The 4 cyl in the genesis coupe is actually the same engine as the evo x too. [editline]6th January 2016[/editline] It got dropped for the 2015 my though
my grandpa did a rolled paint job like 40 years ago, they didn't all of a sudden become popular in 3
One day I want to own one of these, they are just beautiful.
thought the only thing bad in here was Subaru spark plug changes
plug changes in an rx-8 are pretty bad too y'know. Almost 100aud per plug here :v:
All right, I've asked this around it's respective Facebook page and forum. I'm going to update the valve train of the Daytona a little bit and my plan is to put some modern things in the valve train while I have the head off. MPFI - Adding 3 wires to the stock harness and using a '89 automatic turbo setup lets you make the engine MPFI - much better than it's current TBI. PT Lifters - The PT Cruiser has a 2.4L engine based off the Daytona's 2.5L, so a lot of parts interchange, the lifters have an air relief opening on top. #P5007440 LS1 Valve Springs - Stock Daytona springs will lose strength even after 10K miles, LS1 do not wear down. #26995-16 LS1 Retainers - The stock keepers fit and you can get these in any freaking metal you want and their super easy to find in any junkyard like the springs above. #10166344 5.7 Valve Seals - These fit right in and actually hold much nicer because it has a loaded spring inside of it, keeping it in place. It's also made of Teflon. Turbo Exhaust Valves - Lighter yet stronger and wont burn up if I add a turbo in the future. With all these upgrades it should run butter smooth and like to rev stupid high. It also reduces the valve train weight considerably. My main question is, the springs are a typically upgrade when you are moving to a higher lift cam. Will it damage the valve train any if I keep the stock cam in it? I will put a bigger cam in it later, but for now it's staying the same. I'm honestly surprised people have figured this crap out.
Bought a MK5 today 1.9 TDI 130.000 KM (80.000 miles) [t]http://i.imgur.com/CDUw1fP.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/QZakWOW.jpg[/t] Forgot to take a picture of the front when i was there lol. Took that picture out of the ad lol
Didn't you have a mk7?
Didn't you have a mk7?
I still have a mk4 edit: cbb to clean her up [t]http://i.imgur.com/XBqDXLT.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/hP5RnlZ.jpg[/t] Dem rims tho. Still got that black stuff they put on when you replace the tires lol
So I ordered a ball joint for my dad. The picture is how it's supposed to look, and what I got is in the bag. [t]http://puu.sh/mn8rU.jpg[/t] Literally a blind man could tell you that the part is wrong.

I can visually confirm that its the right part before paying. Might cost $5 more or something, but with their rewards program and piece of mind... I'll pay extra.
Yeah my gf's 08 Sonata has had very few problems I have to say. Only time a lot of repairs had to be done was when groundhogs got in somehow and chewed up a lot of the electrical stuff. Then I think more damage was done when her dad saw them and tried to shoot one while it was still under the hood.
Jesus

