Settled on the stealth heads by the looks of it it should be good If I keep them naturally aspirated looks like I just gotta swap out the keepers they come with ,same crank and con rods new pistons, stock rocker arms, new cam,new intake new coil do something with the carb either rebuild or get one that isnt so entirely fucked up.
Also get the trans rebuilt.
Still dont get why you're changing the pistons out. Headers will net you 20+ horsepower easily, spend the money there.
Chances are your trans is fine, just put a shift kit in it and it'll be night and day

Which is fucking weird because my '03 and old '05 would do it while rolling
Funally changed out the shitty Honda Civic cables that have been keeping my car on the road for the last five years even though they were too long and one of the boots had fallen off at least once. Also replaced all the plugs as they were the wrong spec.

What a surprise, my sputtering problems instantly vanished! \:v:/
Also finally found someone that wasn't trying to get their money back on a 10 disc CD changer and bought it to replace the five disc changer in my car that.....might of been angrily slammed into the ground and exploded into a dozen pieces last year. This new one is big. I had to make an extension so both mounting brackets fit.

isnt it easier to just use an ipod/smartphone considering it looks like you have a head unit anyways
And heigou, 11.9l/100km is 19.5mpg or something, not 29
no offense but you should probably read the post you're replying to. it's 11.9km/l, not 11.9 liters for 100km. so he does do 28mpg.

So my 98 buick has a stuttering sound/engine power issue when going up hills and normal acceleration in low RPMs between 700 and 1500. Letting off the accelerator and/or pushing down hard immediately resolves the issue but sometimes it happens more often than it has been. I've been thinking of replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump, oil change. If it still happens I'm gonna replace my air intake and if it persists I guess I'll need to perform a vacuum leak check?

Are there any codes being thrown?
If today's discussion is anything to go by, try giving it a little bit more gas and turning overdrive off when about to go up a hill. My car will not take most hills in 4th at those rpms, it usually has to kick down to 3rd at least. Sometimes if it isn't warm enough or too hot, 4th and 2nd disappear and codes have to be cleared to not be stuck in 3rd. Trying to start moving from a full stop in 3rd takes everything the car has, it just lugs and lugs for days until it reaches 1500rpm.

nah no codes. it sounds like an air intake issue but i read many similar reports ended up being fuel pump issues
I wonder, how many of you guys are actual mechanics?

I installed a tap on the FM injector for the satellite radio and hid it in the glove box so I can plug in my ipod, flip a switch and just use that if I want.
Also, FUCK! The engine still sputters. So now it's not the cylinder pressure, injector, filters, TPS, distributor cap, vacuum lines, computer, plug cables OR the fucking plugs. Now I gotta start thinking reeeealy hard further upstream but that's all just expensive sensors and the coil.
Violent sputter? Or what? My dad's Honda had a bad cat and it would chug and sput unless you waled on it. It was only getting 21mpg instead of the usual 38. Smashed the cat and now it's good.
yeah old cats get gross. any time I have an older car that's not performing right one of the first things I'll do is throw a test pipe in there

My Civic has been developing a deathly exhaust related rattle from what I assume is the cat. I had an old cat from a buddy's car with 170k miles on it laying around so I tossed that in the Civic to keep the noise deep instead of sounding like a ricey raspy shitbox. I think it's started to come apart inside as it makes a little noise when I rubber mallet it.
Hopefully I don't have to punch it out though, it's equally as possible that my exhaust mani is cracked but it sounds lower..
It doesn't glow red and the temperatures pre and post cat are perfectly acceptable and in line with not being clogged but also probably not considered 100% functional which I give zero fucks about.

Have you seen his posts in the Thrift Shopping thread? He's like the king of vintage/outdated technology.
Gained .5mpg from rebuilding the 14 bolt in the Detroit, averaging 20.5mpg now. With diesel being ~7-9c more expensive than gas, it's cheap to drive this rig.
Gained bed bugs in the Impreza from moving beds in the truck for a friend
I have never had such a literal pain in my ass.
Using some pet spray to kill them, but the car smells like peppermint.
Everytime you come in here Snoberry you make a huge scene about anything. Just keep your truck in D, you don't need to move it unless you're towing or hill climbing. Yeah, you get bad MPG, it's a truck. Unless your driving anything below a quarter ton, you're just going to get shit mileage.
I haven't made a "huge scene" about anything, dude. Don't know what you're talking about. I asked two simple questions and got my answers, where exactly do you see a 'scene'?
And yes, the RAM's do get roughly 30mpg with a diesel, and that's not peak. You can get way better MPG than what's on stickers, look up hypermiling. Cars that are labeled 22MPG can easily get 27MPG if you drive careful enough. My truck is 16MPG highway, it gets 19.
[editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
Your truck should say [P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1] or a variation of that. If you put it in D, it will engage overdrive when it can. 3 is no overdrive. 2 means it will try to stay in second as long as possible, it will shift if it has to though. Same for 1, if you even have that. It may even say L. Depends on the vehicle.
it wont shift out of 1st when in 1 or 2nd after 1st when in 2. You can happily sit on the limiter if you so well please.

V70s are every bit as comfortable as a new BMW or Mercedes, the T5 can haul ass if you want it to, but is refined and easy to drive, and it'll be cheap to insure on account of being a 4 door with a small 5 cylinder in it. volvos are some of the cheapest to service european cars too

25 isn't that bad. it's a pretty aerodynamic car, you could remove the rear spoiler and install an air dam and get 30 no problem
[editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
besides that first car means probably has a job but still lives at home
ie nearly all his income is disposable
30 mpg is really, really grannying it in a t5, you'd see ~22uk mpg average, thats what my parents used to get in an s70 t5 2.3 of the same generation and that wasn't used that hard
