I did this yesterday. It may look like I know what I'm doing, but I don't. I guarantee it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/gaOa2i7.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/mTNx4Qs.jpg[/t] I was about to install the passenger side speaker but decided to check the connection first. They're shorted! Yay! Now I have to run two cables through the door some how! Also, the white wire connected to the black one is the new ground, the ground in the loom wasn't working, so I grounded it to a screw under the dash. Works great.
Ohhhhhman look what I found 15 mins away http://sd.craigslist.org/rvs/5345408536.html [editline]21st December 2015[/editline]
oh my god. That would be PERFECT for a flatbed racecar towtruck. Kinda like this. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Found%20Vehicles/DODGE%20THIS/img_0057.jpg[/t] Only issue would be driveshaft length.

Well, it was fun, but I traded in my mustang today for a 2015 F150 Lariat FX4 with the 3.5L Ecoboost. You can tell when that turbo kicks in.....
Anyone here done a LeMons? I'm really thinking about doing one and there's one in February not too far away in Alabama so I think I'll go just to watch.

Can make the bed as long as you want.
There's a 05 cvpi for sale in my apt complex for $1500. Called the guy today while I was at work, he doesn't use the car because he has a company car. It has 190k miles, he bought it 5 years ago with 130k. Gonna talk to him in person on Thursday. [editline]21st December 2015[/editline] I've peeked in the windows and it looks like its in great shape.
Now I have to run two cables through the door some how!
Use a couple extra crimpers to connect to the damaged wires, then pull those through the door from the speaker mount. Cut off the new wire at the connector, and attach at either end.
This is very cool
I love that colorscheme

Has two binders worth of full service history, the whole thing is spotless and for the price it was a steal. Utter bliss to drive too, i'm super happy with this thing, super rare color, probably the only one left. The XK6 under the hood is fantastic as well, i can see why it went without replacement as long as it did. Old guy i got it from is super nice, gave me all sorts of shit, shop manuals, car cover, spare parts bin, spare steering wheel, tool kit, two jacks, spare rim and hubcap and loads of other shit for no charge, and gave a lasting invite for coffee now and again. So happy i did this

How is it a van if it's a flatbed?

The plastic intake manifolds can occasionally crack and spill coolant into the plug wells. The steel driveshafts can hit harmonic shit and explode around 140, if you feel like going that fast (you wont with the limiter on anyway). Ask if the owner knows what gears are in the rear end, that decides how speedy or curuisey the car is. Also ask if it has a trac-lok. Of course if he doesnt know, you can stand on the gas and see if both tires spin. Trac-loks make good donut cars. Then just see if he knows the history of the car (ex-police or ex-taxi). Police ones usually arent that bad, but old taxis can be in bad shape sometimes. Retired private security, detective, or city official cars are usually mint.
that looks like ex police. too new for a taxi (they keep their cars until they blow) and detective and city official cars usually come in civilian colors, at least around here. private sec never gets 130k on the clock either, unless he bought it from a previous private owner

You can just look at the door sticker (driver's side door, where it meets the body) to get the differential info. All PI cars have aluminum driveshafts, only civilian cars have steel ones, and you can't retrofit a steel driveshaft to a CVPI so it's not even a concern. Del91, make sure you see it get up to highway speed and make sure the overdrive is working. One of the most common points of failures for the 4R7xW transmission is the overdrive. Also try to let him give it a good launch from a standstill and check if the transmission has any hangups under hard acceleration. Other than that, if the CEL is on try a cheapo OBDII reader, most codes are self explanatory and for emissions related garbage that isn't critical, unless you live in commiefornia. The plastic intake manifold is only on somewhat earlier models, you should be safe with any 2003+ engine. My old roommate had a Mirage that I drove for like 3 months on my commute and I didn't want to drop any money on his stereo... worst $40 I ever spent. That thing can't power a pair of computer speakers, let alone 4 car speakers. Total garbage.
Friend bought it, as he will be driving it. Lol. I know, I would have atleast dropped $150 on a good head unit.
I'm pretty sure its a detective unit. Front bench and all.
My insurance adjuster just called me, says about $2500 damage on the car. Replacing the bumper cover (3rd time), fender (2nd time) and headlight (5th time). They'll repaint the hood and the driver door. LA drivers may be assholes, but they are extremely proficient. Here in Denver, you'll see drivers just freeze up and do nothing when a cop or fire engine or ambulance comes up behind them with lights and sirens, while the drivers in this video all calmly pull to the side and let the cops by with plenty of room.
