the Facepunch snow thing
Especially since it's fucking 70° in VA. Where's da snow?!?!
Try and find the goodyears used so you can buy them almost new for half or at best well under retail price.
I tried, I needed them this weekend. And I need to have 100% trust in them to get me back and forth to dallas with very expensive loads of tile and flooring.
235/75/15's will get better fuel economy, though isn't that a very small tire? My truck calls for 235/85/16, I'm running 265/75/16.
I knew the 31's would give worse economy, no one ever uses the "called for" size unless you live in a nanny state. Dark thirty o clock photo. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Owned%20Vehicles/92%20Chevy%201500/IMAG1201.jpg[/t] Damage done = 672$ But peace in my mind knowing that I don't have bald tires now.
If my Miata's shocks feel perfectly fine and the car has 108k, does that mean a PO replaced them? Had the car since 63k.
Mine has 94k, shocks where never replaced and it still feels perfectly smooth.
Mine has 94k, shocks where never replaced and it still feels perfectly smooth.
I'm at 141k and mine still feel alright.
Wow okay, I guess I didn't know how long to expect them to hold up. Luckily I like the stock suspension. Ride height is a little ugly but that's not that important
Ready for the road! Needs an alignment and a muffler. Then it's ready to go! It turns on so easy. Half-second crank and it's ready to go.
Shocks can be functional for a very very long time but the crisp response and fine/instant dampening which you really want, expect and rely on really starts to go away after about 75k miles. If your Miatas have Bilstiens I absolutely recommend you to send them to Bilstien and get them revalved and rebuilt. I'm absolutely in love with mine, a really nicely setup stiff shock makes so much of an insane difference that a spring alone could never do. I have a set of shocks from a JDM Integra Type-R that probably had 40k miles on it before I put about 10k on them. While they felt different when I first got them the polyurethane bumpstops completely disintegrated and the overall strength of the shock was greatly weakened. They "test" perfectly fine and don't have any leaks or anything like that but they just don't react and respond anything like a new shock.
[thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpstvjush7x.jpeg[/thumb] Jumpin' on the winter rig pic. This truck really doesn't have a good side or angle, definately have to dump some work into it.
jesus, snow fucking destroys vehicles.
My blazer has been through 15+1 Minnesotan winters and it doesnt look anything like that. What the fuck man that truck has seen better days [editline]14th December 2015[/editline] but its also not a work vehicle
Any rust protection done on that truck? Oily undercoat, undercarriage wear-layer, anything? [editline]edit[/editline] Haha what, it's relevant! I want to hear if that stuff is actually effective or not in those cold American winters.
Snow here just destroys your paint and windshields. My entire front end looks like this but way way worse to the point that the bottom half of my front bumper is road rashed to white lol. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-01-31%2017.53.10.jpg[/t] Usually driving in the snow makes your car look like this because we don't salt roads here. Crazy to think I took these pictures 50k miles ago. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/IMG_20110306_140648.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/IMG_20110306_140813.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/IMG_20110306_141252.jpg[/t]
jesus, snow fucking destroys vehicles.
There's something special about North American winter, my car is almost 15 years old, 14 of those in a city where they salt the roads, and it looks nothing like that truck. Sure, the exhaust is rusting off and there is some bubbling around the wheel arch if you look closely
What type of Windshield washer fluid do you guys recommend for winter? I have tried RainX all season, but that shit smears my window. Car is a BMW if that matters at all.
I just mix water to equal parts windex and rubbing alcohol at 8:1
I wish car ownership wasn't so damn expensive here, otherwise I would have bought a truck and converted it to a service wagon/camper for racing :v:
So I know I just bought an MR2 but now it looks like I might be trading it for a 4AGZE powered AE86... good trade right? All joking aside, I know it needs a lot of love but the engine runs smooth and it seems like the swap was done reasonably well. Besides being primered there really isn't any body damage or rust, main issue for me is the lack of door handles and the ricey hood that looks like ass (maybe it'll look better when it's painted?). I figure this is the better project than the MR2 for me mostly because I think this car needs the love more and tearing apart a mint MR2 interior for race car reasons isn't going to feel good.

What do you guys think of the exhaust tone?
It sounds pretty tame. A little raspy, but it's not a fart can. Not throaty either.
Tried seeing if the wheel would just fit on [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LPygjJyh.jpg[/thumb] So godamn close They lookin fly too [editline]14th December 2015[/editline] Ignore the thing holding my car up
Small update on my boat: Interior is worse than I first thought, rear bench/hatch is rotten, same with the passenger seat (only thing holding it on is the fabric which is for some reason stuck to the seat frame), driver seat is 50/50 fabric and duct tape. As for the engine, it's an Evinrude from 1980, 25hp, two cylinder two-stroke. Steering came off when we dropped it off (probably), needs a new shifter(?) cable. Starter doesn't kick in, like the seller says, but there's no click from the solenoid either (unlike what he said), starter moves freely mechanically. Electric choke works fine. If I wasn't this damn sick, I'd be out there troubleshooting some more, but right now keeping my eyes open is a job in and of itself.
Worked some more on it today, got all the water out, it's dry as I can get it without lighting it on fire. Turns out the solenoid isn't bad after all. Since the shift cable is broken, I decided to play around with the mechanism on the motor, turns out it was in forward. So I hooked up the battery, put it in neutral and turned the key. It cranked just fine. Guess the P.O just didn't notice the broken shifter cable and thought the starter was broken.
If any windshield washer fluid just smears you might have to change your wipers.
RainX smears on just about every vehicle, annoying as hell and hard to get off. I used to just buy the cheapest brand I could, but some of them are now trying to copy RainX and are smearing as well.

What brand do you use? (I don't wanna make my own mix of alcohol and Windex, i just wanna buy a bottle)
