looking at downsizing from my 4runner. Maybe a 2013 Scion tc. Its funny how all the really small economy cars with really low advertised price still amounts to 20k after you ask about financing...
The Scion tC is way overpriced for what it is. Scion was supposed to be Toyota's budget brand, designed for high school/college kids. Didn't take long to get away from that. Also, the tC was a cool looking car in it's first generation, but each facelift since has made it uglier than before.
I read through the maintenance log on my truck, and there are some years my grandpa would put 100k miles on it in a year pulling hay trailers from his farm and double stacked trailers for his brother's trailer sales business. Shortly after he had the current engine put in in 2005, he stopped pulling trailers from kansas to utah and my uncle started hauling the hay shortly after that, so while the truck is firmly in the half million mile club (520k), the remanufactured engine and trans only have 90k on them. This engine is going to outlive the body, especially now with how insanely much they salt the damn roads here in SD.
But with 600 I feel I'm bound to hit the primer, which will then pretty much call for just repainting the whole damn fender, which is something I'm not really interested in considered how the process went with the bumper....I thought maybe I could just patiently peel it by hand or something as well. Stickers could be an alternative as well I suppose. No matter what it doesn't feel like there are any super easy solutions. From the very beginning it seemed easiest to get the whole car redone for consistency. Although that cost would detract from more useful and desirable mods, and I'm still for the most part satisfied with the somewhat-faded paint. I just care about the few spots that are messed up. There's one spot on the trunk that for some reason went to primer, but in little marks. We (dad and I) decided to just do a square area around it, and the issue now is it's kinda noticeably darker paint, and has some raised sections still needing sanding. I guess it looks better than what was there, but still a bit of a pain to look at. There's also a scratch mark that looks to have been filled with fucking nail polish or something. Color is way off and the application was very haphazard. It's a small spot, but I still want to touch it up. Point is, there a several small spots that don't matter on their own, but I guess the sum of all of them add up to a less than ideal paintjob. But I keep trying to tell myself I don't care about the paint that much.
1000 grit will take forever to get anywhere, 2000 you're prettymuch running it with rough felt. I find 600 is good for finishing work before paint on lighter colors, 800 for darker. No need to go too crazy with priming it, etc. Just use the color to coat the entire panel lightly and make it all uniform red. Avoid going all the way to the edges (if the edges have OK clearcoat still) to avoid noticeable panel color shade discrepancies. Once it's all a uniform red, which would only take a couple light coats, then clear the whole thing. That'll ensure good luster and 'seal' it in a nice hard shell.
:dogwow: man that's some abstract type of cancer.
That's the Haggard Garage Miata isn't it?
Needs a sticker
That's the Haggard Garage Miata isn't it?
Is it? They've had a bunch of miatas, even one in white with that hood, but I don't think that's one of theirs.
Why does it have to be DOHC or over 200 HP, you're not winning a race in a SUV, and there isn't much out there that's going to be fuckall slow in the SUV realm. Choices for the choosy - Jeep Cherokee - Mercedes Gelandewagen - Toyota 4-Runner - Izusu Trooper (Acura SLX/Subaru/Opel/whatever - the thing is a badge engineering whore) If you're willing to expand your criteria, the Toyota Land Criuser beats all but a stickshift diesel G-Wagen, but I'm biased, and that claim depends on what you're doing with it. G-Wagens are horrible anywhere but a trail or bog since they drive like complete ass anywhere near pavement.
Yeah but specifically what year and model [editline]9th January 2016[/editline]
What's another great 90s mid size SUV that's not a Mitsubishi Montero sr 1996 I'm looking to buy Has to be dohc or over 200 hp
Also under 8 k
Xterra? They're about 190hp, sturdy as shit, but they rust like nobody's business though
95-98 grand cherokee with the 5.2 v8 makes 220 and 300 ft-lbs or if you can manage to find a 1998 5.9 that makes 245 and 345 ft-lbs but they didn't make a whole lot of those [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] the 5.9 is actually quite a fast vehicle. 0-60 in around 7 flat from a late '90s SUV is hauling ass. doesn't corner for shit, but it goes hard in a straight line
5.9 or 4.0. The 318 is a massive pile of shit.
it's not that bad, just kind of a bitch to work on. the 5.9 is worse in that regard. it's just a mopar small block, reasonably reliable and makes reasonable power for a reasonable price
Why would the 318 or 360 be hard to work on or be a piece of shit? They're practically the same engine and on top of that there's millions of them around. My 318 is stupid easy to work on and there's TONS of aftermarket for it.
it's kinda shoehorned into a cherokee and a lot of things are hard to get to. the engine itself is dead simple, the application is a bitch

A mechanic at the shop I used to work at used one for offroading, and hated it. After he rolled the thing and totaled it, he went on to buy shitty YJs and rebuild the frames.
Oh gotcha. Shitty in a Jeep. Good engine overall. Freaking dead simple in a Gen 1 Dodge Dakota.
it's just what happens when you cram a v8 into an i6 engine bay
That Miata looks like the Corollaborition's cousin.
Look at this stereotypical Ford Thunderbird. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5395764595.html Mr. Regular described the stigma around them perfectly.
Well. Today's total damage is. Suburbans 4x4 actuator 12k lbs Harbor fright Winch 2x 18k lbs WWL Recovery Straps 3x 5555LBS WWL Rachet Straps. 2x Come A longs at I think 4k lbs. We had to move a storage building 40ft or so to get it on solid ground for a towtruck could come and pick it up. Took the suburban and my truck both to be a giant weight wile winching on it with a snatch block to even make the fucker budge. I learned snatch blocks are amazing, Cender blocks work great for wheel chalks, and never attempt to man handle the building by pulling on it with trucks BRUTE FORCE. I have to get a better winch now because I love how you can attach something to it and just press in and only thing you have to do is sit back and let her come to you.
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/calgary/rare-1990-jdm-diesel-toyota-land-cruiser-hzj77/1130971783?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true What would be a good price for this? Call it an impulse buy, but as I was going into the bar for my birthday last night I heard a massive turbo scream and one of these drives by, jacked up and fitted with all the offroad goodies. I was hooked My megacab has been doing me good, but it cant hurt to try something different!
21k for a 171000km 25 year old diesel toyota Is the Canadian dollar that weak?
sorry I don't have much to offer in response to other comments, very much a car noob, but I got a couple questions for you guys that i'm hoping someone would be able to help me out with I've got this old toyota celica, 1994 model, it's well overdue for a service so that's the next thing i'll be doing either way, but: 1. if I don't turn it on every day, like, if I leave it off for a minimum of say ~30 hours, the car won't start, needs a jump start; electronics inside etc still work but it's just too weak to start. I have no problems with turning it on every day, but is that /normal/ or is there likely something going on that shouldn't be? i've tried swapping out the battery and it was still doing it etc, some people have told me I should be able to leave it up to a week without it dying and I feel like when I first got it, I was able too 2. Today I was driving at like 80km/h and the engine just cut out, not sure why, definitely wasn't a stall situation, turned back on fine and i've had no problems since, oil level's fine, wasn't over heating.. Is that something I should be overly concerned about or is it likely it just had something of a hick-up gonna get it serviced soon either way, just dunno what to make of those things
Oh dear [t]http://puu.sh/mqlvQ.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/mqtlY.jpg[/t] My car is covered in cocaine

Next time you let it sit a while disconnect the battery and see if it works when you go to start it. #2 I dont really know, but if your car has an OBD port, you can buy a 1$ code reader or bluetooth adapter and check if there are any fault codes.
