I changed the mechanical fuel lift pump, fuel pressure was still 0 while cranking, Decided fuck it, bled the filter and injector lines, still no start. crank for minutes. no start, not even a stumble. snapped off a crumbling glow plug connector, shit. Let it sit for a while with the glow plug controller disabled, started it it on ether while cringing that I had to do it. Started it, idled rough a 10-20 seconds, then evened out. After letting it heat up, I shut it down and instantly restarted, started on first crank. went to shower off the grease, diesel, and self pity. Started it after shower, started on second crank. Went bowling and eating overpriced food. Started it when I got back a few hours later, started on third crank. Im gonna leave it in the garage overnight and plug it in for 3 hours tomorrow morning, then see if it starts with 7 working glow plugs. in 20 degrees. Place your bets now people. Looks like Im replacing all the glow plug connectors with female bullet plugs and heat shrink tomorrow. Also, any diesel guys know what kind of change going down 5200 feet in elevation might cause on the engine? Should I try turning the injection pump up a little, or assume it was never adjusted to the higher elevation (if it makes a difference at all).
Anyone know what the circled thing in this wiring diagram would be? It's from a radio wiring diagram. I'm just curious what that like dashed thing that encases the two wires would be? What's it called, what does it do, and why does it do it? [editline][/editline] Ah. They're shielded wires as I'd started to figure after a while of mental deductions last week. By the way; we wound up wiring in new speakers in the Z. Got what I'd call a good deal on a headunit/4 speaker combo at wallmart ($100, aka affordable for my pal) wired the new headunit in, fabricated our own mounts for the rear speakers (looks factory other than one screw we couldn't hide) and did the same up front. The bose systems in the z32 are a wonderfully awfully over engineered setup but luckily the enclosures leave you with a massive area to work with.
Anybody had any experience with fiberglass hoods? The mustang is ready for body work but I was looking to see about slapping a 67' Shelby hood w/ hood scoop on her for sex and giggles.
replaced that taillight... Go out there today and find that the other bulb is now burned out. Fuck you blazer.
finally an rcr for me [editline]4th January 2016[/editline] my dd is an 05 silverado but it's kind of close enough
briefly back onto headrests, ones that are taller than your head, not hollow or just fucking massive are the worst thing ever. I like to have visibility when I turn my head around. And favourite headrests for my height are the back seats of VE commodores (Pontiac G8) with cloth seats. Perfect cushioning feeling aaaaah.
I suppose the 'name the first truck that comes to your head' thing only works in the U.S. I thought of the Ford Falcon first, but that isn't even a truck. In fact, I can't think of a truck off the top of my head.
YES AHAHAHAHAHAAA The truck started Oh and this is how I kept from suffocating while working on it

I would recommend either over steel/aluminum any day of the week. Light and easy to work with. I was a bit shocked by how light the stock hood of my Miata was though... 5 pounds maybe. [editline]4th January 2016[/editline]
Alright. You all know how I was complaining about the alignment shop refusing to align my car because they needed more a larger camber bolt or some shit? Long story short they wanted to charge me $240 or so to fix the alignment. I spent 10 minutes today aligning it, it's fixed. No parts or anything. THEY DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING TAKE THE WHEEL OFF. They told me I would need a larger camber bolt because the current one was already full lock, yeah... It was full locked, THE WRONG FUCKING WAY DUMBASS. I know they didn't take the wheel off because I marked the lug nuts. Same exact spot. Same with the camber bolt. Rotated the camber bolt, all good. Dead 0-0 degrees both sides. I hate people. I hate people so much. Wasted tons of my fucking time.
Damn dude, take a deep breath and relax. This kinda thing shouldn't bother you as much as it does. What kind of shop did you take it to?
Damn dude, take a deep breath and relax. This kinda thing shouldn't bother you as much as it does. What kind of shop did you take it to?
It bothers the hell out of me because it's the only place for the next 50 MILES that you can use, hundreds of people use it every month. Also because it took them 3 weeks to even get around to it. So I've been waiting almost a month for nothing. They literally tried to scam me every time I go in there. EVERY TIME. I just wanted a damn alignment. That's all. But somehow they kept making a laundry list of reasons why they can't do it and why I should pay them way too much to work on it for 20 minutes. Reasons of why they can't align my cars include: Brakes were worn. The rear wheel bearings weren't tight, even though they are 0 load. One tire was worn slightly more than the others. It's like they don't want money. I know some people will just say "Yeah, do whatever" and pay them. But every single time they tell me there's something wrong, I go home and fix it myself then I bring it back and now magically there's more issues, which I found out last time was literally nothing and they just wanted to scam me. They know I work on the damn thing myself, so either they really want money out of me or they just don't want to use their alignment machine they paid $100,000 or more for.

What a shitty shop. Sounds like a prime area to open a small garage though :v:
Traded my 265/75/16 wheels+tires for 285/75/16 tires on Duramax rims. Have centercaps, need to buy the proper lug nuts for them. Can actually handle snow now, old ones could barely handle rain and rocks. [T]http://i.imgur.com/324mn5Y.jpg[/t] [T]http://i.imgur.com/qbCKX2X.jpg[/t]
[T]http://i.imgur.com/qbCKX2X.jpg[/t]
I dunno why, but I love the idea of wheels like that on an older sport 2 door.
50% of the way to a suicide setup
I forgot it was there once and crushed it with the garage door, so it just about did exactly that.
[thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsuf46lbpf.jpeg[/thumb] We were in denial longer than it actually took to remove the engine. [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsrs3xgjsh.jpeg[/thumb] Like any trans I've removed it seemed to have a neverending amount of fluid. I think i'll be able to knock the steering out by tomorrow!
Went to move the MR2 in the bitter frigid cold today. Pretty sure I fucked up the ignition (the plastic piece with the electrical points)...good thing I have a spare!
So today me and a friend my gf and the roomie who owns the car tore into the maxima and about 2 hours ago got the engine to near removal ready status. Passenger and driver mounts, 5 loose bell housing bolts, PS pump (cant get to it now) and some acrobatic work with a damn nice engine hoist and it'll be ready to core out. So I was aware it threw a rod, but not so much as how much damage it actually did. It ate the dipstick and punched 3 holes in the block, but to get the bolts for the TC out I had to turn the engine over. Got my 4 1/2 ft breaker bar and went to town, slowly, at least till the rod freed up. Here is some carnage: [t]http://i.imgur.com/fE8mLEC.jpg[/t] And the dipstick with it's murderer: [t]http://i.imgur.com/UaXXCZR.jpg[/t] New phone takes GREAT pics, when it decides to focus.

Lmao [editline]4th January 2016[/editline] That mother fucker has a towel under his shoe
"Pursuit" smh
Not even a Pursuit Special! Swung by the body shop today, looked like they started to paint my car (hood was being wetsanded, I recognized a new bumper and new fender on some sawhorses). So it might by another week or so, instead of end of the month like previously estimated.