They sent the wrong thing.
One day I want to own one of these, they are just beautiful.
I'd rather own a good Kei car, the new S660 is pretty slick. Although you could go down a buy a Honda Beat right now.
On the topic of paint, what can I do about peeling clearcoat on my Miata NA? [t]http://i.imgur.com/7LKB9C9.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/KKxx6qQ.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/8lFLuf9.jpg[/t] Now I do know originally it didn't even come with clearcoat, and I don't really know the story as to why just this one fender has it. I am pretty certain it was in a low speed fender bender at one point, but only just. Also, is it a good idea to just wetsand off the rest of it with like 1000-2000 range paper? Kinda already tested that, but didn't want to go too crazy with it.
Wetsand it all down with 600 grit until you remove all peeling sections, any 'good' clearcoat left will feather in. Shoot a couple coats of red to be safe, then clear it.
this is how I've always done it I wouldn't bother reprimering and recoloring unless the color underneath is sun damaged though
Wetsand it all down with 600 grit until you remove all peeling sections, any 'good' clearcoat left will feather in. Shoot a couple coats of red to be safe, then clear it.
But with 600 I feel I'm bound to hit the primer, which will then pretty much call for just repainting the whole damn fender, which is something I'm not really interested in considered how the process went with the bumper....I thought maybe I could just patiently peel it by hand or something as well. Stickers could be an alternative as well I suppose. No matter what it doesn't feel like there are any super easy solutions. From the very beginning it seemed easiest to get the whole car redone for consistency. Although that cost would detract from more useful and desirable mods, and I'm still for the most part satisfied with the somewhat-faded paint. I just care about the few spots that are messed up. There's one spot on the trunk that for some reason went to primer, but in little marks. We (dad and I) decided to just do a square area around it, and the issue now is it's kinda noticeably darker paint, and has some raised sections still needing sanding. I guess it looks better than what was there, but still a bit of a pain to look at. There's also a scratch mark that looks to have been filled with fucking nail polish or something. Color is way off and the application was very haphazard. It's a small spot, but I still want to touch it up. Point is, there a several small spots that don't matter on their own, but I guess the sum of all of them add up to a less than ideal paintjob. But I keep trying to tell myself I don't care about the paint that much.
So I may have done a thing... What's another great 90s mid size SUV that's not a Mitsubishi Montero sr 1996 I'm looking to buy Has to be dohc or over 200 hp

Choices for the choosy - Jeep Cherokee - Mercedes Gelandewagen - Toyota 4-Runner - Izusu Trooper (Acura SLX/Subaru/Opel/whatever - the thing is a badge engineering whore) If you're willing to expand your criteria, the Toyota Land Criuser beats all but a stickshift diesel G-Wagen, but I'm biased, and that claim depends on what you're doing with it. G-Wagens are horrible anywhere but a trail or bog since they drive like complete ass anywhere near pavement.
Crashed on new years and had to write the thing off a year after passing my test, £750 compulsory excess. Insurance will go up too. rip money :vs: Anyone know of an okay cheap car model/make (England btw) which I could get in the mean time?
I love the look of them. My only worry is reliability and, while not terrible, I haven't heard amazing things about Hyundai. It's a lot to invest and I'm afraid I'm spoiled by my '98 Lexus es300 in terms of dependability.
V6 ones are pretty good but pretty boring as far as modification. The 2.0T can be more "fun" (because turbo) but they're based off mitsu's 4g motor that was in the last lancer... and that motor is garbage. You can't put more than 315whp through the bottom end without potential failure, so i've heard. People tell me the motors in the evo 9 and up were fucking junk for high horsepower.
So, I've made plans to go pick up this beauty on Tuesday: 1998 VW Caravelle, 2.5TDI and 9 seats. It's gonna be sort of a late christmas/early birthday present for my mum. Only problem is, I had a mechanic check it out, and he said the clutch is slipping a bit, and I'm having a hard time finding anyone that would touch the clutch change with a 10 foot pole. Apparently you need some special VW tools to hold the engine in the right way, otherwise it's a long and hard job. I've called around, and only one indy shop would touch it, and they wanted $1400 to do it.

I personally would go for the first gen, because even though the motor is known as the 4.slow, and they all develop lifter tick, they are incredibly bulletproof. I hydrolocked my old one 3 times and didn't even pull the plugs to restart it. The second gen had the v8 Windsor option, which has a ton of bolt on performance options from the mustang market, but second gens have that gross rounded body style that I hate.

99% sure my water pump took a shit in my 2000 Taurus. Finally got cold here and noticed a reasonable amount of steam coming from under the hood when stopped. Popped the hood and noticed almost no coolant, and tons of steam rolling from under the serpentine belt, where the waterpump sits. So most likely the bearings have gone bad and now its burning coolant like mad. Real nice timing now that I just started school again.
Is that a racing seat I see? Got any other tricks up your sleeve? also, stunning photos
That is a racing seat. The stock seat had broken lumbar support and caused extreme back pain if sat in for more than two minutes. I had a racing seat lying around and bolted it in. No other tricks up its sleeve as of yet (unless you count dat exhaust note). Eventually it will be fast and handle and all that shit, but right now its a daily. In regards to the photos: Thanks, I took em me self.
