Does anyone make a double DIN touchscreen with video in and USB connection for carputers? That's what I really want.
There's a few if you check out a few carpc sites. CarTFT has some great monitors and sells some of the bare monitors with touch layers if you want to fab your own mount. I wanted to keep a single din stereo in the car, so for mine I threw a 7" CarTFT screen on a RAM mount attached to a bracket I made to go above the single DIN stereo. In my car, the stereo pocket is pretty low, so having it on the mount keeps my eyes closer to the road and minimises the distance my hands have to travel if I want to interact with the touch screen.
Nope. That's made on order for jula, I wouldn't touch it at all. Go to mekonomen or torshov or somewhere that displays the players while wired up to a proper amp.
I literally can't afford anything better so that's the one I'm gonna have either way.
Buy a single din or a second hand unit then, no need to waste your money on that crap.
I literally can't afford anything better so that's the one I'm gonna have either way.
Buy their single din pioneer unit with bluetooth and that jazz, it costs the same but is a 1 din so it's actually half decent. This applies to almost anything, it's better to buy the good quality "cheap" option than the low quality "expensive" option if they cost the same. Just imagine what crap they cheaped out on to make the double din player worth the same as a single din.
Let's step back and take a look at that headunit you're pushing. First off, it's a Dual product, so the build quality is lower than other ones on the market, which amount to about the $10 or $20 you see in the difference between that and say.. a JVC KDR-660 which is same feature set, little more money.
I had a cheap Dual radio in my old Ford. Decent when it worked, but about every ~6 weeks something would fuck up inside the unit, completely killing it until I pulled the radio out and took the power wire out and then plugged it back in. Pain in the ass. I went with a midrange double-DIN Pioneer unit in my Toyota, love it. The ~fancy~ lights are a bit too bright for my taste (I keep to a dark green with the nigh-useless 'Dimmer' setting on) but everything is laid out in a way that is easy to use, and it has a bunch of input methods and Bluetooth. Avoided the touchscreen models because they're more expensive and I hate touchscreens. Haven't had a single problem with it in two years. [editline]24th December 2015[/editline] Though to be honest I only bought the Pioneer because the tape deck in the factory unit died. I used one of those tape deck-to-3.5mm things to play music from my Zune (yes), but then the tape deck started to malfunction. Couldn't stand radio ads and CDs are annoying to store and swap.
Not sure if I post about this, but about a week and a half ago my roomies gf was driving his car to go take one of his coworkers to work, she gets about 3 blocks from the girls house and then the worst happens... The maxima throws a rod threw the block. Nice sized hole and has taken the dipstick hostage (it's stuck, i assume via broke rod). Rewind to about the time I got a call because "The car just shut off, I don't know what happened, all the engine lights just came on..." "Well what happened? Did it just shut off or did it sputter?" "I was driving and then all the lights came on and I lost power steering and I don't know whats going on, it might be the alternator I don't know." "Fine I'll be there in a minute, don't try and start the car." Had to get it towed and I footed the bill, thanks fuckers. Well, It seems my heavy warning went unnoticed as a few months back, which I posted about, the car was drove into water and it stalled or at least went to. Now I thought this was gonna happen, and warned of it, so why should I be surprised the engine blew? I'm not, and here we are, me loaning my car to the car destroyers while I have to wait on one of them to get the money together so I can do an engine swap and get my fucking car back. Engine is 350 bux at a nearby salvage yard with a $150 core then I just need the tools, time and a hoist.
Looked at the car in the daylight and it doesn't have a front bench lol Dunno why I thought it did. In my defense though the windows are tinted and super dark. Currently waiting on the guy to show up. [editline]24th December 2015[/editline] Nevermind he's at work. Guess I'm looking at it Saturday. e.e
hey what's your opinion on the 9.25 inch rear end from dodge trucks for a budget street/strip machine?
What're you putting it in? They're largely available and have a good amount of factory gear choices but I don't think parts are all too common on them. They should be able to happily hold up to 600hp. The mopar 8 3/4 would be ideal, but they are expensive and aside from having a removable third member hold only another 100hp I'd think. Dana 60 would be my other choice for a budget build, lots of parts and they came in a lot of different vehicles, they are fairly big though.
Merry christmas, y'all.
Called Amica today after waiting a year for my dad and stepmom to fix the damage to my Mercedes from my stepsister not seeing it and backing into the front end. The assessor will be calling on Monday to schedule an appointment to value the car, but I'm worried it will be totaled over the bent up fender and broken liner. Gotta love insurance companies. Merry Christmas everyone.
diplomats were some of the fastest smog era 4 doors though
i have a civilian model so it not only rocks a two-barrel carb ,but it also has these awful 2.26:1 gears...not exactly a sport sedan.
the 4 barrel and 2.94 gears was slow as dirt too but it was still a fast smog car
Go get it stuck in the mud real quick and tell me if 4H mode is absolutely useless if you don't have the rear locker engaged.
I have an auto-locking rear end, so I can't put it in 4auto and get it stuck without the rear end locking.
I'm wondering if it would be...economically feasible....for me to build a mild/sleeper diplomat.
I've wanted to build a sleeper diplomat for a while!! 4.56 gears, cam, headers, 4 barrel intake, it'd be a cheap redlight warrior. Now if I was to do it, a twin turbo smallblock would be in order.
i was with ya till turbos....not exactly budget are they?
They can be. It only cost me about $1500 to add it to my setup. The main cost factor comes from all the fittings really. Weather you use brass or an fittings they add up to a lot of money.
My parents surprised me with an electric (corded) impact gun today (and sockets!). Hallelujah! Merry Christmas everybody.
Oh god guys, I only just realized I've been treating the gta V thread like a second automotive addicts. When ever someone asks about a car or brings up a car I keep asnwering them like there real cars and that anyone actually gives a fuck my replies-
The generic markings are because when gtaV was still being developed the Ford Taurus Interceptor was still a concept car and my guess is that they loosely based it off the paintjob the concept interceptor had

It's supposed to be a z28 Camaro but with serious fender flare, weird thing about the nightshade is that it looks smaller than the pheonix even though they are the same body with a different front clip irl
also Merry Christmas guys
it's always great when a new episode of roadkill comes out because every time they always do something I've wanted to do for years I've been wanting to do a road legal stock car for ages [editline]25th December 2015[/editline] http://neworleans.craigslist.org/ctd/5362763732.html what the fuck :v:
Looks like a made-up sports car in 80s arcade racing game.
fuck it. I'm gonna save and get a skyline.
Damnit. I didn't get to message any one of y'all and say merry christmass... HAPPY EARLY NEWYEAR
Merry day past Christmas and a Happy early new year to you crazy lot!
Just reading all these posts about the cool cars you guys have is enough for me. Merry Christmas and a happy to year to all.
Im on my way to my grandpas old farm to fix my grandpas old 87 f250 diesel thats been sitting for 4 years, take it to the tire shop to get new all terrians, then drive it back home 1000 miles through the utah high desert, colorado, wyoming, and nebraska in the middle of winter with a title that has his name on it but is signed over by my grandma, a super unofficial bill of sale, and a death certificate to hopefully prove that the truck belongs to me now. Ive seen enough roadkill to uave a bad feeling about this.
